Outside the window, the grass was lush and the orioles flew, while petals danced lightly in the breeze. Inside the classroom, the students' pens glided across the paper like fine sand sinking into the deep sea. Xu Lie, among the twenty or so students, paid no attention to the scenery outside nor took any notes; instead, he was engrossed in reading Danmaku.

As he glanced at the rapidly scrolling Danmaku that only he could see, Xu Lie couldn't help but marvel at the wonders of the company. He was not a local high school student; in his past life, he had died unexpectedly but hadn’t fully passed on. He was then captured by a company that produced films and television dramas across various worlds.
He had to perform in scripts from different worlds for the company and make those performances spectacular enough to earn high rewards for resurrection and escape. Even in death, one must continue to work—truly, we are extraordinary beings.
This was Xu Lie's first drama, Not Allowed to Fall in Love Freely, which was considered one of the easiest youth romance dramas with no inherent dangers. Future script worlds might pose risks, but it didn’t matter; actors wouldn’t die—they would simply return to the company after filming wrapped.
The story was set against a backdrop of a Population Crisis, leading to the enactment of a New Marriage Law that assigned spouses based on Gene Matching as a means to boost birth rates and ensure that new couples could have many children. The plot revolved around the male and female leads falling for each other, while the male lead was matched with the Female Second Lead through Gene Matching, unfolding a series of bittersweet triangular love stories.
In theory, this kind of script offered Xu Lie ample room for creativity. Whether it involved inserting himself into a love quadrangle or undermining someone else's relationship, he could enhance the drama and make it more engaging. Yet, Xu Lie had little interest in melodramatic love stories. Even though this was his second chance at life within the company’s framework, why should he conform?
He needed to stir things up—he had to create some chaos!
As the Danmaku gradually faded and the unseen camera disappeared, Xu Lie discreetly manipulated his phone from his desk drawer. The films and television dramas produced by the company were not edited in post-production; they were filmed as they were shot. High-dimensional intelligent cameras captured events across time, automatically presenting stories in their most perfect form.
In this drama, Xu Lie experienced time differently than the audience watching through Danmaku. To them, one moment it was class time, and in the next instant, it was over; there was no way they could film an entire lesson—who would want to watch such a show? Meanwhile, Xu Lie himself had to endure this fifty-minute class diligently.
Don't ask why a class isn't forty minutes long; this is another world. Who would have thought I could return to high school and play on my phone? Xu Lie felt both awkward and somewhat skilled as he kept an eye on the teacher while discreetly controlling his phone with his peripheral vision.
The screen displayed a small robot silently setting up various gadgets. This Smart Mini Robot cost Xu Lie fifty points. To make the script more exciting, actors could spend points to purchase anything from the company, including but not limited to skills, techniques, bloodlines, and scientific knowledge or inventions.
The company provided each actor with an initial fund of five hundred points, and beyond that, there was no further assistance. If they wanted more points, actors could only earn them based on their performance evaluations after the show.
The Smart Mini Robot was priced at one hundred and forty points, but Xu Lie trimmed down many of its features to acquire it for fifty points. He carefully set it up until the class bell rang, signaling the teacher's departure. The homeroom teacher then entered the classroom: "Everyone, pack up and head to the playground to take the bus."
The students, who had been focused on their studies and were slightly fatigued, perked up at the announcement. They grabbed their backpacks and rushed out: "Finally, it's our class's turn to visit the Gene Testing Building!"
