Before long, a military Jeep came to a stop at the entrance of Guai Zi Hu Tong.
"Wang Zhaoran, you sit in the front; I'll stay in the back with Yu Suihuan!" Huo Yaojun insisted, wanting to be the first person Yu would see when she woke up.
"I don’t have any clothes on; it wouldn’t look right for me to sit in the front. It’s too embarrassing!" Wang Zhaoran grimaced in pain as he climbed into the back seat.
"Yeah, Yaojun, why don’t you come to the front?" The driver started to say, but he quickly received a warning glare from Huo Yaojun and shut his mouth, focusing on driving.
The vehicle slowly started moving, making its way down the alley. Inside the car, there was a heavy silence, broken only by the soft rumble of the engine and the sound of tires rolling over the ground.
Yu Suihuan sat between them, her face pale, lips slightly parted, and her long eyelashes fluttering gently. Wang Zhaoran sat beside her, staring intently at her as if afraid she might disappear at any moment. Huo Yaojun felt a sharp pain in his body; he glanced occasionally at Wang Zhaoran and Yu Suihuan, then out the window, worry flickering in his eyes.
The car continued steadily through several streets before stopping at the entrance of a courtyard. Huo Yaojun was the first to get out, carefully lifting Yu Suihuan into his arms and quickly walking inside. Wang Zhaoran followed behind them, each step feeling laborious.
Where am I? Yu Suihuan thought as a splitting headache throbbed in her mind, feeling as though she were being carried by someone. Slowly opening her eyes, she saw Huo Yaojun carrying her forward with long strides.
Where’s Wang Zhaoran? Yu Suihuan vaguely remembered that before she lost consciousness, it was Wang Zhaoran who had been supporting her.
Huo Yaojun felt a pang of disappointment; the first person she looked for upon waking wasn’t him. "Don’t worry; he’s right behind us and doing fine!"
Hearing Huo Yaojun say this made Wang Zhaoran feel infuriated; he was nearly exhausted—how could that be considered fine?
"Oh, just put me down, I can walk by myself. It's fine, what's going on here?"
Huo Yaojun carefully set Yu Suihuan on the ground, but she hadn’t fully regained her balance yet. Her legs wobbled, and she nearly stumbled.
Wang Zhaoran quickly stepped forward and caught her securely.
The warm sensation spread from his fingertips, and Yu Suihuan glanced in the direction of his touch.
Wow, abs!
She hadn’t expected Wang Zhaoran to have such a great physique; this guy looked slim in clothes but muscular without them!
Cough, cough, cough!
Yu Suihuan accidentally blurted out her thoughts and quickly cleared her throat to cover her embarrassment.
"Yu Suihuan!"
Wang Zhaoran called her softly.
"Hmm?"
Yu Suihuan kept her gaze straight ahead, wearing a guilty expression as if she hadn’t seen anything.
"Your hand!"
Wang Zhaoran reminded her quietly.
"Huh?"
Yu Suihuan looked confused, completely forgetting that her hand was still resting on him!
Seeing this, Huo Yaojun hurriedly helped Yu Suihuan retract her hand, his voice tinged with annoyance. "Can you at least wear your clothes properly? It's quite improper!"
After saying that, he supported Yu Suihuan and quickly led her inside.
"Hey, you! I—"
Wang Zhaoran tried to explain but winced in pain as he attempted to straighten up.
Huo Yaojun showed some compassion by making sure both of them were settled and even brought Wang Zhaoran some clothes.
Yu Suihuan took a sip of tea and noticed the two of them whispering to each other, unsure of what they were discussing.
A warm current surged within her. Although the heavens had been deceived, she suddenly felt as if she was no longer as lonely as before.
"Thank you all!" Yu Suihuan said softly, her voice filled with gratitude.
"Huh?"
