"Chong Chong, your current identity is my girlfriend. That Ni Xingyi is just a nobody in the fashion industry. Why bother competing with her? Isn't that lowering your own status? Let's go; there's a cocktail party at eight," Kenner said helplessly at the entrance of Lirenni Garden.
"There's no rush. I want to see what tricks Ni Xingyi has up her sleeve tonight," Chen Chongchong sneered.
"Alright, let's take a quick look and then leave," Kenner conceded.
As they entered the Lirenni Garden venue, chairs surrounded the runway, and Ni Xingyi was at the entrance of the show.
"Ni Xingyi, it's about to start, but I see hardly anyone here. Is it fun to entertain yourself like this?"
"You might as well end it yourself; don't embarrass yourself," Chen Chongchong couldn't help but mock as soon as she saw Ni Xingyi.
"I'm happy to do so," Ni Xingyi replied with an unbothered attitude.
"Fine, I'll just watch who you've invited to support you today," Chen Chongchong frowned, irritated by Ni Xingyi's demeanor. She never expected that in just one day, Ni Xingyi would seem like a completely different person.
How could she become so thick-skinned and ignore her jabs? Chen Chongchong enjoyed seeing Ni Xingyi's frustrated expression when she couldn't retaliate, but now that Ni Xingyi's attitude had changed so drastically, she found it hard to derive satisfaction from Ni Xingyi's discomfort, which left her quite displeased.
After saying this, Chen Chongchong sat down on a nearby chair to wait.
Ni Xingyi paid her no mind, but inside, she felt a surge of excitement. Since Jon Delson had made an appearance, the guests he invited would surely be extraordinary.
Ten minutes later, the first guest arrived: Ma'erka. She came uninvited after having late-night snacks with Jiang Chen the previous night. Jiang Lu had casually mentioned today's fashion show, prompting Ma'erka to come.
Although Ma'erka wasn't a big shot in the fashion world, she was one of the hottest global pop stars. Wherever she went, massive attention followed; ordinary people couldn't afford to invite her.
Chen Chongchong had also tried to invite her but failed. Now seeing Ma'erka attending Ni Xingyi's fashion show sent her mood spiraling.
"Why is Ma'erka here? We invited her, and she said she was busy!" Chen Chongchong exclaimed in dissatisfaction.
"Maybe she was busy in the afternoon but is free now," Kenner explained.
"Even so, why does Ni Xingyi get to invite her?" Chen Chongchong fumed.
What followed next only added to Chen Chongchong's frustration. Big names from the fashion industry, stars from the entertainment world, and even several super influencers from the United States showed up.
Not only was Chen Chongchong shocked; even Ni Xingyi, who had mentally prepared herself for this moment, was taken aback.
This seemed like the fashion show with the most heavyweight guests in history. As for media reporters, Jon hadn't even invited them; these people appearing in one place meant reporters wouldn't miss out. The entrance of Lirenni Garden was already surrounded by journalists.
At seven o'clock, the fashion show started on time. The seats by the runway were filled to capacity with prominent figures.
"We should go," Chen Chongchong said dejectedly. Although it was hard to believe, she had to accept reality. She didn't want to humiliate herself here any longer; seeing Ni Xingyi's beaming face only made her more upset.
"Let's not leave just yet. Since we're here, we might as well take a look around." Now it was Kennel's turn to stay. So many prominent figures had gathered here today, many of whom he rarely had the chance to meet. How could he possibly pass up the opportunity to get to know them?
