Thank you, Zhan Di Ge! After handing out two cigarettes to the two of them, Shi Tian decided to take a break and chat for a bit, curious if they had any interest in buying a Rod.
However, it seemed unlikely. They were into Sea Rods, which was a different game altogether from Lures. Even if a Lure Rod ended up in their hands, it wouldn’t make much difference! But he didn’t want to waste the opportunity; he could persuade them to try using Sea Rods for Lures, offering them some bait in exchange for helping him earn some Points.
A Sea Rod could technically be used as a Lure Rod, but it was heavy and could damage the rod, line, and even hurt the user when casting. Still, if used occasionally just to pass the time, it wouldn’t be a problem!
“Come on! Let’s catch some fish!” The two Zhan Di Ge were not playing by the rules; they didn’t mention Lures at all. After chatting briefly, they turned back to their own Fishing Spot!
It seemed the excitement wasn’t enough! After finishing his cigarette, he picked up his Rod, waved it, and cast it out. He was determined to catch another fish and prove that they would be tempted!
Ding ding ding!
As soon as the bell rang, Zhan Di Ge number one sprang into action, lifting his Rod and quickly reeling in. The Sea Rod was much sturdier than the Lure Rod!
Minutes passed, and as the fish approached the shore, Shi Tian hurriedly reeled in his line and grabbed the net from Zhan Di Ge number one to help scoop up the fish—a seven-pound Sea Bass. It was a good start!
Next came the performance from the two Zhan Di Ge, who occasionally caught a fish, keeping Shi Tian on edge with excitement!
By ten in the morning, the sun was getting quite strong! They needed to head towards Xi River, about three hundred kilometers away. It would be best to hit the road while it was still hot so they could arrive by late afternoon!
“What’s wrong? Are you done fishing so soon?” Seeing Shi Tian packing up, the two Zhan Di Ge approached with slight smiles.
The young ones really lacked patience! It hadn’t been long since they caught fish, and already he couldn’t sit still? What a pity; if this kid caught another fish, there would be one less person to envy him!
They still had to travel later; they were heading to Xi River tonight! After replying to the two Zhan Di Ge, Shi Tian loaded his things into the car and returned with ten sets of Chained Hooks.
“I got some extra Chained Hooks when I bought my Rod. I don’t use a Sea Rod, so if you don’t mind, you can take them!”
A Sea Rod can use either Chained Hooks or explosive hooks. In freshwater fishing, explosive hooks are often used more. They have a spring in the middle for attaching bait and five hooks around it, plus one hook at the bottom. A set of explosive hooks has one hook; I heard that in some places now they aren’t allowed anymore—one rod can use at most two hooks!
As for the Chained Hooks, it’s simple: tie three to five hooks on one line with a small lead weight at the bottom. They can be used on either a Sea Rod or an Iso Rod.
“Where did you buy your Rod? You’re so generous! How many did you buy? You got so many hooks with just one purchase!” exclaimed Zhan Di Ge, looking incredulous.
The Chained Hooks aren’t too expensive, but there’s no way they’d give away this many! Usually, you might get one set with each rod—maybe two at most—but never ten sets at once!
“There’s a fishing tackle shop over in Sanya that gives away hooks with purchases. Even if you buy just a box of worms, they insist on giving you a set of hooks!” As he spoke, he realized he had accumulated quite a few over time!
“Should we open an online store? But starting a business means hiring people; that could be troublesome! Still, opening one wouldn’t hurt. For now, I could just hire one customer service rep and gradually bring more people on as orders increase. Just by giving away hooks, my store should pick up quickly!”
Once he got back home, he planned to calculate everything and try launching an online store first. He heard that there’s quite a bit of depth in this market—big fish swim in deep waters; he wanted to go online for “Fishing for Big Fish”!
With that thought in mind, Shi Tian pulled out his phone and added both of them on WeChat before quickly pulling them into a group chat.
I want to buy some Hooks from that guy in the group, but I wouldn’t recommend you buy them directly; it’s a rip-off. You could buy something else and have him throw in some Hooks for you. Last time, I saw someone buy ten packs of Bait and ask for ten sets of Hooks in return. One was bold enough to ask, and the other was generous enough to give—now that’s unbeatable!
I planted a seed for two Zhan Di Ge, waved goodbye to Shi Tian, and after grabbing a quick breakfast, I hit the gas and sped out of Zhanjiang.
I need to stay away from these Sea Rods in the future; there’s no profit in it! They don’t have high demands for equipment; they only care about quantity over quality. A single set of equipment can be used by several people, and Sea Rods are ridiculously cheap—there’s really no way to enjoy it!
I made my way to the Xi River and found a humble inn.
“Excuse me, do you have any rooms available?” This seemed like a family-run place, with an elderly man in his fifties managing it. If it were a regular inn, it should be run by younger folks!
“Yes, we have rooms! Do you prefer a big bed room or a standard room? Just one person staying, right?” The uncle cheerfully came out after seeing Shi Tian.
“A big bed room will do. How much is it?”
“One hundred for the night. It comes with a TV, hot water, and internet.”
