Li Tian Ci recalled his mother's words. Indeed, our family is different!
His mother had taken him out and defeated Hilichurls with just two strikes, causing water to gush forth. Although he had heard of the God's Eye, his mother clearly did not possess one. How then did she manage to unleash such torrents?
"Don't think about how to create water streams," he reminded himself. "This is swordsmanship, albeit a weak form of it, not suited for you."
Sera noticed her child's gaze; she understood that her child was unique and that their future paths would surely diverge. While Water Breathing still held potential, it was not appropriate for her child.
Li Tian Ci had no desire to pursue it anyway; after all, his mother had said it was unsuitable for him, and he was obedient. He continued deeper into the forest.
Monsters kept rushing outward, seemingly drawn by Simba's presence. Li Tian Ci observed the surrounding monsters, all around level fifty, and contemplated before deciding not to turn back. These ordinary-level monsters should pose no threat to Simba, right?
Simba had regional prowess, and with Li Tian Ci's extraordinary state enhancing him, he could even contend with monsters from higher tiers. Even if they were all level sixty creatures, they wouldn't be able to threaten him in any significant way.
To be fair, the higher-level monsters seemed to have grown considerably in size. Among them were a bunch of Skeleton Warriors towering at three meters high. There were also many zombies and similar creatures; while Spirit Monsters didn't appear larger, they seemed more solidified.
These monsters merely glanced curiously at Li Tian Ci as they passed by before continuing their rush outward. Although Li Tian Ci didn’t dislike skeletal beings or spirits, they were still quite different from the human forms he was accustomed to seeing, so he preferred not to get too close.
After walking a bit further, he came across a dilapidated palace-like structure. It was in ruins, with a large hole in the roof and cracks scattered across the walls.
Li Tian Ci walked in.
Inside was a large hall, with a big hole in the ceiling allowing sunlight to pour in, illuminating the center of the space. There were no other light sources in the hall, but the sunlight reflected enough to make the surroundings visible.
At the far end of the hall stood a platform with a cross on it, where a person was bound. The figure had their head lowered, making it difficult to discern their gender, but judging by the chest, it seemed to be female. After all, Li Tian Ci had never encountered a man with such pronounced pectoral muscles.
As Li Tian Ci approached for a closer look, it became clear that it was indeed a woman. There was some aura about her, but it wasn't that of a living person; rather, it felt like she had already passed away, as if her soul still lingered within her body.
"Who are you?" Li Tian Ci asked directly.
After a moment of silence following Li Tian Ci's question, the female corpse finally reacted. Her head moved slightly before she abruptly lifted it. The eye sockets appeared hollow as if they had been gouged out, her nose was missing, and blood trickled from the corners of her mouth where a tongue should have been. Her collarbone had been pierced by nails, and both her hands and feet were shackled, her limbs bound tightly to the cross with thick ropes.
The female corpse stared at Li Tian Ci for quite some time without eyes. Li Tian Ci felt no particular emotion; he simply sensed that the woman before him could not see him clearly.
"You must have your soul trapped here too; how can you see without eyes?" he remarked.
The corpse seemed to realize why she couldn't see clearly and recalled that she had no eyes.
"I remember now; my eyes were taken," she said in a flat tone devoid of any emotion, as if merely stating an unrelated fact.
"Hello, Little One. My name is Anna. Though I cannot see with my eyes, I can sense your soul. You are very young, as if just born; however, your soul energy is indeed stronger than anything I have ever encountered."
Though Anna could not see with her eyes, she could sense souls—though only those that possessed one.
Li Tian Ci nodded in acknowledgment.
"Would you like to be my friend?" she asked.
"Friend? Me? Are you willing to be friends with a Supervisor?"
Anna's tone was filled with sarcasm.
