As the night deepened, only Luke Dunphy and I remained in the office. He stood by the floor-to-ceiling window, playing with the silver necklace around my neck. "The organization will be here soon." 0

"Do they really hate me that much?" I stepped closer to him. 0

He turned and pulled me into his embrace, chuckling softly. "It's not you they hate; it's your parents for proving that humans and the Wolf Clan can love each other. That shatters their lies." 0

Just then, the building's alarm blared suddenly. 0

"They're here," he said, elegantly removing my necklace. "It's time to bring this act to a close." 0

I was taken aback. "What do you mean?" 0

He gently tugged at the necklace, and a chip slipped out. "Did you think I wanted you to wear this for no reason?" 0

For some reason, his smile sent a chill through me. 0

The door burst open, and Larry Fower rushed in. "Luke Dunphy! You..." 0

"You're just in time," Luke said leisurely. "I was about to explain." 0

He pressed a button on the chip, and suddenly I felt weak all over. 0

"This is the Wolf Gene Controller," he said with a mocking smile. "Your father's proudest invention. Too bad he shouldn't have betrayed the organization." 0

What?! 0

I stared at him in disbelief. "What did you say?" 0

"That snowy night fifteen years ago," he released me, letting me fall to the ground. "Did you really think it was an accident?" 0

No... it couldn't be! 0

"Your father was a scientist for the organization," his voice turned cold. "He uncovered the secrets of the Pure Blood Wolf Gene. But instead of sharing his findings with them, he fell in love with a member of the Wolf Clan." 0

"So..." I trembled all over. "That night was you..." 0

"Yes," he said, elegantly adjusting his cuffs. 0

"My father sent me to retrieve the research results. Unfortunately, your parents are too stubborn." 0

Larry Fower suddenly rushed forward. "Luke Dunphy! You can't..." 0

"Enough," Luke Dunphy sneered. "Aren't you tired of playing this role for so long?" 0

Larry Fower halted, the urgency on his face vanishing in an instant. 0

"You...," I finally understood, "you are in cahoots?" 0

"From the very beginning," Luke Dunphy slowly crouched down and lifted my chin. "Larry Fower's drug experiments were merely to confirm the location of the chip." 0

"And Lynette Scavo...?" 0

"Her?" He chuckled softly. "Her task was to provoke you, to make you dependent on me." 0

So it was all an act. 0

Those feelings, that protection, that tenderness... all of it was a lie. 0

"Do you know?" His voice carried a hint of pity. "Before he died, your father said his greatest mistake was trusting my father." 0

Tears blurred my vision. "Why tell me this...?" 0

"Because," he stood up, "the experiment is over." 0

What? 0

"The organization never aimed to eliminate the Wolf Clan," he said softly, "but rather to discover whether the emotions of the Wolf Clan would affect genetic stability." 0

"For fifteen years... it has been an experiment," his smile remained elegant. "And you have perfectly demonstrated that love indeed affects the combat effectiveness of the Wolf Clan." 0

I finally understood. 0

I was nothing but a test subject. 0

From start to finish, that was all I was. 0

"But," he suddenly said, "there's been a slight deviation in the experiment." 0

I looked up and saw a glimmer of something not belonging to humanity flash in his eyes. 0

"What..." 0

In the next moment, he crouched down and gripped the back of my neck. His sharp nails pressed against my artery as he whispered in my ear, "What do you think would happen if the organization found out that their perfect specimen is actually a mixed-blood... Wouldn't that be interesting?" 0

I looked at him in shock. His eyes glowed with the unique golden hue of the Wolf Clan under the moonlight. 0

"So," he licked his sharp Tiger Fang, "how about we team up to take down this damned organization?" 0

"You..." 0

"I'm just teasing you. The way you get angry is really quite adorable," he said with a mischievous smile. 0

In that moment, I realized that behind the lie lay an even bigger deception. 0

"You jerk..." I lunged at him to bite him. 0

But he easily caught me and chuckled softly, "You want to bite me so soon? There will be plenty of opportunities later..." 0

"Shut up!" 0

Outside, the sound of sirens grew closer. He stood up and crushed the chip in his hand. "Are you ready, my Little Wolf Cub?" 0

I wiped away my tears. "You better... protect me." 0

"Of course," he kissed my forehead. "After all, I've waited fifteen years to find such a lovely Little White Wolf." 0

Under the moonlight, our fingers intertwined. This time, it was our turn to rewrite the ending of this experiment. 0
