"What happened?"
Black, too black. Is this really even a color?
The sudden wave of fear made Miao Chengmin's memories start to race. He was like a child who couldn't read, frantically and aimlessly flipping through the pages of a book. He was searching, wanting to know what he had experienced, why all the colors he remembered had vanished, and where everything he had felt and touched had gone.
Miao Chengmin's consciousness gradually awakened. The first thing his body did after regaining connection was to reach up and rub his eyes. However, as his fingertips approached his eyes, he felt as if they might fall in; it seemed like a finger could poke right into the eye socket—empty!
This thought made him shudder involuntarily, and he quickly withdrew his hand. As he moved more, Miao Chengmin began to sense the spatial confines of the darkness around him. He now believed he must be in some sort of transport pod, possibly still traveling through space along a designated route. He tried to move his feet and bent his legs, but it felt as though his knees were hitting something.
Such a small space? Miao Chengmin felt confused. Suddenly, he became completely still again, sinking back into the darkness and silence, hoping to hear some sound. But the sounds here seemed to be waiting specifically for his command; as long as Miao Chengmin remained motionless, they would not occur at all.
The surrounding space is a closed-off area, and this is the only judgment that Miao Chengmin can be sure of right now. He turned to his side, but before he could finish turning, his face was already pressed against it.
No way.
Miao Chengmin reached out to touch this barrier.
However, this was not a barrier at all. The echo of his fingers tapping on it and his experiences living on Earth told him that this was wood. Such a small space only allowed for a lying down position... It was clearly a coffin.
Miao Chengmin suddenly woke up; he instinctively tried to sit up, causing his forehead to bump against the top of the coffin with a thud.
"This..." Miao Chengmin felt a bit dazed. He tried to push against the coffin wall, but it wouldn't budge. At a loss, he unconsciously touched his forehead, and with a crisp sound, it echoed sharply.
Why does it sound so much like bone?
As more and more truths emerged, Miao Chengmin realized that he had lost all sensations—pain, touch, smell—everything had vanished. Strangely enough, his sight and hearing remained intact.
"You will become like a zombie."
He rummaged through his memories, feeling as if he had found a gift box hiding a jumping clown. The words of the Time-Space King suddenly sprang to mind, staring at him in Miao Chengmin's consciousness, repeating this pre-set phrase of intimidation. Miao Chengmin immediately felt a wave of fear sweep over him.
But this worry now seemed premature. In any case, the urgent task was to escape from here first.
If he couldn't get out, it was likely that the mission assigned by the Time-Space King hadn't even begun, and he wouldn't have a chance to see his homeworld. With a heavy layer of soil pressing down from above, Miao Chengmin tried to push, but there was no possibility of movement. The instinctive fear of the darkness finally erupted in Miao Chengmin's heart; he felt despair and slammed his fist against the coffin wall. His fist lingered in the air, not yet having fallen.
But at that moment, he noticed cracks on his arm, with dark glowing patterns faintly visible in the gaps. They were flowing, vibrant against the deathly blackness; even though they were also black, Miao Chengmin could sense their presence.
As the sound of wood breaking echoed, he felt his fist sink in, and a stream of sandy soil leaked into the coffin. He withdrew his fist and discovered that he had actually broken through the coffin wall.
"Is my strength really this great?" Miao Chengmin looked at his palm in surprise and discovered that there was a pattern of the Divine Realm engraved in his hand. Although he had only been in the Divine Realm for four days, it seemed that he had seen this pattern before.
Divine Realm
"Miao Chengmin has awakened," the guard said, turning to Space-Time King Sogfear as he saw the last life symbol light up.
"Finally," the Time-Space King replied with a smile upon hearing the news. "Let's activate it."
The First Star Domain Earth China City S
Miao Chengmin was still examining this pattern, and he still could not understand why he had been reincarnated into a coffin.
"Like a zombie..."
At some point, he could feel his body becoming light and airy. Immediately after, his entire body was lifted towards the top of the coffin. Miao Chengmin felt a bit panicked, realizing he was about to collide with the coffin lid, and quickly shut his eyes.
However, nothing happened. When Miao Chengmin opened his eyes, he found himself moving through the soil, as if he were floating in water.
This was the Body Traversal Technique of the Divine Realm. The object being affected by the spell would enter a four-dimensional state for a period of time, allowing it to move through three-dimensional space while ignoring any obstacles at a controllable speed in time and space. This dimensional control technique was quite common in the Divine Realm, as simple as drawing a line on paper.
Miao Chengmin remembered this technology because his neighbor, Sister Ghost Snake from the Divine Realm, had mentioned it during a conversation with him.
Slowly, Miao Chengmin watched as the soil around him continued to descend. When he reached above the ground, a gentle breeze blew in, bringing with it a long-lost feeling that swept into his mind. Finally, there was light; the moon gently looked down upon him, and the moonlight returned to his eyes. In his frozen retina, Miao Chengmin felt a crack opening up, and a trickle of water surged forth, dripping away his sorrow.
Was it nostalgia? Or was it anxiety about the future? He was unsure.
But Miao Chengmin knew very well that he had no time to care about these feelings. Once the control spell wore off, he stood up and gazed at this familiar yet somewhat unfamiliar world.
It had been four years; how much had the world Miao Chengmin once knew changed?
It was early morning on Earth, silent and still, with only the sound of unknown insects buzzing rhythmically in the unidentifiable grass. Miao Chengmin looked around; this appeared to be a cemetery, surrounded by tombstones. Suddenly, he felt something touch his heel and turned around to see whose body he had been reincarnated into. However, it was too dark to make out anything clearly.
Miao Chengmin successfully "landed," but he always felt like he had forgotten something. Looking at the shadows standing on the ground around him, they resembled the outlines of people. He thought of his companions, but at the same time, it made it hard for him to adjust, as he hadn't seen anyone for a long time in the Divine Realm.
"What happened to them?" Miao Chengmin wondered anxiously, speculating whether they were in the same situation as him and if they had managed to come out successfully.
Suddenly, the rustling sound from the bushes in the distance pulled his thoughts back.
"Could it be? Is there really someone here?" Miao Chengmin was startled and quickly hid behind a tombstone. He didn't want to scare the humans; he feared that even he would be startled by his current appearance.
The sound came again, surprisingly light and cheerful, the crunch of dried leaves underfoot differing greatly from human footsteps. Miao Chengmin felt a bit surprised, and his subconscious fear of the night began to make him fantasize uncontrollably.
It was getting closer. Miao Chengmin tightly gripped the grass on the ground with both hands, almost burying his face into the earth, afraid of being discovered.
The sound, fluctuating between loud and soft, grew closer. Had it discovered me? Could it be something...
The more Miao Chengmin thought about it, the more terrified he became. Was there something as terrifying on this planet as the demonic realm in Layer -2? This was a graveyard at midnight; even the strongest person would feel a bit of fear and tension inside. Although Miao Chengmin didn't know what kind of state he was in right now, at least his heart still held onto humanity, feeling the same likes and fears as any human.
About forty to fifty centimeters behind Miao Chengmin, the footsteps suddenly stopped, as if they dissolved into the pitch-black night, hiding within the glue-like darkness. Unable to help himself, Miao Chengmin glanced to the right, where the night transformed into tentacles moving like seaweed, searching for something.
Suddenly, Miao Chengmin felt as if something was watching him. He slowly turned his gaze to the left, but his eyes had already spotted it.
A green dot appeared in front of Miao Chengmin, followed by another green dot.
These were clearly a pair of eyes.
"Ah! Ah—" Miao Chengmin completely broke down. He screamed and scrambled to his feet, trying to run, but that thing unexpectedly jumped out from behind the tombstone, relentless in its pursuit.
"Get away!" Miao Chengmin kicked his legs wildly like a headless chicken, as if that would scare the monster away.
But the creature merely stepped back a few paces to avoid Miao Chengmin's feet before lunging at him again...
"Ah—" Miao Chengmin was knocked to the ground, but in a moment of chaos, he unexpectedly grabbed hold of the creature, something he hadn't anticipated. He wanted to throw it off, but suddenly, he felt a tingling sensation and a slight warmth on his face. Hadn't he lost all feeling?
"What is this?"
Miao Chengmin suddenly felt a bit confused, as he had not experienced the fierce attack he had imagined. Coming back to his senses, he tentatively picked up the creature and focused his gaze. To his surprise, it was a wolfdog, severely mutilated, with only a layer of skin left; the bones were clearly visible. In its dim green eyes, there seemed to be a sense of familiarity, and it softly whined, likely trying to convey that it meant no harm to Miao Chengmin.
However, after examining it for a long time, Miao Chengmin still felt uneasy. He quickly shook his hand and threw the zombie wolfdog onto the ground. To his surprise, the creature rolled over and got back up, placing its paws on Miao Chengmin's thigh. Its tailbone, with only a layer of skin remaining, wagged incessantly as it looked up at Miao Chengmin, as if trying to communicate something.
"You can't be..." A thunderbolt struck Miao Chengmin's heart—he remembered that when he accepted the dimensional reincarnation, he seemed to have forgotten where the little guy was.
But why didn't the Time-Space King and his guards see it either? If it was within the control range of the instrument at that time...
"How did you get in here, little guy? Why would you choose to come with me to this ghostly place instead of enjoying yourself in the Divine Realm?"
The little guy, transformed into a Zombie Wolf, recognized Miao Chengmin and excitedly spun around on the ground before jumping onto Miao Chengmin. Miao Chengmin's cracked lips split into a smile as he held the little guy that had jumped up, gently kneading its head with his fingers.
"Zombie Wolf? Zombie Wolf! Where are you..."
In the distance, hoarse roars from other zombies echoed through the woods.
"Oh my!" Miao Chengmin exclaimed in shock, but he quickly calmed down: this was no monster; we have all turned into this.
The Zombie Wolf jumped back to the ground and started running around Miao Chengmin, barking and occasionally looking back at him, as if it were the happiest dog in the universe.
Nearby, the leaves parted, and a zombie emerged from the bushes, shouting, "Hey, he's over here! We're all here!"
Miao Chengmin was stunned for a moment, spinning in place. Around him, more and more zombies were emerging from the graveyard and the bushes, surrounding him.
"Welcome back to the Zombie Squad!"
Following the voice, Miao Chengmin saw a tall zombie stepping out from the crowd of zombies. "We've been waiting for you for a long time, Miao Chengmin. I am Tu Jiaomin, and I was also Chinese in my previous life. I'm glad to be back on Earth with you to carry out our mission."
"Am I the last one?" Miao Chengmin said, awkwardly scratching his head. "Okay... uh, at least we're all here, right?"
"We have to wait for you," Tu Jiaomin, who must have been a serious person in life, replied. "Because you are our guide here. Don't forget what you have with you."
Miao Chengmin suddenly realized and rummaged through the tattered pockets of his clothes. "I don't have it, did I lose it?"
"It's not a pocket; it's in the palm of your hand."
"Hand..." Miao Chengmin opened both palms, only to find that both had patterns in their centers. The one on his left hand was gradually fading, while the one on his right was still faintly glowing.
As he pondered this, an ethereal voice gradually became clearer in his ear:
"You just need to bring your two hands together and then raise your left hand to extract the Chaos Crystals, Miao Chengmin."
"Who?" Miao Chengmin looked around at his brothers and sisters, but none of the zombies understood his gaze.
"It's me, Time-Space King."
In the Transmigration Hall, Sogfiel observed the souls that had transformed into zombies through the first-person perspective of Tu Jiaomin.
"I am Space-Time King Sogfiel," he announced. "My elites, there are a few things I need to tell you."
Soon, Sogfiel's voice was no longer just heard by Miao Chengmin; it emanated from Tu Jiaomin's body, broadcasting Sogfiel's words like a speaker.
"First, every two weeks from now on, the Divine Realm will transport souls to your homeworld, expanding the Divine Realm's military strength in Vamulel. You are the Vanguard, and with the successful completion of the first dimensional reincarnation transmission, I extend my sincerest respect on behalf of the entire realm to you who are about to dedicate yourselves to peace in the cosmos."
"Second, in the future, I will not be watching over you like this. Everything must be accomplished by you on your own. I hereby appoint Miao Chengmin as the Commander-in-Chief of the Vanguard; he understands this operational location and the era of Vamulel better than any of you."
"Finally, these are my heartfelt words and my warning. You hold the fate of the universe in your hands; the first batch of souls has gathered at the future battlefield, and your mission begins now. Justice and righteousness are your strongest weapons; go forth and act, warriors."
"This planet needs you, and the universe needs you even more. I have some bad news that no one wants to hear, but I must tell you. The latest information from the First Star Domain has reached me; Ban Sa has defeated the guardian of the Life Crystals, the Titan Clan. The Life Crystals have fallen into enemy hands, which means he now holds half of the fate of his entire universe. The other half—the Chaos Crystals—according to Ban Sa's current understanding, is still stored on the negative second Yulou layer. Therefore, he will leave Vamulel and temporarily abandon his occupation of Vamulel. Taking advantage of this information gap, we have brought the Chaos Crystals to Vamulel along with your dimensional reincarnation. So, the plan has changed; your task now is to protect the Chaos Crystals."
"The Transmigration Hall requires a large amount of energy to operate again and bring everyone back. Before that, please make sure to protect the Chaos Crystals at all costs. Do not let Ban Sa obtain both at the same time; this will lead to an unprecedented and protracted psychological war and interdimensional conflict."
All the zombies felt a heavy weight settle upon them. They had come here with the Chaos Crystals to protect the Life Crystals, but now the Life Crystals had already fallen into enemy hands, and Ban Sa was precisely after both items. What does this mean? If Ban Sa decides not to leave, they are essentially delivering a package to him. Instead of this, it would be better to stay in the Divine Realm and hide the Chaos Crystals.
However, now that things have come to this point, what can be done? Plans will always fall short of changes, and now the only thing they can do is protect the Chaos Crystals.
"King, we can take the Life Crystals back from him!" Tu Jiaomin shouted to the heavens.
Sogfiel shook his head and sighed, "To be honest, I don't expect you to succeed. You are either newcomers to the Divine Realm who don't understand his power, or survivors of that massacre who have witnessed his terror. You cannot possibly be his match..."
"Unless..."
"Unless what?"
"Unless you have someone to absorb the high-dimensional energy properties within Chaos Crystals and continuously accept and expand your new members - the latter will be the responsibility of my council. But that's not enough. You need to find the strongest defense line on this planet, form an alliance with it, and together defeat Ban Sa."
