The commotion drew the attention of a crowd to the Big Grass Carp. Unfortunately, the diners here were all tourists, and while many were intrigued by the fish, none had the means to buy it for themselves. Shi Tian's plan to sell the fish fell through!
Not only did he fail to sell the fish, but he also attracted a number of onlookers taking pictures. It was quite a sight—like stars surrounding a fish. Li Yunfei subtly shifted his Yu Hu to the side, nudging the Big Carp to the front, wanting to experience what it felt like to be in the spotlight.
After placing their orders, the owner collected the menu and grinned, saying, "Young man, did you really think I was narrowing my path? Look at you now; you've ordered food and will want drinks soon! I’m making money on both food and drinks—much better than just selling you that fish!"
Shi Tian's expression darkened immediately at the owner's words. This guy was quite shameless; he made money off him and then insulted him too. Didn’t he fear that Shi Tian might just walk out with his things?
"Boss," Shi Tian replied, "you saw how many people came over just for this one fish. If you set up an aquarium and kept it at your entrance, it could bring in business without any loss. Even if you only make one sale, with such a large fish here, how could you possibly lose? Just find a table to pitch it to; selling such a big fish for a few hundred bucks would be easy!"
"You’re not even willing to take on a sure profit like that? Isn’t that narrowing your path?"
Watching Shi Tian argue with the owner, Li Yunfei crossed his arms and smiled, enjoying the spectacle without interjecting.
Shi Tian was quite clever; he had managed to leave the owner momentarily speechless with just a few words. After glancing at the menu, they realized their order was quite modest—barely two hundred yuan for everything.
Spending two hundred yuan for such a large fish seemed like a guaranteed profit if they could just attract one or two customers. Following Shi Tian's line of thought, the owner quickly changed his demeanor and said, "So these dishes don’t include drinks? If that’s all you’re ordering, then I’ll take that fish! But drinks are extra!"
As soon as the owner spoke up, Shi Tian grinned widely and said, "Deal! The fish is yours! But make sure you put some effort into our dishes; we’re serious eaters!"
As for keeping that fish alive? The chances didn’t seem great; whether it could survive overnight was questionable. If it didn’t survive, it wouldn’t sell, and ultimately it would likely end up as a meal for the staff. The owner seemed a bit naive!
After enjoying their lunch, Shi Tian felt pretty good about himself. This little trick hadn’t escaped Li Yunfei’s notice; turning a useless fish into a free meal showed that this kid had some skills!
"Boss," Shi Tian chimed in again, "if I can trade my fish for food, can I trade mine for drinks? This is wild Big Carp from the Lancang River; surely you can use it! It doesn’t have to be anything fancy—just something common will do. We can’t drink much anyway; it’s still a guaranteed profit!"
Just as Shi Tian finalized his deal, Li Yunfei jumped in with his suggestion.
Upon hearing Li Yunfei’s request, the owner's face darkened. "Are you two here to eat for free or what? Thank you for your suggestion! We only accept legal tender here! Fish isn’t hard currency; we don’t accept it!" With that statement, the owner grabbed Shi Tian's Grass Carp and made to leave.
"To exchange wine for beauty and share eternal sorrows! Boss, your restaurant is located in such a picturesque place; while we may not match Wine Sword Immortal in eloquence, shouldn’t we at least pursue some of that Wine Sword Immortal flair?"
Li Yunfei understood that trading fish for wine probably wouldn’t work out but still wanted to tease the owner a bit more.
The shop owner was quite an interesting person; otherwise, he wouldn't have changed to Shi Tianyu. It's not easy to come across someone intriguing these days, and it would be a shame not to have some fun!
I would love to pursue a carefree lifestyle, but my wallet won't allow it! When Li Bai was carefree, he still had Wu Zhuang Ma and Qianjin Qiu by his side! Here I am riding an Electric Tricycle, without even a BMW to my name. How can I be carefree with this piece of junk? Even if I offered it for free, no one would want it!
As soon as he finished speaking, the shop owner shot Li Yunfei a glance and casually tossed something at him, causing Li Yunfei and Yu Hu to be pushed aside. In just about ten minutes, the owner returned with a large bag of beer and placed it on the table for the two of them.
"Hey, just for your carefree attitude, we definitely have to drink a few glasses later. Don't worry, it's on me!" Shi Tian laughed heartily as he looked at the big bag of beer on the table.
"You’re treating me? In the end, aren’t I the one who’ll be paying for the drinks?" The shop owner shot Shi Tianyi a glare and let out a rare bitter laugh. These two were quite amusing; he would definitely join them for a drink later! Just one drink though—he couldn’t afford to drink too much since he had bought that alcohol with his own hard-earned money!
Along the Lancang River, they savored the flavors of the Dai Family cuisine, while by the Mekong River, they immersed themselves in national customs.
Each person grabbed a bottle; no need for glasses. Before the dishes even arrived, they each cracked open two bottles to wet their throats.
Li Yunfei was still in business mode. After showcasing some photos of his past achievements, he immediately placed an order for a set of fishing gear, filling in the address as Beijing. It seemed that Li Yunfei would be flying out in a couple of days!
It wasn't that Li Yunfei was interested in Shi Tian or Rod; rather, Shi Tian couldn't stop talking about fishing. If they didn't buy Rods, there would be no way to continue that conversation!
