Xu Jiaguo grinned as he patted his younger brother Xu Jiaping on the shoulder. Xu Jiaping rolled his eyes and shot back, "What’s there to be smug about? You only beat me by one point."
"One point is still a point," Xu Jiaguo replied cheerfully as he dialed their father. "Dad, my college entrance exam scores are out! Old Five only got a measly score."
"Really? That’s great news!" came the enthusiastic response from Old Father.
Xu Li, holding his phone in one hand, pointed at the half-dug pond. The workers nodded and continued their task. He then turned and mounted his Black Horse, leisurely surveying the area. "Which university are you planning to apply to?"
"We're thinking of applying to the Military Arts University," Xu Jiaguo said with a grin.
Xu Li frowned slightly. "The Military Arts University is tough to get into these days. Our family doesn’t have strong connections in the country. Why don’t you and Old Five consider going to university in Moscow? I can talk to Alexander; you can choose any school you want."
"But Uncle said we could get into the Military Arts University. It would be a shame to waste such high scores."
"Is that so?" Xu Li replied thoughtfully. "If you can get in, that’s great. The capital isn’t like Jinling; you need to be low-key there. Are you planning to stay for a month or so?"
"We're not going this year. Uncle wants us to take a couple of days off and then go out for some variety show work. I heard we might be going to the countryside; I’ve never been to a rural area in Huaxia before, so I’m not sure how fun it will be."
"It should be about the same as here," Xu Li said, looking at the ranch with a sense of pride swelling in his chest. "Remember, kids, whether in Huaxia or elsewhere, always be humble and low-key. Avoid places like Europe and Wokou; we have blood feuds with them, and I don’t want you getting involved with anyone of Wokou descent."
"I know, Dad," Xu Jiaguo replied.
As he watched the TV show "Jinling Thirteen Hairpins," he tightened his fists. "I want to follow Uncle's example and find someone wealthy and influential with good looks. When we really go after Wokou one day, I’ll be on the front lines blowing the charge horn!"
"Me too! Me too!" Xu Jiaping chimed in, having just finished a call with their mother. He leaned in playfully and joked, "I want to find someone like Sister-in-law, even if she's older than me; she’ll definitely take care of me, hehehe."
On the other end of the line, Xu Li laughed, "If you end up with an old lady, I’ll break your legs."
"Come on, Dad! How could it be an old lady?" Xu Jiaping chuckled.
"That score is mine!" he added cheekily.
"Enough of this nonsense; I'm hanging up now," Xu Jiaguo said as he put away his phone and continued watching the movie. Later that evening, he followed Xu Lei to a hotel where they had a fairly pleasant dinner with some unfamiliar uncles and aunts before diving into some games.
"Come on now, don’t fall asleep! The car is waiting outside!"
Early in the morning, as dawn broke, Liu Ke walked into Xu Jiaping's bedroom and gave him a couple of light taps on his backside. Once he was awake, Liu Ke moved to the next room and used the same method to rouse Xu Jiaguo before heading to the living room to wait.
The two brothers no longer lived in a villa; instead, they resided in a spacious duplex apartment prepared by their manager. The place was equipped with an indoor swimming pool, gym, and entertainment room. Two young assistants entered, carrying breakfast and some essential items: Sister Liu.
Liu Ke settled onto the sofa, grabbed a sesame ball and a cup of soy milk, and began to eat slowly. Meanwhile, the two assistants went upstairs to help the brothers tidy up their clothes and personal items. They were among the many administrative staff at Pinnacle Entertainment, having fought their way to success among fierce competition.
"Didn't we agree last night that you two would wake up early today?"
