Wei Zhuangzhu could not help but feel anger rise within him. While he was adept at navigating the complexities of human relationships, he was not without his temper! Even a strong dragon does not trample on the local snake; how could these people disregard him so blatantly? Who could tolerate such disrespect? In the world of martial arts, one's reputation was paramount.
He had invested considerable effort and resources to provide a place for wandering heroes to rest and dine, hoping to cultivate a reputation of honor and camaraderie. How could he allow years of hard work to be tarnished by others?
Several individuals stood before him, and Wei Zhuangzhu rose from his seat, his tone decidedly unfriendly. "You are guests here. If you would kindly state your purpose, and if this gentleman, Chen Shao Xia, does not mind, I can invite you to sit down and enjoy some refreshments. However, barging in like this—disregarding any sense of decorum—is simply unacceptable."
The leader, Song Qiao, along with A Gang, seemed uninterested in Wei Zhuangzhu's words and instead focused their attention on Chen Tao.
A Gang addressed him directly. "Chen Shao Xia? You must be Chen Tao?"
Song Qiao glanced at A Gang before adding, "Yu Men's Chen Tao?"
Wei Zhuangzhu's expression darkened. Did these people truly have no regard for him? How dare they ignore him so openly?
Chen Tao, unaware of the underlying tensions, noticed that the strangers were all staring at him and that they were familiar with Yu Men. He felt a flicker of confusion. Were these unfamiliar faces somehow connected to Yu Men?
Though he was uncertain, Chen Tao politely rose and clasped his fists together. "Indeed, that is me. May I ask what brings you here?"
Before he could finish his question, A Gang burst into laughter, cutting him off. "Haha! I've been running around asking so many people; finally found you! A Noble Person is looking for you. Come with me!"
As A Gang stepped forward to lead him away, Wei Zhuangzhu could no longer contain himself. "You are being too unreasonable! I have treated you with courtesy, yet you have repeatedly insulted me. Do you think my Zhuang Master’s blade is dull? I do not care what business you have with Chen Shao Xia; he is the savior of my daughter’s life, and I will not allow you to act recklessly here!"
A Gang looked at Wei Zhuangzhu as if he were a fool, puzzled by the old man's sudden outburst and his mention of a blade's sharpness. Did he really think his kitchen knife was more formidable than the might of Da Qian’s three hundred thousand troops?
Scratching the back of his head in frustration, A Gang turned to Song Qiao for guidance; after all, this elder had the most experience.
Song Qiao feigned nonchalance as he leaned back slightly, revealing his connections. "Oh? So you're saying you're going to oppose the Prince?"
"Be sensible and don't interfere; if you annoy His Highness, be careful of facing dire consequences."
In the eyes of ancient heroes, as long as it wasn't the end of a dynasty marked by desolation, the royal family still needed the support of the people. Occasionally, there were corrupt officials, but to these heroes, it was merely a case of a rogue minister rather than a rogue emperor.
Thus, being tasked with a mission for the prince made Song Qiao particularly proud; he had no intention of hiding it.
Chen Tao's expression grew excited. "Prince? You are princes?! Tell me, is Yu Men related to you?!"
He had never forgotten that the last words of the Yu Men Elder before his death were about a prince.
Meanwhile, the audience following the drama was also getting hyped up.
"Wow, it's only the end of this episode, and the big bad is about to make an appearance?"
"This is just the beginning; they probably sent in some weaklings to give the male lead experience. The real confrontation with the prince will come later."
"I still don't understand. The Dynasty Prince seems so idle. Why would he bother with Yu Men? Chen Tao is the only survivor and is still being pursued by the prince's forces. What does the prince want?"
