The smoke detector blared, and Xu Lie quickly took her hand, leading her away. On their way, they encountered staff members helping with the evacuation. Lu Youyou's voice rose significantly as she shouted the answer to the problem: Evacuate!
The earlier arson was precisely to ensure everyone could escape. The two of them, who had been whispering to each other, suddenly drew the attention of those around them with Lu Youyou's high-pitched exclamation.
"Is that Lu Youyou with Ah Lie? It seems like they have something going on!"
"Shh, don’t say anything. Yuanliang is still here."
What’s happening? They were holding hands when they just came out of the Gene Building.
Lu Youyou realized her mistake and glanced at Panpan, feeling conflicted and wanting to punch Xu Lie a few times in frustration.
What a misunderstanding!
Fortunately, their homeroom teacher seemed reassured, thinking that Lu Youyou was merely concerned about others: when the fire alarm first went off, the building staff had already begun evacuating people. There was no need for Lu Youyou to worry too much.
Lu Youyou quickly followed her teacher's lead, nodding her head repeatedly like a chick pecking at grains.
After finally escaping the awkward atmosphere, Lu Youyou, despite her earlier anger, leaned in to Xu Lie and whispered, "I’m sorry for what I said before; it was a bit too much."
The young girl hadn’t yet stepped into the meeting but was pure-hearted and kind. Learning that Xu Lie had set off the fire alarm to evacuate people made her feel guilty. She thought her earlier accusation of him being a murderer was too harsh.
As she apologized, Lu Youyou carefully observed Xu Lie's actions; even in revenge, he didn’t wish to harm anyone. Such a person was indeed quite pitiful.
Xu Lie chuckled softly; deep down, he thought this Female Second Lead was a bit clueless. Even if he hadn’t killed anyone, he had still orchestrated a genuine act of terror.
Lu Youyou had no reason to apologize for her previous accusations.
Her laughter immediately drew Lu Youyou's sharp gaze: "What are you laughing at?"
What kind of person finds it funny when someone sincerely apologizes?
Xu Lie didn’t indulge her: "You were so haughty before and now you’re all humble; it’s amusing."
Lu Youyou gritted her teeth in frustration. How was she being haughty? She was just acknowledging her mistake! "And what about you? Weren't you crying earlier and asking me to keep it a secret?"
Come on, let’s hurt each other!
"I was just affected by the smoke," Xu Lie chose to be honest.
It is evident that sometimes, the truth is not believed.
Lu Youyou's expression immediately turned smug. "Lying? Forget it, I won't hold it against you. After all, you're a big person and should let it go."
"Anyway, if you stop here, I might consider keeping your secret. You can say you've completed your revenge and shouldn't continue doing bad things."
Deep down, Lu Youyou was kind-hearted and knew that continuing this topic would lead to discussing Xu Lie's deceased sister, which would touch on Xu Lie's painful memories. So she decided to drop it.
After all, she had won the argument, and Lu Youyou thought happily about that. Little did she know, their playful banter was making the surrounding students increasingly uneasy.
"Haha, I can't take it anymore! I'm laughing so hard my stomach hurts. Female Second Lead, you really need to be more careful! Xu Lie's classmates are probably full from all this gossip!"
"What about the male lead? Is the photographer really this clueless? Nan Er and Female Second Lead are having such a good time; shouldn't we get a close-up of our male lead's expression right now?"
"This is hilarious! I thought we were in for some painful love triangle drama, but why does watching Nan Er and Female Second Lead bring so much joy?"
"Oh, Youyou, my naive Youyou! With Nan Er's personality, how could you persuade him with just a few words? He's out for revenge against the Marriage Law; just blowing up one Gene Building isn't enough."
