Anthony had considered this in advance and had contacted Charles beforehand to obtain an anonymous property from him. Located in the outskirts, it was isolated and there was no need to worry about the Investigation Bureau asking neighbors and uncovering any issues. As for this anonymous property, it had been uninhabited for a long time, accumulating dust, which was not a concern at all.
Xu Lie was officially listed as a missing person captured by Alien Life. Since it involved alien technology, disguising the scene should not be difficult. Any problems could simply be attributed to Alien Technology.
With his subordinates handling things so well, Xu Lie felt amused and smirked: "Let’s leave something for William."
As the clock approached eleven at night, William and Mers drove to the residence of Xu Lie provided by the director. The large villa in the outskirts was nestled against the mountains and beside water, boasting beautiful scenery; however, under the cover of the dark, lonely night, it appeared eerie and foreboding.
Mers frowned from the passenger seat. "Is that guy really living in a place like this?"
William shrugged nonchalantly. "Isn't it normal? I often see news about wealthy people buying land outside the city to build villas."
After stopping the car, William eagerly strode toward the villa with a sense of excitement. He had a feeling that this heroic predecessor must have left something behind for those who came after him! He was determined to find it!
"Damn it!" Mers muttered under his breath as he watched William rush toward the villa with enthusiasm. He still wanted to run away. But for some reason, during dinner, after hearing William's admiration for Xu Lie and witnessing the light in his eyes, he inexplicably followed along.
Could it be that he also shared William's sense of justice? Unable to comprehend this thought, Mers could only keep his head down and follow.
The villa was unlocked, with all doors and windows wide open. Upon entering without turning on the lights, both William and Mers pulled out small flashlights equipped for search teams to illuminate their surroundings.
Mers shone his light around and noticed a thin layer of dust. "Are you sure you didn’t get the wrong place? It looks like no one has lived here for a long time."
William's pupils remained bright, showing no signs of defeat or frustration. "Don't forget, the fire was captured by Alien Life. If they can easily disguise themselves as humans, creating a bit of dust here would be even simpler. Perhaps there's a little gadget in Alien Technology that, with the push of a button, could fill the entire room with dust."
That bright gaze gave Mers an illusion of seeing a younger version of Director Anthony. Their superior, Anthony, had eyes that sparkled just like that.
The question was, if the aliens had disguised this place, had they also searched it? Had they taken everything they could? Even if Xu Lie had left some backup plan, it might have been destroyed or taken by the aliens right on the spot. What else could they find?
After an hour of searching inside and out on the first floor of the villa, they found nothing. Not only were there no remnants left by Xu Lie, but even the food supplies were untouched. The water and electricity were still functioning; during their search, if their hands got dirty, they could easily wash them.
Mers felt particularly grateful for his decision to eat at a convenience store. If he had completely trusted William, he would have ended up starving here.
In the early hours of the morning, the two made their way to the villa's upper floor, heading straight for the master bedroom. After rummaging through it for a while, they accidentally triggered something that caused Light and Shadow to rise again, forming an image of Xu Lie once more. However, this time it was not as large as the UFO projection but rather a normal human size.
