Shi Tian did not engage with him, and Old Kong felt helpless. He had trained Shi Tian himself, but he never expected that he would become increasingly difficult to fool.
Dealing with Xia Shou was not going to work, so it was time to change strategies.
“Xiao Tian, the hull of this boat is entirely made of fiberglass. Its hardness is a bit lacking! What if we bump into someone else's boat and it gets smashed?”
At a speed of sixty knots, even military speedboats couldn't catch up; as long as they didn't fire their guns, no one could catch it. But just knowing how to escape wasn't enough; they needed some capability for counterattack, or else they would truly become like rabbits.
“Want something sturdy? Sure! As long as the money is right, we can build an alloy ship! But for fishing, it’s not worth it; the cost would be too high!” After circling around the sea for a bit, they found a small island to stop and check the fish situation.
“This boat is too small. I’m used to larger vessels, and this little one feels dangerous no matter how fast it goes. I don’t plan on using it again,” Shi Tian thought.
“An alloy? What kind of alloy?” Old Kong asked leisurely as he cast his line. The water here was shallow, about forty meters deep; there should be fish around.
“A high-density alloy, something like Manganese Chromium Tungsten titanium. It’s quite sturdy but also quite heavy. Didn’t you try out that membership card I gave you the other day? It’s made from that kind of material.”
Shi Tian had indeed managed to create the membership cards, making only twenty unnumbered ones to distribute among those close to him. To highlight their exclusivity, he had specially chosen the alloy. However, after seeing the final product, Shi Tian regretted it. Despite its small size, its high density made it inconvenient to carry in his pocket; its weight was comparable to pure gold.
Shi Tian didn’t plan on distributing many physical membership cards—twenty for those around him would be enough. As for others, wasn’t there a Diao Jiao membership? He could just attach permissions to those accounts later.
Upon hearing this, Old Liu quickly took out his membership card and examined it closely. No wonder it felt so solid; it was made of high-density alloy! However, high density didn’t necessarily mean high hardness—gold has high density too! You could even leave a mark with your teeth! Old Liu decided to find something to test it with.
He rummaged through the Fishing Box and pulled out a fish hook. Using the hook tip, he scratched the edge of the membership card but left no mark at all; clearly, the hardness of this card was significantly higher than that of the fish hook.
Fish hooks also come in various hardness levels; common ones are used for freshwater fishing and aren’t very hard—usually just thick hooks meant for catching big fish. They had already sent someone to test their Xingpai Fish Hooks; they were made from high carbon steel with some rare metals mixed in, making them superior in both hardness and resilience compared to standard hooks on the market.
The fact that such a hard hook couldn’t leave a mark on the membership card indicated that its material was indeed impressive.
He glanced at Old Kong and Old Wen and decided they should test this material's properties and hardness when they got back. If it proved useful, they could attempt some smelting experiments with it.
However, trying to reverse-engineer based solely on this material would still be quite challenging. They would wait for the test results before deciding what to do next; if all else failed, they could order a few ships from Shi Ye and take them apart for research later.
“Rod up!” A big bend in the rod—had he hooked something?
Reeling in the line proved difficult; there was no movement below either—the first cast had snagged on the bottom! How unlucky!
While fishing here, snagging on underwater rocks wasn’t too bad, but if he got caught in a fishnet trap, he would just have to accept his misfortune since there would be no way to get free.
After struggling for several minutes, Shi Tian gave up. He drew his dagger from his waist and swiftly cut the line; after all, this fishing set wouldn’t last much longer anyway—he wouldn’t miss those few dozen meters of line.
Looking at Shi Tian’s dagger at his waist—he hadn’t carried that before; was it new? Moreover, the color of that dagger looked exactly like that of the membership card—was it made from the same material?
