Surrounded by bandits, the atmosphere grew tense in an instant. Fu Xingchen tightened his grip on his longsword and glared at the Bandit Leader, shouting, "You vile thieves will not succeed!"
The Bandit Leader laughed disdainfully. "Then let me show you my fists! You’ve ruined our plans, and today, none of you will leave alive!" With a wave of his hand, the bandits charged forward, brandishing their blades toward Su Yizhi and the others.
Mu Yunfan quickly thrust his sword, driving back several of the front-line bandits. He shouted, "Brothers, let these scoundrels see our strength!" Su Yizhi was equally fierce, wielding his sword with precision. The clash of blades and cries of battle filled the air.
Though Lin Yu lacked martial skills, he stayed in the middle of the group, continuously strategizing for everyone. "Brother Su, their left flank is weak; we can break through there!" Hearing this, Su Yizhi immediately led a few people to attack the left side.
Fu Xingchen fought valiantly among the enemy ranks. When a bandit attempted to ambush him from behind, he swiftly turned and thrust his sword backward, taking down the attacker. He shouted, "Everyone hold your ground! Don’t panic!"
However, the sheer number of bandits began to overwhelm Su Yizhi and his companions. Mu Yunfan suffered a cut on his arm, blood staining his sleeve.
At that moment, a sudden sound of galloping hooves echoed from afar. The group was startled, unsure if friend or foe approached. A group of men in black rode swiftly toward them, led by a grim-faced man named Li Mingxiao, followed closely by a cold-looking woman named Leng Wuhen.
Li Mingxiao sneered. "Hmph! I thought you would be formidable; it seems you are nothing special." Leng Wuhen stood silently beside him, her expression icy.
Su Yizhi felt a sense of dread wash over him; he had heard rumors that these two were henchmen of a mysterious organization and that their intentions were sinister. He called out, "What scheme do you have in collusion with these bandits?"
Li Mingxiao scoffed. "You roam around acting as heroes and have disrupted our plans. Today is your death day!" With that, he signaled for the men in black to join the fray.
Fury ignited within Fu Xingchen as he charged at Li Mingxiao, shouting, "You scoundrels will meet a terrible end!" Li Mingxiao did not back down; he drew his longsword and engaged Fu Xingchen in battle.
Li Mingxiao's swordplay was devious and challenging for Fu Xingchen to counter at first. Yet with unwavering determination, he continued to hold his ground against Li Mingxiao.
Mu Yunfan saw Fu Xingchen in trouble and wanted to rush to help, but was stopped by Leng Wuhen. With a soft whip in hand, Leng Wuhen struck out, the whip slicing through the air with a sharp whistle. Mu Yunfan could only respond cautiously, searching for a flaw in Leng Wuhen's technique.
On Su Yizhi's side, he had to deal with the bandits while also guarding against the ambushes from the men in black, which added immense pressure. Yet he remained calm and composed, leading his team to resist fiercely.
Lin Yu watched anxiously from the sidelines. Suddenly, he spotted a stone on the ground and had a flash of inspiration. He picked it up and threw it at one of the bandits. The stone struck the bandit squarely on the head, causing him to scream in pain. Inspired, Lin Yu continued to pick up stones and hurl them at the enemies.
Li Hu also showcased his strengths, wielding a long knife as he charged through the enemy ranks. His great strength and fierce blade work instilled fear among the bandits.
The battle had reached a stalemate, with both sides suffering heavy casualties. Although Su Yizhi and his team fought valiantly, the number of enemies continued to grow, putting them in an increasingly perilous situation.
Fu Xingchen exchanged blows with Li Mingxiao for several rounds and gradually deciphered Li Mingxiao's swordplay patterns. Seizing an opportunity, he unleashed a move called "Meteor Chasing the Moon," thrusting his sword towards Li Mingxiao. Caught off guard by this sudden attack, Li Mingxiao was unable to evade in time and suffered a cut on his arm.
"You..." Li Mingxiao exclaimed in shock and anger, but there was no time for further thought as Fu Xingchen pressed his advantage with an even more unpredictable swordplay.
On Mu Yunfan's side, it seemed he had found a flaw in Leng Wuhen's defense. He feigned vulnerability, and Leng Wuhen took the bait, swinging her whip toward his chest. Mu Yunfan sidestepped and seized the whip, pulling it forcefully which caused Leng Wuhen to lean forward. Taking advantage of this moment, he kicked her in the chest, sending her stumbling back before she fell to the ground.
Seeing Fu Xingchen and Mu Yunfan gaining the upper hand filled Su Yizhi with joy.
Realizing their situation was turning dire, the bandits began to panic. The Bandit Leader shouted, "Don't panic! Hold your ground!" However, his words fell on deaf ears as some of his men began to flee in all directions.
Li Mingxiao sensed that things were going south and shot Fu Xingchen a fierce glare. "Consider yourselves lucky today; next time won't be so easy!" With that, he hurriedly retreated with the men in black.
Panting heavily, Su Yizhi said, "That was truly a close call; we owe our success to everyone's teamwork." Fu Xingchen wiped the blood from his sword and replied, "These evil forces won't let us off easily; we must proceed with caution."
