As dusk approached, Last Rod Brother finally arrived, albeit a bit late. Without a word, he grabbed his gear and dragged Last Cast upstream for several dozen meters to set up shop.
Fishing downstream was no longer an option. With two Li Fish Nests and two Carp spots, how much Wo Liao would it take to lure the fish over?
"Last Rod Brother, my Rod is here! Let me give it a try and see how it feels!" Knowing he was there to mooch off Air Force and Lu Ya's spots, Shi Tian wasn't about to give him that chance. He quickly took the Rod in hand, hoping to thwart Last Rod Brother's plans of buying that set of Bao Feilong gear.
Buying a complete set of rods was rare even in stores; most people would first buy one to test its quality before gradually completing their collection.
Taking the Rod from Shi Tian, Last Rod Brother casually tested it and remarked that it felt good. He then turned to Shi Tian and asked, "What time are you guys planning to fish until? It's about to get dark; aren't you leaving?"
Shi Tian replied, "What do you mean? I know you're here to mooch off us, but could you at least show some respect? Can't you be a little more subtle about your intentions?"
"We'll probably fish for another hour or so. Let's swap Rods later; I managed to sneak out half a pack of Carp Bait from them just for you! How's that for generosity?"
Upon hearing about the half pack of Carp Bait, Last Rod Brother perked up immediately. Swapping Rods didn't matter anymore.
"Come on, let me see it! Is your Rod sturdy? It won't break on me, right?"
"Just use it however you want; if it breaks, it's on me!" Shi Tian shoved some Wo Liao into Last Rod Brother's hands and returned to his Fishing Spot. He didn't bother with baiting anymore and casually stuffed a handful of Plastic Particles into his pocket. As long as they weren't Bait, he didn't care what they were!
After searching for the bottom for over half an hour, Shi Tian watched as Last Rod Brother reeled in two Carp while his own Float remained motionless. He felt a bit frustrated.
One hook had Plastic Particles while the other had worms—surely that should work!
Then the Float started dancing. It moved sideways, then upright; it rose a notch and then sank again. What was going on?
He lifted the rod—empty hook! He continued with the worms, determined to catch whatever was down there!
Another round of dancing followed by another lift—still an empty hook! He tried again!
"Come on! Get over here!" Shi Tian was still stubbornly battling whatever was down there when Air Force tapped him on the back.
"You've been playing with this thing for ages; are you really going to let it get away now?"
"Last Cast! Let's reel this thing in and then we can go!" Shi Tian’s temper was rising as he swapped in another worm and cast again.
"What is down there? It's been biting for twenty minutes and I still can't pull it up! Should I switch to a smaller Sleeve Hook just to play with it?"
"You guys go ahead! I want to fish a bit longer!" Upon hearing Shi Tian's determination, Last Rod Brother immediately turned back.
After finally managing to send those two off, he could finally go after the spot himself—he wasn’t about to leave!
"I didn’t call you; I said I’m still fishing Last Cast! I've encountered something interesting here; it's been over twenty minutes and I still can’t bring it up!" Shi Tian glanced at Last Rod Brother, feeling somewhat speechless—he had caught Last Rod Brother's enthusiasm!
Taking a glance at Shi Tian's catch, Last Rod Brother chuckled, "It's either crabs or shrimp; there's a good chance there are no fish left in your spot!"
Upon hearing it was shrimp, Lu Ya immediately rushed over and pulled Shi Tian aside. "Let me handle this; I know how to fish for them!"
While Float danced in the water, Lu Ya remained perfectly still, fixated on Float. After a while, the dance slowed down, turning into a subtle nibble. Lu Ya suddenly lifted the rod with a sharp tug—yes! He had hooked one!
The large shrimp from the Lancang River were famous; they were rare to find domestically but had become quite abundant abroad, especially in Vietnam, where they were said to be overrun!
With pincers measuring over twenty centimeters and the body nearly as long, this shrimp weighed about half a kilogram—equivalent to an entire plate of shrimp elsewhere!
As Lu Ya reeled in the half-kilogram shrimp, he noticed Shi Tian and Air Force posing for photos. He quickly switched to another worm and cast his line again. Within minutes, Float began dancing once more.
"This one can't be eaten; let's take a picture and release it!" he casually remarked. Just as he said that, he hooked another large shrimp. This one was slightly smaller but still impressive.
"What's wrong? Is it poisonous?" Shi Tian asked, puzzled by Lu Ya's intention to release it. When had Lu Ya become so merciful? Back when they were fishing with lures, he wouldn't have spared even a small Ma Kou!
