Yingde, a county-level city located in the northeastern part of Guangdong, is bordered to the north by Shaoguan, with the Bei River flowing through it from north to south.
With over two thousand yuan from the help of Zha Xian Ge and Seventh Uncle, Shi Tian took four days to arrive here, moving at a leisurely pace. He had initially planned to stay in Xi River for two days, but thinking about his online store, he set off early this morning. The nearly three-kilometer journey was completed by noon.
As soon as the car stopped and the door opened, several people reached into the vehicle, and Shi Tian was pulled out.
"Second brother, you live closest but arrived last. You're not being very proactive! You’ll have to drink as punishment later!" Brother Niu said as he leaned against the car, giving Shi Tian a stern welcome.
"Take it easy! I know you folks from Xinjiang can drink! Tonight I'll be at the kids' table; I'm afraid of you all!" Drinking with these people felt a bit intimidating.
People from Xinjiang are known for their strong drinking capacity; northerners generally hold their liquor well too. The cold climate there makes them fond of warming up with a few drinks, often starting at fifty-proof or higher.
Brother Niu is from the north, and Bird Brother is also from there. Only Jian Ge is from the south, but his family brews alcohol, so there probably won’t be any pineapple beer on the table tonight.
"You might not have a chance at the kids' table; it’ll just be the four of us tonight. Let’s get your things inside; I’ve saved you the best room! It’s uncomfortable out here in this blazing sun; why not enjoy some air conditioning and tea inside?"
Shi Tian admired Guangdong's tea culture; every household has a tea table right at the entrance. No matter how hot it gets, they always start with a cup of hot tea to cool down.
"What stuff? Just a few changes of clothes!" He opened the trunk and grabbed his small suitcase. A few people hurried inside to enjoy the air conditioning; it was almost winter, yet it was still nearly thirty degrees Celsius at noon here. The southern folks truly are fortunate!
Thinking back to the north, temperatures had already dropped to freezing by this time of year, and heating hadn’t even started yet!
Of course, Northeast China can’t compare to Xinjiang; they’ve had heating for months already. In August, snow falls—if they didn’t start heating early, they wouldn’t be able to endure it.
Under Jian Ge's guidance, they moved their things into the room. When they came back down, Brother Niu and Bird Brother were already enjoying hot tea in the cool air. This treatment reminded Shi Tian of a stark contrast.
The current conditions in Northeast China must be completely opposite! Based on past experiences, people there would be huddled around heaters eating ice cream. Why not set up some pipes to send some of this southern heat northward while sending some of that cold wave back south?
"Why is your car filled with fishing gear? Are you planning to come here to fish?" Bird Brother asked as he poured himself a cup of hot tea.
Earlier, when Shi Tian took Li Xiang’s gear, Bird Brother had noticed it. Although he doesn’t fish himself, he recognized fishing equipment. Ignoring the Fishing Box and Rod Case for now, that Lure Bag clearly had "Xingpai Fishing Gear" written on it.
"Bringing fishing gear just to fish here? I run a farm; there's a river right outside my yard—of course I have a few fishing rods!" Hearing that Shi Tian brought his own rod just for fishing made Jian Ge stand up and express his delight.
It made Jian Ge happy that several people traveled such a long distance to attend his wedding. Now that they were on his turf, he had to take good care of them and ensure everyone had fun!
"I also have my own business now; I opened a fishing tackle shop in Sanya. From now on, you all have to call me Shi Zong!" After joking around, Shi Tian raised his teacup to his lips.
"Oh my gosh!" He set down his cup on the table; his tongue felt completely scalded!
Shi Tian’s little business didn’t impress them much; Brother Niu had so many cattle and sheep that he could easily buy out Shi Tian’s shop if he wanted.
Bird Brother was even more carefree; with several online stores running smoothly, he only needed to manage operations—checking data each night and placing orders as needed while leaving everything else to customer service. He had built his success from scratch and was doing quite well.
Although they may not be as carefree as others, the farm they live on belongs to Jian Ge. With just a few months of operation each year, the family's expenses are covered, and during their free time, they engage in a few side businesses, which is much better than working for someone else!
Do you have time? After sending Jian Ge into the bridal chamber, how about spending a few days with me, Sanya? Sunshine, beaches, and bikinis—I can take you out on the boat for a couple of laps on the sea. I guarantee you’ll have such a great time that you won’t want to leave!
Jian Ge definitely won’t have time; once the wedding is over, he’ll be off on his honeymoon. I just wonder where they chose to go!
Brother Niu is afraid of his wife; Ying has him completely under her thumb. This time, Ying came along too, but she ran off shopping with Jian Ge's wife, leaving Brother Niu to venture out alone. She can’t rest easy about that!
With Ying around, Sanya figures Brother Niu wouldn’t want to let her go. Watching other people’s beauties on the beach is one thing, but showing off his own beauty would just make him feel like he’s losing out.
