Li Ziyu managed to sneak out a few pounds of feed for them, but it wouldn't be enough to feed many shrimp. If they wanted a large batch of feed, they would have to get it from Shi Tian and Xia Shou.
Asking Shi Tian directly could raise suspicions; if he refused, it would alert him to their intentions.
"Old Kong, you’re looking quite healthy! I saw Brother Kong yesterday; he mentioned you went to Sanya? I was surprised when I received your call late last night," Hu Shuyi remarked.
Old Kong and Sanya—his own daughter was also in Sanya. It was hard to believe that Li Ziyu had gotten Old Kong into a situation where he would complain about his daughter in the middle of the night.
"Xiao Yi, I've found a boyfriend for Xiao Yu. They seem to get along well, so I'll send you the details shortly. Please help keep an eye on them!"
After exchanging pleasantries, Old Kong dropped a bombshell that nearly stunned Hu Shuyi.
"Li Ziyu is dating? That’s quite the news! And it’s affecting his own daughter too."
Old Kong's introduction seemed reliable, but as a father, he couldn't help but feel uneasy without seeing the situation for himself.
He briefly explained Shi Tian's circumstances before hanging up with a satisfied expression. The shrimp feed depended on this couple; as long as they had no objections, everything would be fine.
Shi Tian was getting close to Li Ziyu, and since he had already interjected once, it was time to say something to Li Ziyu. If he didn’t mention it now, it might never come up again.
Flipping through the information Old Kong sent about Shi Tian, Hu Shuyi felt a mix of emotions. She hadn’t heard of Shi Tian before, but she was familiar with Shi Ye due to the tumultuous romance with Lu Ying Er that had stirred quite a bit of gossip.
“Old Li, there’s a wild boar rooting around your Xiao Baicai!” After reading through Shi Tian's information, Hu Shuyi immediately called Li Ziyu's father.
“A wild boar? Where would a wild boar come from in Beijing? If it’s just uprooting some cabbage, we can buy more. Just close the door and don’t let it hurt you.” Fresh off the plane, Li Yunfei answered Hu Shuyi's call.
It seemed that after being away on business for a few days, his wife missed him. Even a few cabbage plants were enough for her to call him—surely she wasn’t checking up on him!
Once he finished speaking, Li Yunfei hopped into the car.
“Xiao Sun, take me home.” He instructed the driver and turned to Hu Shuyi: “Close the door; I’ll be upstairs in an hour.”
Hearing this from Li Yunfei nearly made Hu Shuyi curse aloud. How could he be so scatterbrained and still go on business trips? How hadn’t anyone taken advantage of him yet?
He arrived quickly; she’d deal with him when he got back.
After hanging up with Li Yunfei, Hu Shuyi returned her focus to Shi Tian's information.
The young man was quite handsome and had decent educational qualifications, though his ambition seemed lacking as he ran a Fishing Tackle Shop.
On the plus side, this meant he had time to spend with her daughter.
There were no bad habits noted; his only flaw appeared to be smoking, which wasn’t too serious.
He enjoyed fishing and had been brought along by Air Force friends. This detail needed verification; it was more likely that Old Kong had introduced his daughter to him—otherwise, why would Old Kong have recommended him?
It was her own fault; she had sent her daughter to Sanya, thinking that Old Kong would help take care of her, not realizing that he would end up taking care of her entire life.
The family had opened an Import and Export Department, which was undoubtedly the work of Shi Ye. Young and talented, they were all educated individuals who could help with raising children.
The family had strict rules. Would her daughter be mistreated after entering this household? The young man who could leave home to run off to Sanya to seek out Shi Ye was probably not a mama's boy, so that was a relief.
With some culinary skills, her daughter would certainly enjoy good food. Plus, there was a master involved—someone significant. Being accepted as a disciple by such a master indicated that he must be quite clever.
If they were a bit poor, so be it; it was time to prepare more dowry. They weren’t lacking in that department, and this way, her daughter would have some status when she moved over.
As for the wild boar? As soon as he entered the room, Li Yunfei pushed open the bedroom door and stared at Hu Shuyi lying on the bed with a smile. He didn’t think that wild boars could enter their yard; he just assumed Hu Shuyi was checking on things.
"Look here! Our little water spirit, Xiao Baicai, is in trouble!" Hu Shuyi said with a grin as she held out her phone towards Li Yunfei.
He took the phone and looked at it, slapping his thigh in disbelief. "Damn it, Xiao Mian Ao is on his mind!"
"Shi Ye's nephew? No way! Tomorrow we’re going to Sanya to check things out first."
Shi Ye’s name was quite well-known in the Beijing Circle; back then, he had caused quite a stir with Old Lu's daughter. If Shi Ye had even a fraction of Old Lu's intelligence, he wouldn’t be foolish enough to get involved like Old Lu did. But how many people like Shi Ye could emerge in one era?
Shi Ye was based in Beijing; many people from Peking University had seen him. Recently, there were rumors that Ling Er had registered her marriage with Shi Ye and moved her household registration to Shandong.
It was strange that Old Lu had gone to Sanya last week, and the next day Old Lady Lu went to Shandong. On the third day, Ling Er came back to Beijing with Shi Ye. Now both Old Lu and Old Lady Lu hadn’t returned yet.
After finishing her sentence, Hu Shuyi watched as Li Yunfei immediately stood up to search through their Household Register. He found it and locked it in the safe, leaving Hu Shuyi puzzled.
"What are you locking up the Household Register for at this hour?"
"I'm going to the bank tomorrow to rent a safe deposit box and lock the Household Register there!"
He added with certainty that given Old Lu's temperament, he definitely wouldn’t give Ling Er their Household Register. This was likely Old Lu intentionally leaving a loophole for Old Lady Lu to sneak it out. Ling Er wasn’t young anymore; the old couple must be anxious!
