"Brother, stop fiddling around and come help me record a video! I think I've hooked a big fish!" With that, Shi Tian pulled out his phone and opened the camera, eager to capture the entire process of reeling in the catch.
Since getting the Smart Rod, he hadn't shared any of his fishing experiences yet! This was his first big catch, and it was essential to document it.
Old Lin had just landed a big fish, and now Shi Tian was about to do the same? Hearing Shi Tian call him, Kong Ge quickly reeled in his rod and moved over to Shi Tian's side, squinting at Shi Tian's float.
The float hadn't moved yet, but there were bubbles forming around it that persisted without bursting. As an experienced fisherman, Shi Tian could recognize this as a sign of a potential catch.
He glanced at his float and then at Old Lin's. Old Lin had already brought in his fish, so there definitely wouldn't be any big ones for the next twenty or thirty minutes. However, Shi Tian's float remained still and didn't dance around like his own!
Had he been tricked by this guy? If they switched fishing spots now, he would lose out and end up having to take them for free!
That wasn’t too bad; it was just that this kid had some skills! In such a short time, both of them had hooked big fish. If they left right after catching them, it would be such a waste!
Suddenly, the float dipped down steadily but slowly—this meant it was about to bite!
With one hand holding the phone and the other on the rod, Shi Tian watched as the float disappeared beneath the surface. He lifted the rod sharply and successfully hooked the fish!
The sound of line slicing through water mixed with the wind whistling past created a symphony. Shi Tian immediately handed his phone to Kong Ge.
"Record this! Start with a wide shot, and when the fish surfaces, get a close-up!" He stood up while holding onto the rod tightly, focusing on the water's surface. He instructed Kong Ge briefly before pulling the fish to one side.
He didn’t want to tire it out in their fishing spot. Although there likely weren’t any fish left there now, dragging it away would give them another chance to catch more in twenty or thirty minutes! If he let it tire out in their spot for over ten minutes, they might not see any fish for half a day!
"What kind of fish is it?" Shi Tian wondered as he felt the tug on his line. Old Lin approached with a landing net in hand.
Looking at the size of those bubbles—most likely a Carp. "Hey! It’s still biting!" Before he could finish his thought, the fish dove deep into the water and stopped moving!
He had caught plenty of big fish before but hadn’t encountered many while using this method. The last time he had caught a big one at Xinyue Lake was handled by Air Force.
He had faced two more since then and had learned some tricks from those experiences.
Splash!
A large stone hit the water nearby, startling Shi Tian. He turned to see Old Lin clapping mud off his hands. What was that technique?
Surprisingly effective! As soon as that stone hit the water, Shi Tian felt the fish start to struggle again. But this method seemed a bit too rough!
The figure-eight technique wasn’t something you could use all the time; once you hooked a six or seven-pound fish, you needed to be cautious with your approach! He kept steady pressure on it to wear it out.
With such a large fish, trying to force it in was impossible; he needed to tire it out until it showed its white belly in surrender before bringing out the landing net.
After nearly twenty minutes of battling with the fish, it finally broke the surface. A hefty Big Carp weighing over ten pounds splashed its tail and created a large wave on the water.
With such a big fish thrashing about, splashing water wouldn’t help; he just had to keep wearing it down. Now that it was visible above water, it wouldn’t be long before he could bring it ashore.
As the fish reached the shore, Old Lin swiftly lowered his Ping Net, dragging the entire fish up with a quick motion.
This fish was so large that it didn’t even qualify for a photo op. With a flick of his wrist, Hook unhooked it and tossed it into the Yu Hu, washing his hands before quickly grabbing the phone from Kong Ge’s hands to share this catch right away.
“Brother, my spot is full of Xiao Yu; Hook can’t even sink to the bottom. If I drop a line, they’ll clean it out in no time. There’s definitely no big fish there!” Watching Shi Tian sitting on the Fishing Box engrossed in his phone, Kong Ge leaned in closer.
“Big Brother, check out this Social Media! This fish was just caught by Old Lin. When you open it, you can see details like size, species, and the time it was caught. If you tip a little, you can also get information on Fishing Spots, Bait, and even a clear record of how the catch happened!”
“This one here is the one I just reeled in. As soon as I shared it, four people tipped me! That’s an easy hundred and twenty bucks! After deducting the commission and withdrawal fees, I’m still pocketing over a hundred. This is way better than what you guys make with ride-hailing!”
“And what about this one? Who caught a shark and dared to share it? Two people tipped on that one! Are they planning to play Dou Di Zhu together?”
Shi Tian hooked a fish and immediately shared it. Four people tipped him, three of whom were unreliable in their actions. Shi Tian assigned them tasks, reminding them that for each catch shared based on size, they should at least show some appreciation to keep their enthusiasm up!
