Seeing that Wang Ergou had dealt with his clothes, there was probably no time for him to come and snatch his rod. The Sailfish began to slowly retreat, inching back towards the shore.
Before they could reach the shore, the second wave of power arrived as expected. After holding on for more than ten seconds, he decisively tossed the rod aside and pulled Shou Sheng onto the shore!
As he emerged from the water, Xiao Feng shivered; it was still warmer in the water. He quickly jumped back in, deciding to wait for the fish to come up before anything else!
With a big fish thrashing around, it seemed unlikely that the others would catch anything in the short term. Those with nets and those holding lights gathered around, all waiting to help.
"Old Flag, come up! The rope is still long!" Mahi Mahi shouted from the shore as he saw the Sailfish dive back into the water.
"No way! It's too cold up there. Let’s tire out the fish first! Just get the net ready!"
After the second wave of power passed, he reeled in the rod. As long as he had the rod in hand, he wouldn’t feel cold anymore and began retreating towards the shore.
Back at the car, he changed into a quick-dry outfit and charged back towards the shore. This fish had potential to be a record breaker; he needed to keep a close watch on it without any distractions.
"Qi Ge, just hold on tight! This rod is from Xing Brand; it's sturdy!" Once they reached the shore, he reminded Sailfish, who instinctively took two steps back into the water.
"Take it slow; we’ve already had two waves of power. It won’t be long before we tire it out!" Standing in water that barely reached his knees, Sailfish casually remarked, though he didn’t increase his grip much.
With a third wave of power, this time there was no need to toss the rod again. It was a saltwater fish; throwing the rod three times would be too embarrassing!
As they neared the shore, all lights that could be turned off were extinguished. Fish were sensitive to light; even attracting fish lights should be avoided if possible.
Bright lights could attract small fish but would scare away larger ones. If a big fish got startled by a sudden bright light and then made a strong run, it could break the line and lead to disaster!
Everyone gathered quietly by the shore, not daring to make a sound until they saw the fish flip over. Only then did Sailfish dare to come ashore while Wang Ergou approached with the net.
He lowered the net into the water aiming for the fish's head. As Sailfish loosened his line, Wang Ergou swiftly scooped up the fish into the net—this was secure!
Dragging the fish towards shore, Sailfish quickly lifted his rod to help out while holding onto one side of the net to ensure it stayed away from danger.
"It's a carp! Must weigh around forty pounds!" Once they turned on their lights, Shui Bi Zhang rushed over; this fish was crucial for their record-breaking attempt—if it was too small, they wouldn’t be able to showcase it!
"Got it! No need to look at it," Wang Ergou said as he took out his phone outside of the crowd. He clicked a button and a big carp leaped out of the water, snapping up Calmly's flag as it fell into the water. His flag was raised at Wuyi Reservoir, carried by an animated carp parading through Wuyi Reservoir.
Seeing Wang Ergou's flag rise at Wuyi Reservoir, Shui Bi Zhang raised his hand in approval and immediately sent over a reward of eight dollars!
Thirty-nine pounds and six ounces—not bad! After putting away his phone, they squeezed back into the crowd only to find Sailfish standing there in just his shorts while holding up the fish for photos.
"Qi Ge, where are your pants? We’re Wen Ren; you should put your pants on before taking pictures!" Wang Ergou reminded him. Immediately, Sailfish raised the fish in front of him as a shield and realized he was half-naked!
He turned around once and shrugged it off; after all, he still had his shorts on!
"Did you fall into the reservoir earlier? No big deal—just one pair of pants!" He casually remarked before turning to Mahi Mahi's pants with intent. Mahi Mahi quickly grabbed his pants and made a hasty retreat.
"What kind of joke is this? Borrowing pants? I can't believe you thought of that!"
"I have a pair of sun-protective pants in my car, just bought and never worn. You can make do with those for now!" Seeing Sailfish in such a predicament, Shui Bi Zhang, wanting to repay the favor for helping him set up the flags, quickly ran to his car and brought out a set of sun-protective clothing he had won a couple of days ago at the Rock Fishing Tournament. He decided to lend it to Sailfish as a temporary solution.
"Where's your phone? Once you put on the pants, we have to take some pictures." After snapping a few photos, Shui Bi Zhang was about to send them to Sailfish and add him as a friend when he realized that Sailfish had nothing in his hands.
"It must have fallen into the hole with the pants!" He raised his hand and reached into the pocket of the borrowed pants, shaking his head with a sigh. "This fish is costing me a bit too much!"
"Should we try to fish it out?" Shui Bi Zhang scratched his nose, thinking maybe it could still be salvaged.
"No! Don't disturb the hole; quickly replenish it and keep fishing!" Before Shui Bi Zhang could finish speaking, Sailfish hurriedly interrupted.
"How important are the pants? They won't run away in the water! The priority is to catch fish; we can retrieve them later when we reel in!"
With the fish secured in the net, they continued happily with their fishing.
"Dog Brother, I’ll handle it from here. This Wo Liao is really useful! Where did you buy it?" Staring at Wang Ergou's Wo Liao, Sailfish eagerly snatched a box of cigarettes from Mahi Mahi and handed it to Wang Ergou while casually taking the Wo Liao bag.
With one handful of Wo Liao down, he tucked the remaining Wo Liao into his pocket. "This Wo Liao is mine now!"
"It's not for sale; it was part of an event at Xiao Tian's store. They don’t have any left now!" Since they had already set up the flags, Wang Ergou wasn't worried about running out of Wo Liao.
Hearing that it was not for sale, Sailfish felt a glimmer of hope. However, knowing where it came from, he figured there would be more available. He could always inquire at Shi Tian’s place for some leads; there would surely be a way to get more!
Sailfish and Mahi Mahi also had Smart Rods, but they had purchased Lure Rods. During a crossover event, they had been fishing for Sea Bass outside when they accidentally won a prize.
