Lin Zhao Cheng raised the small knife, his hand trembling slightly as cold sweat trickled down his forehead. His legs felt weak, barely able to support him. 0

This was the first time in his life he was about to kill a "person." 0

No, these were no longer people. 0

He forced himself to take a deep breath, suppressing the fear within him, his gaze fixed intently on the soulless body before him. Then— 0

"Thud—!" 0

The knife plunged deeply into the person's neck! 0

However, there was no spray of blood as he had imagined, no sound of bones shattering—only a strange, muffled noise that resembled piercing through decaying leather, causing Lin Zhao Cheng's stomach to twist in knots. 0

This sensation felt nothing like stabbing a living being; it was more akin to puncturing a withered sack of flesh! 0

"Ahhhhh—!!!" 0

A shrill scream suddenly erupted in his ears! 0

Lin Zhao Cheng was so startled that his soul nearly left his body; his arm jerked violently, almost losing grip on the knife! 0

The "person" suddenly began thrashing wildly, like a beast abruptly awakened from slumber. Its limbs convulsed violently, and its head twisted at an unnatural angle, emitting a chilling shriek! 0

"Damn—!!!" 0

Lin Zhao Cheng's eyes widened in terror; his body instinctively wanted to retreat, but his hand still gripped the knife, which remained embedded in the other's neck! 0

If he let go now, that thing might lunge at him and tear him apart! 0

“Shut up! Shut up!!” 0

His eyes were bloodshot as he pressed down hard on the other person's shoulder, forcing him to stay still, then suddenly drew his knife! 0

“Thud—!” 0

The emaciated body trembled violently, a pained howl escaping its throat, yet no blood flowed; only a dark red, cracked wound appeared, as if a layer of dead skin had been sliced open. 0

“Ughhh—!!!” 0

This eerie scream echoed in the silent space, sending chills down one’s spine. 0

What was worse— 0

The other “people” began to move! 0

Those once motionless, gaunt figures swayed slightly, then slowly turned their heads… 0

Countless hollow, lifeless eyes all fixed on Lin Zhao Cheng. 0

They were drawn to the sound!!! 0

“Damn… this is bad!” 0

Lin Zhao Cheng’s heart raced as he gripped the knife tightly, not thinking twice before lunging forward and stabbing at the “person” in front of him repeatedly! 0

“Shut up! Just shut up!!” 0

“Thud! Thud! Thud!” 0

The blade plunged into the body again and again, yet the opponent did not fall. Instead, it began to thrash wildly, its voice becoming even more distorted! 0

How on earth can I kill it?! 0

Lin Zhao Cheng's heart raced, his mind a chaotic whirlwind, but there was no time to think as the "people" around him stepped closer and closer... 0

"Thud—!" 0

A cold and deadly glint flashed by, and Lin Zhao Cheng barely registered the movement before a head rolled onto the ground. 0

"Thump—" 0

The withered head hit the ground heavily, rolling twice before finally stopping at Lin Zhao Cheng's feet. 0

The twisted face still gaped wide, as if frozen in a moment of terror and pain before death, yet its body fell like a marionette with cut strings, rigid and lifeless, without a single drop of blood spilling from the neck. 0

Lin Zhao Cheng's pupils constricted violently, his entire being seemingly nailed to the spot, the small knife in his hand trembling uncontrollably! 0

He had no idea what had just happened! 0

"Damn it! Why are you just standing there?!" 0

William shouted sharply, his axe dripping with an unknown dark liquid. His gaze was sharper than before, filled with battle intent. 0

Only then did Lin Zhao Cheng snap back to reality, looking up to see William crouched slightly beside him, body leaning forward in a stance ready for combat. 0

"Hey! Stop daydreaming! They're coming! Get ready!" 0

Lin Zhao Cheng suddenly came to his senses and followed William's gaze, only to realize— 0

Without knowing when, the figures around them began to slowly close in! 0

About ten emaciated shadows silently surrounded them. Though their movements were sluggish, they carried an eerie sense of pressure, each step seeming to announce the approach of death. 0

Their eyes remained hollow, their skin cracked, and their mouths slightly ajar, resembling rotting puppets that could not close. From deep within their throats came low, strange moans, as if they were souls from another world. 0

"Ugh... ah..." 0

"Damn..." Lin Zhao Cheng felt his throat dry with tension. He instinctively took a step back, the small knife in his hand trembling slightly, only then realizing that his palms were already soaked with cold sweat! 0

"What the hell... how do they kill?!" 0

William tightened his grip on the axe and said coldly, "Chop off their heads, or keep chopping until they can't move." 0

"If you want to survive, keep up!" 0

With that, William let out a roar, gripping the axe tightly as he swung it fiercely at the nearest emaciated figure! 0

"Ha—!!!" 0

"Thud—!!!" 0

The blade struck hard into the creature's shoulder, cleaving its body in half. Thick dark liquid oozed from the wound, releasing a foul odor! 0

However, the figure that had been struck let out no sound of pain and even attempted to reach out for William! 0

"What the hell are these things?!" 0

Lin Zhao Cheng's heart raced, his breath quickened, and only one thought remained in his mind— 0

He couldn't die here!! 0

He clenched his teeth, gripping the small knife tightly, forcing himself into a fighting state. Taking a deep breath, he prepared to face the battle ahead. 0

The fight for survival had officially begun! 0

Lin Zhao Cheng swung the knife wildly, no longer caring who he was stabbing or how many times he had thrust it. His movements became increasingly imprecise, driven purely by instinct as he hacked and stabbed relentlessly. 0

"Die! Die! Die!!!" 0

He roared, his eyes bloodshot, like a beast cornered with no way out. Each strike was filled with unrestrained madness, the blade sinking into withered bodies, pulling out, and stabbing again. He no longer thought about whether it hurt; all he knew was— 0

He couldn't stop! If he stopped, he would die!! 0

"Thud! Thud! Thud!" 0

The small knife plunged repeatedly into those desiccated forms—sometimes piercing chests, sometimes slashing throats, and at times merely grazing faces. But Lin Zhao Cheng could no longer think; he didn't even know if he was hitting "vital areas." All that mattered was to keep moving, keep hacking, keep stabbing! 0

Dark red fluid splattered everywhere, mingling with a strange black viscous substance that sprayed onto his face, body, and arms, even seeping into his clothes, bringing a cold and slimy feeling that made him nauseous. 0

He gasped for breath, unable to distinguish whether the metallic taste in his mouth belonged to the enemy or himself. 0

"Hah... Hah... Hah..." 0

His breathing was heavy and frantic. The world around him seemed to blur and twist; time appeared to stand still, replaced by an endless slaughter. 0

This feeling... it was like an overdose on drugs! 0

His body had surpassed rationality, entering a state of near-numb madness. His brain no longer considered where each stab should go; his arms simply swung the knife repeatedly like a killing machine that had been activated, unable to stop. 0

But the enemies were still increasing! 0

Those eerie, emaciated figures, even though pierced, slashed, and torn, did not fall. Some twisted their bodies to continue advancing, while others even reached out to grab his arm, trying to pull him into that realm of Death's Darkness! 0

"Damn it! Get away!!!" 0

Lin Zhao Cheng roared, exerting all his strength to swing his knife, severing the fingers of a monster that had tightly grasped his arm. The severed Monster Hand fell to the ground with a thud, still twitching slightly. 0

At that moment— 0

"Clang!!" 0

A metallic clash echoed as the knife in his hand suddenly got stuck! 0

Lin Zhao Cheng froze for a moment and looked down, only to see the blade embedded in a person's shoulder, unable to pull it out! 0

"Damn! This is bad!" 0

He desperately tried to yank the knife free, but that brief pause had already allowed the surrounding enemies to close in on him… 0
