It was this flight that brought Mom and Dad here. Xu Weihua patted his younger brother on the back, and the two brothers quickly picked up the carnations resting on their laps. Angelina and Kamila helped them adjust their clothes. The four of them, wearing baseball caps and black masks, snuggled together in pairs as they made their way to the terminal to wait.
Soon, a few figures appeared before them, along with other travelers. The two groups waved at each other. As Anna and Eva stepped out, Angelina and Kamila rushed into their embrace, calling out, "Mom! Mom! Mom!"
The brothers presented the carnations to their mother, then slightly bowed to complete the cheek-kissing greeting. Xu Li opened her arms wide, pulling her eldest and second sons into a warm hug. She happily patted them on the back. "Hehe, you both did very well. Keep it up in the future!"
"Yes, we will, Dad!" Xu Weixia grinned foolishly before slipping out from under Old Parent's arm. He gently hugged his two younger sisters before playfully patting Lao Si and Old Five on the shoulder. "You guys have really changed in just over half a year."
Xu Jiaguo rolled his eyes and swatted away his brother's hand. "You’ve been gone for half a year too; you’ve changed as well! Just wait, Old Two, in a few years when I team up with Old Five, we’ll take you down immediately. As long as I’m around with Old Five, future championships will definitely be ours!"
"Absolutely!" Xu Jia nodded seriously, pinching Old Two's arm. "You should exercise more; look how skinny you've become!"
"Oh come on, it’s not that bad!" Xu Weixia ruffled the hair of his two younger brothers. "Now that you’re grown up, you don’t even call me brother anymore?"
"Whatever!"
"Hmph!" Lao Si and Old Five proudly tossed their heads back and exchanged cheek kisses with their sisters-in-law. Xu Lao Er smacked his lips as he approached Peter, placing his hands on his younger brother’s shoulders and looking him up and down in disbelief.
Peter was taller than him by half a head and was almost as tall as their dad now. He had also bulked up significantly; Xu Lao Er squeezed Peter’s bicep. "Why do I feel like you’ve changed a lot?"
"I’ve grown up!" Peter replied, hugging Old Two and giving him a pat on the back. "When I step into the ring in the future, don’t forget to cheer for me."
"Of course!"
Anna clapped her hands to get the chatting brothers' attention. The whole family laughed as they exited the airport and boarded a business bus. Looking out at the street scenery, Xu Li couldn’t help but exclaim, "The changes are really significant!"
"Indeed," Anna nodded in agreement from beside her. "I remember that piece of land; it used to have old buildings on it, but now it’s all high-rises."
Lisa and Peter sat in the back, quietly watching the bustling street scene outside. Angelina and Kamila pointed at the skyscrapers, planning to take some time to explore. Zhuo Ya wrapped her arms around the petite Irina, discussing where to go next.
Xu Li collected her thoughts and said to the driver, "Please take us to Nan Xiang Mountain."
The car turned around at the traffic light ahead and then drove towards the Nan Xiang Mountain cemetery. Xu Weihua got up and moved to the row of graves where their father was buried. "Dad's things have all been prepared by Grandpa; they're in the back seat," he mentioned.
Xu Li nodded silently.
The whole family carried offerings and approached a gravestone. Xu Li slowly knelt down, his rough thumb brushing over the black-and-white photograph, tears streaming down his face. "I’ve come to see you, Mom."
After paying respects to his mother, he finally led his family back to the car and headed to a villa area near Purple Gold Mountain. The bus traveled along a narrow road for a while before arriving at a luxurious mansion, where Xu Haigui and Kong Yan Hong were already waiting at the entrance.
