Two Chi Bears gave birth to a Little Brat three days apart, successfully bringing new life into the world.
"Step aside, let me see the Little Brat," Xu Li said as he handed frozen cow entrails to the Chi Bear. He then began to pull out the cubs one by one from beneath its large belly. The Chi Bear bared its teeth in protest, but Xiong Da and Xiong Er immediately fixed their gaze on it, roaring twice, which forced the Chi Bear to lower its head and eat the entrails.
As if in agreement, there were three little bear cubs, each larger than Xiong Da and Xiong Er had been at that age. This was mainly due to the size of the two Chi Bears, which were not small themselves. Additionally, Xiong Da and Xiong Er frequently brought food into the woods to feed them, resulting in both Chi Bears being plump and robust, larger than some mature males.
"Let's settle down here," Xu Li decided. He placed Misha into the hay and patted the heads of the two feeding Chi Bears. From their low growls earlier, he could tell that they had only recently reached maturity, and he wondered where Xiong Da and Xiong Er had found them.
He had initially been puzzled about why he hadn't encountered two brown bears during this trip. After milking a full bucket of cow's milk from the cattle shed and boiling it in the cafeteria, he added a generous amount of honey and let it cool before mixing in diced apples and potatoes. He divided this mixture into two stainless steel basins and took it to the feed storage for a special meal for the Chi Bears.
"Eat up," he encouraged.
"Delicious!"
The two Chi Bears slurped up the milk before finally munching on the apples and potatoes. Xu Li squatted nearby, watching silently until they were full. Once they had eaten their fill, he collected the basins and drove away, later loading the Little Bear Cubs into cardboard boxes in the truck's cargo area before heading home.
Over the past couple of days, he had rearranged the old Boiler Room by widening the doorframe a bit. The old fireplace had been completely dismantled and replaced with two new ones. He made slight adjustments to the heating pipes and laid down hay and old blankets on the wooden floor.
The two Chi Bears occupied most of the Boiler Room, leaving Xiong Da and Xiong Er to take turns visiting before retreating to the living room for sleep. They were no longer young, reminiscent of Brother Da Hei and Big Black Brother; one day they too would leave their owner behind. They recalled what Xiao Hua Mama had said about leaving behind offspring to continue guarding their master.
In the living room, Dahua lay sprawled on the sofa serving as a cushion for his owner while lazily yawning. Occasionally, he would use his barbed tongue to groom himself. Da Huang and Xiao Huang were nearby on the sofa gnawing on large beef bones to sharpen their teeth.
Only Little White could come and go freely from his owner's bedroom. At that moment, he lay on the big bed in a daze, contemplating whether it was time for him to find a mate.
"Grandpa! Grandpa!"
Little Yekaterina, resembling a chubby Barbie doll, jumped out of the car with her short legs running toward Xu Li with open arms. He bent down to scoop her up and spun her around a few times as she giggled joyfully: "This is so much fun!"
"Daddy! Daddy!"
Xu Weihua and Kamila got out of the car carrying bags of various sizes. They hugged Old Father warmly before Xu Li noticed Kamila's round belly again and smiled broadly: "Come inside quickly; you don’t want to catch cold."
As soon as they entered and changed into slippers, Yekaterina excitedly pounced on Little White: "Little White! Did you miss me?"
Little White looked at the cheerful human child before gently nudging her with his head, nearly knocking her off balance. Xu Li brought over milk tea for Da Huang and Kamila while watching his granddaughter wriggle around on top of Little White.
He smiled affectionately: "Where are they?"
Oh, following her mother’s plan, they decided to stay in Irkutsk for a few more days. Xiao Qi and Xiao Ba would be arriving in two days; they were waiting to pick up their little brother together.
Xu Weihua put down the teacup and handed the examination report to Xu Li. The doctor said this time it was a boy, and all the indicators were normal.
