Yu Suihuan originally intended to go directly to find Wang Zhaoran, but she couldn't shake the feeling that something was off with Wang Min. After spending so much time together, she knew that deep down, Wang Min was a simple and kind-hearted person, which made her worry even more.
However, as Yu Suihuan followed her, she realized that Wang Min was not heading back to the dormitory. Instead, she climbed the stairs of the teaching building all the way to the rooftop, moving slowly toward the edge. Seeing this scene made Yu Suihuan's heart tighten; it felt eerily familiar.
"Wang Min? What are you doing here? Do you know we've all been looking for you? Come on, let’s just enjoy the breeze together!" Yu Suihuan feared that Wang Min might jump off and hurriedly approached her, pretending to be casual as she walked up beside her.
"Wang Min, how could you not invite me up here to enjoy the wind? Do you know I just got dumped?" Yu Suihuan raised her arm and wrapped it around Wang Min's neck to prevent any sudden movements.
"Dumped?"
"Yeah, I'm heartbroken! Please comfort me! Let’s sit down for a bit!" Yu Suihuan pointed to an empty space in the middle of the rooftop and led Wang Min over. They sat down on the ground together.
"Ha! I’m supposed to comfort you? I don’t even know what to do with myself!" Wang Min said, her heart aching as tears streamed down her face.
"I heard about your situation. Isn’t it just that your mother-in-law wants to force you back to the countryside?" Yu Suihuan spoke lightly, trying to gauge Wang Min's true feelings.
"Isn’t it?"
Wang Min scoffed, her voice laced with anger. "Do you think everyone has it as easy as you? You come down here like a carefree young lady! Do you have any idea what going back means for me? It means I’ll spend my life in that godforsaken place, working like a dog for their entire family! Is this how my dreams and my life are supposed to be? I fought tooth and nail for a chance to change my fate while juggling work and study, only for some ignorant old woman to ruin it all so easily! My life was destroyed just like that! Can you understand? What’s the point of me living?"
Yu Suihuan didn’t get angry; she simply listened quietly until Wang Min finished speaking.
"I'm sorry, Yu Suihuan. I really am. I'm not upset with you; I just feel pathetic!"
"You don’t have to apologize to me; I understand. So is dying your way of resisting them?"
After Yu Suihuan said this, Wang Min froze for a second, realizing that Yu Suihuan knew everything.
"You can laugh at me for being cowardly, laugh at me for being foolish. Is there any other path I can take? I don’t want to satisfy them. Seeing that old woman’s smug face makes me feel sick. So, death is not just a resistance against their manipulation of me; it is also my liberation!
Of course, there are other paths! You can spread your wings and live the life you desire!"
Ha, I’m not you! I have nothing and can barely move forward!
"If you wish, I can help you!"
I know you’re a girl, but I don’t want anyone else’s help. Even if I were to live, it would feel like a burden.
Wang Min thought Yu Suihuan would offer her financial assistance; she didn’t want to rely on others to survive. Besides, she felt that no matter where she went, she could never escape the clutches of that mother and son.
"You are not mine, but you can be for me. Help me build a new home. I promise they will never find you; I can even return your children to you!"
Yu Suihuan’s face was filled with sincerity; it didn’t seem like she was lying.
"Find me? How is that possible? Now, everywhere requires a letter of introduction. They could easily find out where I am! And my children are in their hands; how could you return them to me? By force?"
"What’s wrong with using force? Why not? As long as I can do it, isn’t that enough? As for where we’ll go, you’ll know when the time comes. I guarantee they won’t find us, and you’ll be reunited with your children!"
Yu Suihuan’s confident demeanor sparked a glimmer of trust in Wang Min.
