Lin Xia rushed over immediately.
She helped Xiao Zhang up.
"Xiao Zhang has been working overtime for many days in a row. Call an ambulance!" she shouted anxiously.
Wang Lan, however, coldly replied, "There's no need to make a fuss."
"She's affecting work efficiency."
"Everyone else should continue the meeting; today's overtime tasks are not yet completed."
Lin Xia looked at Wang Lan in disbelief, her anger boiling over.
"Vice President Wang, Xiao Zhang needs medical attention right now!"
"How can you—"
"Enough!" Wang Lan interrupted sharply.
"Supervisor Lin, do you think you're so important?"
"I'll tell you this: I am in charge here!"
The atmosphere in the conference room instantly dropped to freezing point.
Lin Xia gritted her teeth, struggling to contain her fury. She knew that confronting Wang Lan head-on would only make matters worse.
"I'll take Xiao Zhang to the hospital," Lin Xia said coldly.
Then she helped Xiao Zhang up and walked out of the conference room without looking back.
A sharp voice pierced through the air behind her.
"Remember, today's work must be completed! Otherwise, don't even think about leaving!"
In the corridor, Lin Xia supported the weak Xiao Zhang. Anger and frustration surged within her.
She could feel the complex gazes of her colleagues around her.
There was admiration.
There was concern.
But more than anything, there was helplessness and fear.
"Supervisor Lin... I'm sorry... for causing you trouble..." Xiao Zhang said weakly.
Lin Xia shook her head, softly reassuring him.
"Don't worry, your health is the most important thing."
After seeing Xiao Zhang off, Lin Xia returned to the office.
The air was thick with a stifling atmosphere.
Colleagues kept their heads down, mechanically tapping away at their keyboards, afraid of drawing Wang Lan's attention.
Lin Xia sat back in her seat and opened her computer, but she couldn't focus at all.
Scenes from earlier kept replaying in her mind.
"This can't go on..."
Lin Xia clenched her fists tightly.
"I have to do something..."
She opened an encrypted folder.
Her fingers flew across the keyboard.
On the screen, lines of code scrolled rapidly.
Lin Xia's gaze grew resolute.
Night fell.
The lights in the office remained bright.
Exhausted employees struggled to keep their spirits up.
They continued to work. Lin Xia looked around at the weary faces.
The fire of anger in her heart burned brighter.
"Everyone, today's work ends here."
Lin Xia suddenly stood up.
She spoke loudly.
Everyone looked at her in surprise.
Someone whispered worriedly, "Supervisor Lin, but Vice President Wang said..."
"I will take responsibility."
Lin Xia said firmly.
"Everyone should go home and rest. You need to be well-rested to work better."
Her colleagues hesitated for a moment.
Then she began to pack her things.
They looked at Lin Xia with gratitude.
Admiration sparkled in their eyes.
After everyone had left, Lin Xia sat alone in the empty office.
She opened her computer.
She started to execute her plan.
"Wang Lan, do you think you can do whatever you want?"
Lin Xia murmured to herself.
"I will make you understand what it means to have the people's support."
Her fingers danced across the keyboard.
Lines of code flowed effortlessly as she typed.
Lin Xia's gaze grew more resolute.
She knew that this battle had only just begun.
Suddenly, the office door was pushed open.
Lin Xia quickly switched screens.
Looking up, she found it was Wang Lan.
"Supervisor Lin, you really are diligent," Wang Lan said with a cold smile. "But I advise you to mind your own business."
"Do you think you're protecting the employees?"
"I'll tell you, you're harming them!"
