As they gradually converged, getting closer, they began to flick their tongues at each other, lifting their upper bodies and swaying left and right. The White Snake Elder gestured towards the two snakes, saying, "There's no need for all that trouble. These two little fellows I keep have been fighting all day."
The man in the black robe said nothing more; he merely exchanged a glance with the White Snake Elder before slowly unfurling a scroll with both hands. It wasn't that this task required much effort; he was simply concerned about any misunderstandings the White Snake Elder might have. He wanted to ensure that the Elder could see every movement clearly.
As the scroll opened, a faint white light flickered and drifted toward the two snakes at an incredibly slow pace. A glimmer of understanding flashed in the White Snake Elder's eyes. No wonder that Great Mage from hundreds of years ago didn’t directly use the Sevenfold Covenant Magic. Instead, he went through the trouble of gathering the Seven Great Lords to sign an oath together.
It turned out that this Covenant Magic had such limitations; at this speed, even a child could easily evade it. Animals could sense the danger of the white light, yet the two opposing snakes continued to flick their tongues at each other, standing their ground as they were hit by the Covenant Magic.
In the next moment, it was as if they had found common ground; they intertwined gracefully, their necks crossing as they ceased their aggressive posturing.
"Is this a special effect? Or does the crew have someone who can charm snakes? How could they make two snakes perform so well?"
"Must be computer-generated. I can't believe the crew could control them so perfectly."
"Maybe they really do have a mage in the crew who knows Covenant Magic."
The black-robed man finally discarded the torn scroll and asked, "Old Xian, are you willing to sign a pact this time?"
The White Snake Elder did not immediately agree but calmly observed while secretly employing some unique magic to investigate quietly. He found no traces of mental or charm magic.
After careful consideration, he concluded that it was likely just the effect of Covenant Magic. He then relaxed most of his guard and chuckled, "Haha, it seems I was overly cautious and misunderstood you. This Covenant Magic is truly impressive; if possible, I would love to study it myself."
The man in black also sighed in relief and pulled out another scroll identical to the previous one. "No problem. After we successfully develop it, we will replicate many Covenant Magic Scrolls. But if Old Xian wants to study it, we will need to sign a pact first."
"That is only natural." The White Snake Elder agreed while signaling for the black-robed man to proceed with his casting. At that moment, Bai She, which had been coiling around the elder, slowly slid down to the ground, maintaining an appropriate distance from him.
Bai She moved closer to the figure in the black robe.
Though the two scrolls appeared identical on the outside, it did not mean that the magic inscribed within them was the same. If this new magic differed in any way, no matter how slight, from the Covenant Magic previously unleashed by the figure in black, the White Snake Elder would not hesitate to act.
The figure in black slowly unfurled the scroll, and a similar soft white light emerged, with a strand weaving into the black-robed figure while the remainder floated toward the elder.
Not noticing any difference, the elder hesitated for a moment, feeling the frustration of being suppressed by the Truth School over the past three years. Finally, he gritted his teeth and chose not to evade. He allowed the white light to enter his body. In the next instant, he experienced a strange sensation; he found himself feeling no wariness toward the figure in black and even secretly commanded Bai She to return swiftly.
Impressive, truly impressive! The White Snake Elder quickly checked himself but found no traces of magic; yet he could not harbor any thoughts of harming the figure in black. In fact, he felt an urge to assist him.
The figure in black then smiled lightly and produced more than ten scrolls at once: as if Old Xian had known about the other Evil Mages.
He requested that Old Xian extend an invitation to form an alliance. The remaining scrolls would be provided for Old Xian's research. Once Old Xian invited the other Evil Mages, they would gather in the Azure Radiance Kingdom to plunder valuable resources from the Truth School together.
