At the dining table, a few rascals raised their glasses to toast the village chief, playfully teasing Xiao Qi and Xiao Ba. The two Little Guys were not intimidated; they picked up their small cups filled with juice and clinked glasses with them.
After finishing his drink, Xiao Qi set down his cup and said, "I’m still young now, but when I grow up and have money, I’ll treat you all to drinks."
Xiao Ba patted Valentin on the arm, lifting his little head with a hint of pride. "When I make a lot of money in the future, I’ll take you all to Huaxia for some skewers. They’re delicious!"
"Hahaha!"
"Then we’ll be waiting!"
The rascals burst into laughter at Xiao Qi and Xiao Ba's banter. Xu Li watched Old Son Xiao Qi, who spoke with such maturity for his age, feeling quite pleased. She kissed the chubby face of her child, cherishing him dearly.
Xiao Ba munched on a venison steak, his round face puffing up as he turned to Eva, who was drinking. "Mom, you told me that boys shouldn’t be kissed by girls because they have to take responsibility for them."
"Yes, so what?"
Eva’s cheeks flushed slightly as she wiped her son’s mouth with a napkin. "Why do you say that?"
"Natasha just kissed me! Do I have to take responsibility for her?"
"Which Natasha?"
Both Eva and Anna were taken aback. In the village, there were three girls named Natasha who were about Old Son’s age. Xiao Ba pointed to a Natasha in the distance who was giving his younger brother some venison steak. "Natasha from Ivan’s family! She just kissed me and gave me a lot of fireworks. So annoying!"
"Hahaha!"
Xu Li couldn’t help but laugh. "That little girl thinks you’re cute; she was just playing around! Did you really take it seriously?"
"Hmph!"
Xiao Ba turned away from his Old Father in a huff and jumped off his chair. "I’m full!"
With that, he went off to play with other kids while the adults continued their feasting and drinking.
"Happy new year!"
Peter and Lisa returned late the night before the new year celebration. Xu Li released her big son and gently hugged Lisa before preparing dinner for them. Anna and Eva also came into the living room wearing their pajamas.
"Did you sign the contract with that Zhu Sheng Gou Yang San Lang?"
Watching Peter devour meat and vegetables, Xu Li poured freshly squeezed juice for both of them. Peter nodded. "We came back late because we had to sign a contract with that bastard. We even missed the village reunion dinner."
He grabbed a napkin to wipe his mouth. "But my appearance fee has gone up again; now I can get ten thousand dollars per match! It’s a pity this Oni isn’t very strong; defeating him won’t raise my fee much, but at least my record will look better."
"Take your time; you haven’t reached your career peak yet."
Xu Li smiled and said, "I suggest you spend more time on boxing; your physical abilities are better suited for this sport."
Over there, someone was already approaching Peter, but he had to wait until the contract period was over.
Lisa, having eaten and drunk her fill, pulled out a tissue to wipe her mouth. Then, looking a bit shy, she said to Xu Li, "Dad, I'm pregnant."
"Really?"
Before Xu Li could express his joy, Anna and Eva rushed ahead, pulling Lisa into the study. Peter just stood there grinning at Old Father. "We just found out last week; I planned to come back and give you a surprise."
"That's great!"
He rubbed his son's head, feeling a surge of emotions.
