Han Lingyun slowly retreated with her subordinates, a strange smile playing on her lips. Lin Yuan watched her warily, his Lingqi ready to erupt at any moment.
"Don't be nervous, Master Lin," Han Lingyun chuckled lightly. "I'm just here to say hello today; the real show is yet to come."
"What do you want?" Lin Yuan asked coldly.
Han Lingyun did not answer but cast a meaningful glance at the Heavenly Mechanism Disk before turning away with her followers.
"Is she just leaving like that?" Zhou Haoran asked, puzzled. "This is too strange."
Su Jiu'er frowned. "Something's off; she wouldn't just give up the Heavenly Mechanism Disk for no reason."
Just as Lin Yuan was about to speak, he suddenly felt a wave of anxiety wash over him. He turned sharply, scanning the surroundings. "Everyone be careful; there's something wrong with this place!"
As soon as he spoke, the ancient AI Monitoring System within the ruins suddenly lit up with blinding red lights, and a mechanical voice echoed in the vast stone chamber: "Warning! Abnormal energy fluctuations detected! The system has identified a large energy device activated, expected to reach critical point in 30 minutes!"
"What the hell?" Lin Yuan rushed to the monitoring screen, which displayed a complex graph of energy fluctuations, with red lines rapidly rising.
Su Jiu'er quickly operated the compass, her expression growing increasingly grim. "This is bad; Han Lingyun activated a large energy device before retreating, and the energy index is rising sharply!"
Zhou Haoran adjusted his glasses, staring at the monitor. "At this rate of increase, the entire ruins will be destroyed by an energy storm in 30 minutes!"
"This woman is ruthless," Lin Yuan gritted his teeth. "If she can't get the Heavenly Mechanism Disk, she wants to bury us all here."
Su Jiu'er worked swiftly on the compass, her brow furrowed. "I can sense it; the core of the device is an ancient relic known as Lingbao Crystal. This crystal can absorb and amplify Lingqi. Once it explodes, its power could destroy everything within hundreds of kilometers!"
"Lingbao Crystal?" Zhou Haoran exclaimed. "Isn't that a legendary forbidden item? It's said that in ancient times, an explosion from a single Lingbao Crystal once destroyed a prosperous city!"
Lin Yuan looked around and said, "We need to find that device and figure out how to shut it down."
The four quickly split up to search, and soon, Zhou Haoran discovered a device glowing with purple light in the corner of the stone chamber. The device was hexagonal, with a fist-sized Purple Crystal at its center, surrounded by intricate mechanical structures and arrays of runes.
"I found it!" Zhou Haoran shouted.
The others quickly gathered around. Zhou Haoran took a small device from his backpack and connected it to the apparatus. "Let me see if I can hack in and cut off the power."
His fingers flew over the keyboard, but he soon shook his head. "No good, the core components of the device are protected by some mysterious force, making it impossible to destroy using conventional methods."
"Let me give it a try." Lin Yuan stepped forward, channeling his Lingqi, and struck the device with his palm.
With a loud thud, Lin Yuan was thrown back several steps by a powerful rebound force.
"Damn it, there's a protective shield!" Lin Yuan shook his numbed arm.
Su Jiu'er examined the device closely. "This isn't an ordinary explosive device. Han Lingyun used the energy from the dragon vein to amplify the power of the Lingbao Crystal. This is an extremely dangerous Detonating Spirit Weapon; once it explodes, it won't just destroy physical structures but will also contaminate the surrounding Lingqi field, making this place uninhabitable for cultivation for hundreds of years."
"We don't have much time left; only twenty minutes," Zhou Haoran said anxiously.
Lin Yuan pondered for a moment before suddenly brightening up. "I have a plan!"
He closed his eyes and took a deep breath as his Time Manipulator began to activate. A strange energy surged from within him, causing the surrounding air to thicken as time began to flow slowly.
"Lin Yuan, what are you doing?" Su Jiu'er asked in surprise.
"I'm going to use the Time Manipulator to reverse time back to the moment Han Lingyun activated the device and stop her!" Lin Yuan gritted his teeth, beads of sweat forming on his forehead.
As Lin Yuan fully unleashed his abilities, the surrounding scenery began to blur, and time flowed backward like a rushing river, surging toward the past. The energy index on the monitoring screen started to decline, and the purple glow of the device gradually weakened.
However, just as time reversed to the moment the device was first activated, Lin Yuan suddenly sensed something amiss. Inside the device, a hidden program was quietly running, seemingly capable of perceiving changes in time and performing self-repair.
"This is bad!" Lin Yuan exclaimed. "Han Lingyun set up a hidden program in the device that can self-repair! Once the time reversal ends, the device will activate again!"
"What should we do?" Zhou Haoran asked anxiously.
Lin Yuan gritted his teeth. "I must find and destroy this program before the time reversal ends!"
He concentrated, pushing the Time Manipulator's abilities to their limits, causing the flow of time to slow even further, nearly coming to a standstill. Lin Yuan's consciousness seemed to detach from his body, directly entering the interior of the device to confront the hidden program face-to-face.
In this strange spacetime, the program appeared as a complex mass of purple Light Net, constantly shifting its form in an attempt to escape Lin Yuan's grasp.
"Don't even think about escaping!" Lin Yuan's consciousness transformed into a sharp sword, piercing straight for the core of the Light Net.
The Light Net trembled violently, splitting into dozens of small light points that scattered in all directions. Unfazed, Lin Yuan's consciousness split into multiple streams of light, pursuing each individual point.
"This program is too bizarre; it seems to have its own consciousness," Lin Yuan thought to himself.
At that moment, he noticed that all the light points' trajectories seemed to follow a certain pattern, as if revolving around an invisible center.
"I see!" Lin Yuan realized suddenly. "The true core is hidden in the void!"
He stopped chasing after the scattered light points and instead directed his attack toward that unseen center. As his consciousness made contact with that point, the entire Light Net suddenly shook violently, emitting a piercing shriek before collapsing with a thunderous crash.
Lin Yuan's consciousness jolted back into his body, and he staggered back a few steps, nearly losing his balance.
"Did we succeed?" Su Jiu'er asked nervously.
Lin Yuan, panting heavily, nodded. "The program has been destroyed, but the device is still running. We need to shut it down completely."
Zhou Haoran reconnected to the device. "There's no program interference now; I should be able to hack in."
His fingers flew across the keyboard, and soon the purple glow of the device began to fade, eventually extinguishing completely.
"Got it!" Zhou Haoran sighed in relief.
However, Lin Yuan remained on high alert. "This is too strange; Han Lingyun wouldn't be defeated so easily."
He carefully examined the device and suddenly noticed a tiny camera at the bottom, blinking with a red light.
"Damn it, we've been tricked!" Lin Yuan's expression changed drastically. "This was just a decoy!"
At that moment, the ground of the ruins began to shake violently, countless cracks appeared on the walls, and debris started to fall from the ceiling.
"The ruins are collapsing!" Zhou Haoran exclaimed.
Su Jiu'er quickly activated her compass. "No, this isn't an ordinary collapse; the dragon vein has been artificially damaged!"
Lin Yuan suddenly understood. "I see! Han Lingyun's true goal isn't the Heavenly Mechanism Disk; it's the dragon vein! She used this device to distract us while she sabotaged the dragon vein elsewhere!"
"If the dragon vein is destroyed, the entire ruins will collapse, and we'll be buried alive here!" Su Jiu'er said, her face pale.
Lin Yuan made a swift decision. "We must leave here immediately and track down Han Lingyun!"
The four of them quickly ran toward the exit, but the passage was already blocked by fallen rocks for the most part.
"Damn it!" Lin Yuan gritted his teeth. "Looks like we have to break through!"
He took a deep breath, feeling the surge of Lingqi within him. With both hands forming seals, a beam of golden light shot from his palms, crashing into the obstructed passage.
"Boom!" A loud explosion echoed as the rocks were blasted apart, creating a path.
"Run!" Lin Yuan shouted.
Just as the four of them rushed out of the passage, the ruins behind them completely collapsed, and a massive cloud of dust surged from the cave entrance, nearly knocking them off their feet.
Standing outside the ruins and gazing at the wreckage, Lin Yuan's eyes sparkled with anger. "Han Lingyun, what exactly do you want?"
Su Jiu'er operated the compass, her expression growing increasingly grim. "This is bad. After the dragon vein was damaged, the released energy is spreading outward. If we don't control it, the surrounding area will be affected for hundreds of miles!"
"What should we do?" Zhou Haoran asked.
Lin Yuan pondered for a moment. "First, we need to track down Han Lingyun and figure out her true intentions. Second, we must find a way to control the energy released by the dragon vein to minimize the damage."
At that moment, Lin Yuan's communicator suddenly rang, displaying an unfamiliar number. He hesitated for a moment before answering.
"Lin Yuan, long time no see." A familiar female voice came through; it was Han Lingyun.
"What do you want?" Lin Yuan asked coldly.
Han Lingyun chuckled lightly. "Just a little experiment. You know? The energy released after damaging the dragon vein is the best catalyst for certain special cultivation methods."
"You've lost your mind! Are you willing to destroy the Dragon Vein for your own selfish interests, affecting the ecosystem for miles around?"
"Selfish interests?" Han Lingyun's voice suddenly turned cold. "Do you think I'm doing this just for myself? Lin Yuan, you're too naive. This world is about to undergo a tremendous change, and I am merely preparing for that day."
"What change?"
"You'll find out soon enough," Han Lingyun said mysteriously. "By the way, I forgot to tell you that the energy from the Dragon Vein has an interesting side effect—it activates all the Spiritual Energy Nodes along its path, including those ancient powers that have been sealed. Can you guess what will happen when those powers are unleashed?"
Lin Yuan's expression changed dramatically. "You—"
The communication suddenly cut off. Lin Yuan clenched his fists, a resolute light flashing in his eyes. "We must stop her!"
Su Jiu'er suddenly exclaimed, "This is bad! The compass shows that the energy from the Dragon Vein has already begun to activate the surrounding Spiritual Energy Nodes, and the nearest one is just ten kilometers away in an ancient town!"
Without a word, Lin Yuan turned and sprinted toward the ancient town. "We need to get there before the Spiritual Energy Node is fully activated!"
The four of them had just run a few hundred meters when they suddenly heard a loud bang behind them. Turning around, they saw a massive Energy Vortex forming above the ruins, with purple light shooting into the sky, creating a towering beam of light.
"It's begun!" Su Jiu'er said, her face pale. "The energy from the Dragon Vein is spreading outwards!"
Lin Yuan gazed at the soaring beam of light, a sense of foreboding rising in his heart. "Han Lingyun, what exactly are you plotting?"
