After paying respects to Mazu, a sumptuous feast followed. Shi Chui was still accompanying a few elderly gentlemen for tea, while Shi Tian quietly dragged Kang Ziyu to count the red envelopes.
The red envelopes from the old men were quite substantial, indicating deep feelings; at the very least, they covered the fuel costs for Zhoushan. As soon as Shi Tian and Kang Ziyu left, Shi Chui immediately pulled out his phone.
Yun Wan'er had been in the capital for quite some time; it was about time she moved. Consort Ai had heard that the Crown Prince and Crown Princess were establishing their residence by Taihu outside Gusu City, planting beans and raising ducks, and they wished to invite Consort Ai for a warm gathering. She wondered what Consort Ai thought about this.
Would Yun Wan'er and Hu Shuyi be joining? They had been spending every day together lately, so it was likely! Hu Shuyi would definitely need to be entertained by Shi Tian. Once Shi Tian and Kang Ziyu arrived in Suzhou, they could enjoy themselves on the Mini Light Boat without a care.
They didn’t want to bring Shi Tian along to Zhoushan; there would be no fun in that. Following Shi Tian meant no leisure time, just rushing along. During dinner earlier, Shi Tian hinted that they would take more than a day to reach Zhoushan, which meant they would just be cooped up in the cabin without any excitement. What fun was there in that?
After sending a message, it wasn’t long before Yun Wan'er called back. "Lao Shi, what do you mean? What scheme are you up to now?"
The day Shi Tian and Kang Ziyu secured that little courtyard, she already knew; there was no way Shi Chui just found out now. Now that Shi Chui suddenly wanted her in Suzhou, something was definitely amiss.
"What do you mean? I’m being literal!"
As soon as she finished speaking, Shi Chui quickly added before Yun Wan'er could get angry: "Old Shi suddenly offered so much support; we can’t compete financially. We should at least show some appreciation!"
"Take Sister Hu with you to check it out. While their little courtyard is still unkempt, see what they need and help them get it so they won’t find fault with us!"
Having reminded Yun Wan'er of this, Shi Chui silently praised his own cleverness; this excuse was flawless!
Just as they were finishing up with the red envelopes, Kang Ziyu's phone rang. Seeing Yun Wan'er's number, she quickly answered.
"Xiao Yu, I’m planning to go to Suzhou with Sister Yi and Ling Er to play and check out your little courtyard. We want to give you a warm gathering—when are you free?"
"Anytime works for us! When are you coming over? We’re all available!" As soon as Kang Ziyu heard that Yun Wan'er wanted to bring Hu Shuyi to Suzhou, she felt instantly delighted.
She didn’t want to be on the Mini Light Boat heading to Zhoushan; everyone on board except her were elders, making it quite inconvenient for her. Sharing a room with Shi Tian in front of several elders would be too embarrassing.
Yun Wan'er’s call came at just the right moment; no matter when they went to Suzhou, she now had an excuse to prepare for their arrival tomorrow!
After hanging up the phone, Kang Ziyu looked at Shi Tian with a smirk. "Wan Er Jie and Ying Er Jie are taking my mom to visit our little courtyard in Suzhou tomorrow. They’re bringing a hot pot for us."
"I won’t be able to go with you all tomorrow; I have to rush to Suzhou to handle the reception!"
Yun Wan'er had just overheard Shi Tian on the phone. "Actually, Mother-in-law isn’t coming to Suzhou tomorrow; she’s coming the day after. But it doesn’t really make much difference."
Kang Ziyu frowned, "What are we going to prepare for Suzhou? That little courtyard is a big project. Even if we hire someone to tidy it up, one day isn’t enough!"
"I’ll go with you tomorrow. No! Let’s leave now! Let’s take the money and run, and not give the boat any fuel. We can use this money to buy some furniture; otherwise, when Mother-in-law arrives, there won’t be anywhere for her to sit!"
She stood up, gathered her things, and called Ke Ge to have him drive her to the airport.
