Just as Shen Ling finished changing into his combat suit, his watch suddenly vibrated.
Curious, he opened it to find a message from Sun Tunan.
"I heard from Senior Sister that you’ve joined our research lab? Congratulations! By now, you should have contracted a Catastrophe Beast, right? Come to the Test Field and let’s see how much your strength has improved since the contract!"
Shen Ling had been planning to head to the Test Field to test Ya Zai's current strength, so he naturally accepted Sun Tunan's invitation without hesitation.

After the tests were completed, Sun Tunan’s gaze towards Shen Ling had grown increasingly complex.
Shen Ling pretended not to notice and treated it as a warm-up exercise before asking,
"Senior Brother, I heard from Senior Sister that you also offer training for battling Catastrophe Beasts. I’d like to give it a try."
"Oh? You’re eager for a fight right after signing the contract? Isn’t your Catastrophe Beast still in its juvenile form?"
Shen Ling chuckled, "Senior Sister gave me a few Enhanced potions, and it has already grown to a high-level Spirit Beast."
As he spoke, he summoned Ya Zai.

As soon as Ya Zai appeared, it let out a low growl, flames erupting from its body with an overwhelming presence.
Sun Tunan focused his gaze, and the teasing expression on his face vanished instantly.
The reason was simple: Sun Tunan's glasses had a built-in combat power detection function, and he could already gauge Ya Zai's strength.
"Talent: Flame Body? Not bad, not bad. This Catastrophe Beast is quite compatible with you."

"My last tamed beast has just reached Elite Level, with a combat power of 150. If you can last three minutes, I'll consider it a win for you."
As he spoke, a spatial fluctuation appeared behind Sun Tunan, and a sleek, dark blue wolf beast emerged, its form agile and marked by a silver crescent moon emblem on its forehead.
The Maple Leaf Wolf?
Shen Ling was naturally aware of this type of catastrophe beast. In addition to inheriting the high agility and accuracy typical of the wolf clan's catastrophe beasts, it also had the potential to evolve into the Silver Moon Wolf, and even further into the Silver Moon Wolf King.

Sun Tunan thought that Ya Zai had been injured from the impact and relaxed a bit. However, he was taken by surprise when Ya Zai suddenly unleashed two beams of red flames from its mouth.

Sun Tunan quickly realized that Ya Zai was preparing for a ranged attack and hurriedly ordered everyone to dodge.
The Maple Leaf Wolf reacted swiftly, with both beams of flame striking only the ground nearby. Just as one person and one beast had begun to relax, they noticed a confident glint in Ya Zai's eyes.

The moment the flames hit the ground, two explosions rang out in succession, showcasing Ya Zai's talent: Explosive Flame.
Amidst the smoke, although the Maple Leaf Wolf remained upright, its aura had weakened significantly, leaving it without any fighting power. Sun Tunan first recalled it into the Contract Space before casting a complex look at Shen Ling and Ya Zai.

Facing Sun Tunan's praise, Shen Ling appeared calm, as if it were only natural.

On the ground, the ice block that had formed around Ya Zai glimmered with a red light. Moments later, it melted away, and a weary Ya Zai crawled over to Shen Ling's side.
Through their bond, Shen Ling could feel Ya Zai's reluctance, but losing wasn't necessarily a bad thing.
Moreover, Ya Zai hadn't even reached its final form yet, and with Soul Grazing Touch still unavailable, losing to Sun Tunan was entirely expected.
Sun Tunan approached with a smile, accompanied by Yan Wudao's figure.
"Well done! With your potential, you will undoubtedly become a powerful warrior in the future!"
