Xiao Meng felt as if she had fallen into a viscous swamp made of malice and the sound of a baby crying. Those tiny Starlight Babies, with their mouths wide open, did not reveal innocent smiles but rows of chilling, sharp teeth.
"To give to the true father as a sacrifice..." Three hundred babies, three hundred identical faces, three hundred identical voices merged into a terrifying chorus that drilled straight into Xiao Meng's mind. The sound was reminiscent of Black-hearted Grandpa's sinister tone, mixed with the indistinct babbling typical of infants, creating an overwhelming "uncanny valley" effect.
Xiao Meng felt a sharp pain in her chest, as if countless fine needles were piercing her simultaneously. She tried to raise her hand to stop it but found herself utterly immobilized, as if bound by an invisible force. The Starlight Babies swarmed around her like a pack of starving mosquitoes, voraciously draining the Xing Wen energy from within her.
"No way, am I really going to 'gloriously' sacrifice myself here today? I haven't even married Sunshine yet or tasted his dark culinary creations; my life has just begun!" Xiao Meng thought frantically, wishing she could just order herself a "die on the spot" package right then and there.
At that moment, something strange happened on Sunshine's side as well. His already pale face turned even whiter, resembling a blank sheet of paper devoid of color. He clutched his chest in agony, as if something were trying to burst forth from within him.
Suddenly, the Starry Marriage Contract on his chest began to emit a dazzling light. The brilliance intensified until it transformed into... a delivery bed?!
"The Azure Priestess requires dual delivery..." An ancient and solemn voice resonated from the starry delivery bed, filled with sanctity and authority. Yet, to Xiao Meng's ears, the lines sounded somewhat off.
Then even stranger things began to unfold. The Starlight Babies that had been sucking away Xiao Meng's Xing Wen suddenly halted their actions. Their bodies started to become ethereal, streams of Starshine pouring out from within them and gathering in the air, ultimately forming... the Starlight Robe of the Priestess Ancestor!
This long robe was woven from countless tiny stars, exuding an aura that was both mysterious and ancient. However, what shocked Xiao Meng was that at the hem of this robe was embroidered a totem made of snakes! That totem was the very symbol used by Black-hearted Grandpa all along!
"What is this? Could it be that Black-hearted Grandpa is the real mastermind behind all this? This plot twist is happening way too fast!" Xiao Meng felt her mind struggling to keep up; the influx of information was overwhelming, and she needed a moment to process it all.
Before she could digest these revelations, Old Grandpa Plugin, who had been silent until now, suddenly spoke: "Girl, to break the deadlock, you must feed the Starlight Babies to Wu Yue!"
At the same time, Old Grandpa Plugin's pocket watch began spinning wildly backward, as if time itself had become chaotic at that moment. Before Xiao Meng could grasp what the old man meant by his words, grayish-white powder suddenly flew out from the eyes of the Starlight Babies.
That powder turned out to be Star Granny's ashes!
“Cackling... Useless, all of it! Your struggles are in vain!” The shadow of Wu Yue flickered among the Starlight Babies, emitting a chilling laugh.
However, what happened next left everyone utterly astonished. The ashes of the Star Granny did not get devoured by Wu Yue as she had imagined; instead, they pierced through her shadow like sharp knives, stabbing fiercely into her form.
“Ah—! What is this?!” Wu Yue's shadow let out a piercing scream, beginning to tremble violently.
Even more unexpectedly, the Starlight Babies began to change. Their bodies twisted as black threads surged from within them, wrapping around Wu Yue's shadow and voraciously consuming her power.
“No! Stop! You damned creatures! I will not let you get away with this!” Wu Yue's shadow let out a final roar, her voice filled with despair and unwillingness.
“Star Granny, you...” Xiao Meng watched in shock and confusion as everything unfolded before her. She had no idea what Star Granny had done or why the Starlight Babies were suddenly turning against Wu Yue.
But she sensed that things were taking an unexpected turn.
“It’s useless... all useless... she has already... devoured... enough starlight...” A faint voice emerged from the group of Starlight Babies, intermittent and filled with pain.
Xiao Meng strained to identify the voice, trying to discern who was speaking. She felt a vague familiarity but couldn’t quite place it.
At that moment, all the Starlight Babies began to emit dazzling light. The radiance grew stronger until it illuminated the entire space like broad daylight.
Then, all the Starlight Babies began to melt away, transforming into tiny grains of Xing Sha that danced and spun in the air, ultimately forming a massive Star Sand Vortex...
“Run! Get out of here! They want...” Sunshine suddenly dashed to Xiao Meng’s side, grabbing her hand in an attempt to pull her away.
“What do they want?” Xiao Meng looked at Sunshine anxiously.
Sunshine’s face turned even paler as he stared intently at the Star Sand Vortex, his lips trembling as if he wanted to say something but ultimately remained silent.
“Run! There’s no time!” Sunshine’s voice was filled with urgency as he dragged Xiao Meng away without looking back.
The Star Sand Vortex spun wildly, like a giant washing machine churning the remnants of the universe. Tiny shards of starlight sparkled like shimmering soap bubbles, dazzling and disorienting.
Xiao Meng felt like a sock tossed into a dryer, dizzy and nauseous as her insides churned violently.
Suddenly, a chubby little hand reached out from the center of the vortex, resembling a strange bean pulled from a washing machine—slippery and slick.
“I want to be the Witch's Son!” A childish voice rang out from the vortex's center, accompanied by a strong scent of milk.
Xiao Meng focused her gaze and nearly vomited her leftover meal. The owner of that small hand was none other than the infant form of Black-hearted Grandpa! His bare little body resembled a peeled boiled egg, glaringly white and shiny. He sported a sparse tuft of baby hair, and his face was wrinkled like a squashed bun.
"My heavens, what is this? Black-hearted Grandpa has turned back into a baby?" Xiao Meng thought wildly, feeling as if she were watching a low-budget horror film.
What drove her to the brink of insanity was that the baby Black-hearted Grandpa's Umbilical Cord seemed to wriggle like a lively earthworm, stretching out from the vortex straight toward Xiao Meng and Sunshine's Starry Marriage Contract!
"What the hell! What kind of operation is this? Umbilical Cord attack?" Xiao Meng was so frightened that her hair stood on end, goosebumps prickling all over her body. She felt as if her Starry Marriage Contract was a delicious cake being targeted by a disgusting snot worm.
Sunshine's face turned whiter than paper as he tightly protected Xiao Meng. "It's over, we're done for! This is really the end!" Xiao Meng lamented inwardly, feeling like a lamb waiting to be slaughtered, helplessly watching that repulsive Umbilical Cord draw closer.
Just at that critical moment, a sharp whistle pierced through the eerie silence. "The curse of the Witch Clan is about to end!" A haunting voice echoed in the air, tinged with sadness and determination.
Then, a Bone Flute descended from the sky like a bolt of lightning, piercing through all the Starlight Babies with force. The Bone Flute was entirely snow-white, exuding an ancient and mysterious aura. Intricate patterns were carved along its body, as if telling a long-buried story.
Three hundred Starlight Babies deflated instantly like popped balloons. Their bodies transformed into wisps of blue smoke, dissipating into the air. Everything came to an abrupt halt.
Silence surged like a tide, engulfing the entire space. Xiao Meng and Sunshine stood frozen in place, like two statues, utterly motionless.
In that moment, they clearly saw that the pupils of the three hundred Starlight Babies had simultaneously turned into Xiao Meng's Xing Wen!
"Mommy..." A faint voice drifted from the void, like a ghostly whisper that sent chills down their spines.
