After venting a bit about Da Gui Wang, the HR manager showed no intention of stamping his approval. Whether or not he got the stamp didn’t matter to Da Gui Wang. He tossed down two packs of cigarettes and left without a second thought. Dealing with work was easy; he still had a girlfriend at home! If he didn’t sort things out with her, going to Suzhou would be quite troublesome!
Taking advantage of the lunch break, he grabbed a cab with his girlfriend and headed to Anhe Town for a feast at Sun Lang’s restaurant.
"Xiao Rui, what do you think of this place?" After finishing their meal and wiping his mouth, Da Gui Wang stood up to settle the bill and turned to his girlfriend.
"It’s great! The food is delicious, and the prices are reasonable. We should come here more often!" Behind Da Gui Wang, Xiao Rui patted her little belly, blaming the restaurant’s tasty dishes for making her overeat.
"I could open a place like this for you and make you the boss lady. What do you think?"
"Opening a restaurant is easy, but can you cook?" Hearing Da Gui Wang’s suggestion, Xiao Rui shook her head decisively.
"I can’t cook, but my friend can! This restaurant belongs to my friend Fang Zi. I’ll talk to him about getting a spot; we could open a place like this together. It’s better than working our whole lives, right?"
Strolling past the Fishing Tackle Shop, Da Gui Wang grabbed Shi Tian’s car keys and led his girlfriend to the vehicle while continuing to persuade Xiao Rui.
"Why would he give you a spot when he has Fang Zi?!" Xiao Rui thought Da Gui Wang was oversimplifying the situation regarding opening a restaurant.
"Don’t worry about that; we’re close friends. I’ll discuss it with him later. But Fang Zi won’t just give it away for free; my friend will need some share too—just a small percentage of the profits!"
He hadn’t yet brought this up with Shi Tian; once they returned to Suzhou, he’d test the waters with Shi Tian first.
After drifting at sea for several days, Old Kong finally got what he wanted. The reason they went out to sea first was due to the lack of mobile signal. When Shi Chui called Shi Tian earlier, Shi Tian mentioned this, prompting Old Kong to come and check it out himself.
It wasn’t surprising that they could make calls or access the internet, but when Shi Chui made that call, not only was the call quality good, but there was also no delay—which intrigued them greatly.
No delay meant that the network wasn’t relying on satellite signals. Out at sea, if it didn’t go through satellites yet still had such high bandwidth, that was definitely some cutting-edge technology.
After making several calls and fishing all day at the request of three old men, the Mini Light Boat returned to Sanya for rest and resupply.
"Great-Grandson, your boat got stolen? I’ll have Jun Ge compensate you for the Air Force when we get back!"
Returning to Yi Laotou’s courtyard after their meal and seeing off Sun Lang and Shi Chui, Yi Laotou stayed behind in the kitchen washing dishes while the three old men quietly slipped away to Air Force Courtyard to call Shi Tian.
"The Mini Light Boat was stolen? Are you kidding? Who in this country would dare steal from Old Kong? That’s over ten meters long—a yacht with nowhere to hide! It can even be seen from satellites!"
"The boat was stolen? No problem! The Mini Light Boat has remote control and positioning capabilities. I’ll check it out later; once I lock down the main unit remotely, I’ll call the Coast Guard to catch them!" Old Kong said, immediately understanding what these three old men were planning.
Could I exchange the Air Force for my Mini Light Boat? Would the Air Force agree? Even if they did, I wouldn't make the switch!
I can't afford to maintain the Air Force. A regular Yacht Dock charges about ten dollars per foot per day. For a boat over a hundred feet long, that would mean over two thousand dollars just for docking fees each day. Plus, the fuel costs for the Air Force are outrageous; it takes over a hundred thousand for a single trip, and it moves so slowly.
