Xu Weihua gently rubbed her little round face and glanced at the time. "I'll go prepare dinner. Is there anything you can't eat?"
"No, I can help you," Kamila said as she led her boyfriend into the kitchen. The fridge was not well-stocked; the lower freezer contained only a few packages of meat, and one shelf looked rather empty. He neatly arranged the meat he brought into the drawer, leaving just a small portion that needed cooking, then closed the fridge and began chatting and laughing with Kamila.
"Mom, look!" The teenage girl pointed excitedly at a sleek sports car parked nearby, her eyes sparkling with wonder. "This is the new model from last year!"
Vika tightened her daughter's shoulders and stepped aside. "Be careful not to scratch someone else's car. Your sister brought her boyfriend today; you need to be polite, okay?"
"Yes, I will, Mom."
As the mother and daughter reached the top of the stairs and approached their front door, they were greeted by a delightful aroma. Upon opening the door, the rich scent of meat wafted in, momentarily stunning Vika and the young girl. Kamila had just set down a freshly cooked plate of stir-fried shrimp and rushed forward to embrace Vika tightly.
"Mom! Sister!" The little girl joyfully wrapped her arms around Kamila's waist.
Kamila hugged her sister back. "Diana, have you been attending your classes properly?"
"Uh-huh! What about your boyfriend?"
Diana peeked around curiously while Vika slipped on her slippers and closed the door behind them. She walked straight into the kitchen, where Xu Weihua was nervously making eye contact with Vika while flipping a steak in the pan. He broke into a goofy smile. "Hello, Auntie! I'm Oleg."
With his tall and handsome appearance, clear eyes, and somewhat silly grin, he made an excellent first impression—especially as he was busy at the stove in an apron. A good-looking guy who could cook was quite rare around here!
"Wow! It's Oleg! Mom, it's Oleg!" Diana exclaimed excitedly as she shook Vika's arm.
Vika was a bit surprised. "Do you know each other?"
Xu Weihua shook his head in confusion. "It's our first meeting."
Diana took a few steps closer to Xu Weihua, tilting her head to look up at him. "Oleg, are you my sister's boyfriend?"
"Yes," he replied cheerfully.
Xu Weihua squatted down and extended his right hand. "Nice to meet you, Little Sister."
"My name is Diana." The little girl grinned widely as she shook Xu Weihua's hand seriously.
Vika glanced at the frying pan and cleared her throat. "Ahem... my steak!"
Only then did Xu Weihua remember the steak in the pan; he quickly flipped it over and adjusted it on the heat. Kamila pulled Vika into the living room, looking somewhat shy as she asked her mother, "Mom, what do you think?"
She glanced at the busy Xu Weihua in the kitchen, surrounded by her chattering little daughter. She softly asked, "Is Oleg very famous?"
Yes, the song "Lullaby," which my sister loves the most, is sung by him.
Vika responded with an "Oh": "So are you two together? You know what I mean by together."
Yes, it was just last night.
The little girl shyly covered her face with her hands, too embarrassed to look at her mother. Vika's lips twitched: "How long have you known each other?"
