Everyone was having dinner, and during the meal, Chu Mei and Zhou Rongli reminisced about the past. The atmosphere was quite warm, but soon, Chu Mei began to boast about her experiences after moving to Yue Province. Zhou Rongli listened intently, occasionally asking questions, which only fueled Chu Mei's enthusiasm.
"By the way, Zhou Rong Li, why don't you come with me to Yue Province this time?" Chu Mei suggested with a smile.
"Let's wait until the holidays," Zhou Rongli replied.
"How about November 1st? We're hosting a housewarming party on October 1st, and you must come," Chu Mei insisted cheerfully.
"You bought another house?" Zhou Rongli asked, surprised.
"I bought a villa in Shenzhen, but I don’t stay there often. We still live in Dao City. In a couple of days, Dao City will host the National Martial Arts Competition; it’s going to be quite a show. Too bad you won’t have time," Chu Mei said with a grin.
"Oh, right! Xiao Chen, didn’t you say you were going to Dao City tomorrow to watch the Martial Arts Competition? Your Aunt Chu is also on the same flight tomorrow; you should go together for some company," Zhou Rongli suggested.
"Maybe we’re not on the same flight," Jiang Chen replied, not wanting to travel with Aunt Chu.
"You seem pretty free at work if you have time to go watch the Martial Arts Competition," Chu Mei remarked with some surprise.
"It’s not too busy; I have some free time," Jiang Chen smiled.
"Then let’s go together tomorrow! I haven’t bought my ticket yet. Just tell me which flight you booked, and I’ll get on the same one. Since it’s rare for me to go to Dao City, you should come over to my place. Of course, if you think your current job has no future, you can come work at Uncle Wang’s factory; I can guarantee you good treatment," Chu Mei offered.
Jiang Chen felt helpless; he didn’t want to be on the same flight as Aunt Chu. If he had known, he wouldn’t have told his godmother that he was going to Dao City.
"Chu Mei, Xiao Chen's current job is quite good; he definitely won’t change it. His trip to Dao City is considered a business trip, right, Xiao Chen?" Zhou Rongli said meaningfully as she looked at Jiang Chen.
Zhou Rongli had heard a lot about Jiang Chen from Jiang Lu and had a general understanding of his situation. So having such a godson made her very happy.
"It is a business trip," Jiang Chen confirmed with a smile.
At that moment, all he wanted was for Aunt Chu not to come around anymore; playing along with her and satisfying her vanity was truly exhausting.
"If you ever want to change jobs or develop in Yue Province, just let me know. I have some connections there," Chu Mei said.
"Cough cough, let’s not talk about work anymore. By the way, Chu Mei, has your daughter Duo Duo started dating?" Zhou Rongli coughed lightly to ease the atmosphere and change the subject again.
"Yes, she has a boyfriend! Speaking of Duo Duo's boyfriend, he's really an outstanding young man. Let me show you his picture." As she spoke about her daughter's boyfriend, Chu Mei's face lit up with joy as she took out her phone and shared a photo of her future son-in-law with everyone at the table.
"He’s quite handsome and matches Duo Duo well," Zhou Rongli commented with a smile.
"His name is Chen Ran; he’s the grandson of the Chen Family Elder from a martial arts family in Dao City. He’s highly regarded in his family and is quite accomplished himself—he won the championship at the Martial Arts Competition a few years ago. This time at the competition, his grandfather is even one of the judges," Chu Mei said excitedly.
Wang Duoduo, who had been silent until now, couldn’t help but smile happily when she heard her mother mention Chen Ran, clearly displaying the demeanor of someone in love.
After lunch, Chu Mei had some matters to attend to, so she left with her daughter. Once the two of them were gone, Jiang Chen's family finally let out a sigh of relief.
