At that moment, a figure flew in from the distance. Lin Feng had just left the court and was passing by when he inadvertently raised his eyes and saw Liang Siqi about to be harassed by a group of hooligans. Without a second thought, Lin Feng rushed forward and stood in front of Liang Siqi.
The hooligans glared at Lin Feng, their plans thwarted by his sudden appearance. Dressed in luxurious clothing and possessing an impressive appearance, Lin Feng was clearly not an ordinary person. However, these rough ruffians did not recognize the insignia on his attire; they only sensed that he must belong to some influential family.
"Who does this kid think he is, meddling in our business?" one of them sneered. Unfazed, Lin Feng replied coldly, "In broad daylight, you dare to bully a weak woman? Do you have no respect for the King's Law?"
The hooligans burst into laughter. "The King's Law? Today, you'll learn just how powerful we are!" With that, they lunged at Lin Feng.
Just as Lin Feng was about to take action, the guards following him stepped forward. Their swords were still sheathed, but the sight of them made the ruffians hesitate; it was clear that these were not ordinary people. Without wasting any time, the guards swiftly dispatched the hooligans with ease.
Seeing this unfold, Liang Siqi felt a surge of gratitude and bowed slightly. "Thank you for your timely rescue."
Lin Feng waved his hand dismissively. "No need for thanks, Miss. It was just a small effort."
At that moment, Liang Siqi caught a clear glimpse of Lin Feng's face and felt her cheeks flush slightly. Meanwhile, Lin Feng looked at the beautiful woman before him and felt an unusual stir in his heart.
"Wait a minute! Isn’t this the person I saw in the Imperial Palace Hall? He seems to be a prince," she thought.
"Miss, since you're safe now, I'll take my leave," Lin Feng said, unaware of her recognition.
With the situation resolved, Lin Feng prepared to return home. Once back at his residence, he acted as if nothing had happened and pushed the earlier events out of his mind.
However, for Liang Siqi, everything held a completely different significance. She had been in Wu City for several days and had never encountered such a situation before. After all, this was the capital; one would expect it to be the safest place. She never anticipated that something like this could occur.
Fortunately, she had crossed paths with Lin Feng.
Liang Siqi had lost all desire to continue wandering and hurried back to Guanyin Inn, eager to share what had just happened with her brother, Liang Yan.
As soon as she stepped through the door of Guanyin Inn, she barely found her footing before exclaiming, "Er Ge! Something terrible almost happened to me!"
Hearing this, Xia Yan, who had been quietly reading at the table, suddenly looked up with a concerned expression. He quickly rose and rushed to his sister's side, anxiously asking, "What? You almost got into trouble? Are you hurt anywhere?"
Seeing her brother's worried face, Liang Siqi quickly shook her head and gently reassured him, "Er Ge, don't worry. I'm not hurt."
Upon hearing his sister confirm that she was fine, Liang Yan's heart finally eased a bit. However, he still scrutinized her closely and asked repeatedly, "Are you really okay? Don't hide anything from your brother."
Liang Siqi smiled and lightly patted Liang Yan's arm, comforting him further. "Er Ge, there's no need to worry. I'm really fine. But it was indeed a bit scary; thankfully, nothing serious happened."
After a brief pause, she added, "And guess what? I even ran into someone today—someone important! They were standing in the fourth position at the Imperial Palace Hall. Do you know who that is?"
Liang Yan furrowed his brow and pressed for more details. "What happened?"
He tried to recall the events in the grand hall but couldn't remember anyone significant; perhaps he had been too focused or nervous to notice.
"I don't know either. It's my first time in Wu Kingdom; how could I possibly know anyone?" Liang Siqi waved her hand dismissively.
"Alright then," Liang Yan nodded in agreement. "Just be more careful next time you go out."
He then cautioned her, "It's essential to bring along more guards for your safety. We can't afford to be careless; if something were to happen..."
Liang Siqi obediently replied, "I understand, Er Ge. I'll remember that."
By the way, Er Ge, I brought you your favorite snacks! Come and try them!"
As she spoke, she magically produced a beautifully wrapped package of treats from her sleeve and presented it to Liang Yan.
