"Boss, can you bring me that rod to take a look?"
Having missed the ferry last night, Liu Lei crossed the sea early this morning and by the time he returned to Sanya, it was nearly ten o'clock. Following the navigation, he found Xing Xing Fishing Tackle Shop. Upon entering, he felt a pang of discomfort. He had asked Old Gao to spend six thousand on a rod, and here it was casually displayed on the shelf for only six hundred!
Had he been conned by Old Gao? Not only had that guy marked it up tenfold, but he also had the audacity to let Liu Lei treat him to a meal and then go for a foot wash afterward. It felt like he was being played for a fool!
Clinging to a glimmer of hope, Liu Lei asked Sun Lang to fetch a sample rod from the shelf. Comparing it with the rod in his hand, they looked identical! Even the action seemed the same. Pulling out his rod and giving it a test, he realized he had indeed been badly duped by Old Gao!
"Boss, can you check if these two rods are from your shop? Are they the same as what you sell?" Liu Lei asked, slamming his rod down on the counter with reddened eyes.
Liu Lei's demeanor made Su Xueyi shiver. Was this guy looking for trouble? Was there something wrong with the rod?
Su Xueyi felt a bit scared, but Sun Lang didn’t care. If someone dared to cause a scene in the shop, they would handle it accordingly. If someone wanted to act tough, they’d first experience some grappling techniques!
Taking out his phone, Sun Lang scanned the QR code on the rod. The words "Genuine Product" appeared on the screen. He placed his phone on the counter and said, "This is our rod; it’s no different from what we sell. Is there a problem with it?"
Hearing this, Liu Lei felt an urge to grab a big knife and have a serious chat with Old Gao. However, that could wait; he was here to buy a customized rod—that was his priority.
Old Gao wasn’t going anywhere; he was running his shop. Liu Lei could choose any time to find him for trouble!
"No, this rod is fine!" After some explanation, Liu Lei forced out a smile and asked, "Do you have any customized rods available? Can I order one now?"
Sun Lang and Su Xueyi both knew about the customized rods; they remembered when Shi Tian sold a set to Old Wen right in front of them—the price had left a lasting impression.
Customized rods? Those weren’t cheap—seventy thousand each! Are you sure you want me to call and ask? But there’s no guarantee you’ll get one before the New Year; most likely, you’ll have to wait until after.
Mentioning customized rods made Sun Lang cautious as well. There weren’t many people who ordered them; so far, he had only seen those four old men each have a set. To be associated with those old men meant they were not ordinary folks.
Hearing seventy thousand per rod made Liu Lei gasp in shock. Spending over seventy thousand on a fishing rod? Was this a joke? He used to spend only a few thousand on professional rods; he had heard of customization before, but that was only around ten or twenty thousand!
However, thinking about Yi Laotou’s Rodman made it impossible for Liu Lei to give up that desire!
"Alright! I’ll order an eight-meter one-piece rod; please call and ask!"
Though seventy thousand made him wince, not spending that money would hurt even more—he’d probably lose sleep over it later!
Glancing at Liu Lei, Sun Lang grabbed his phone and dialed Shi Tian.
"What’s wrong? What happened?" Shi Tian asked, frowning as he sat beside Li Ziyu at the edge of the Artificial Lake, feeding the fish. He noticed Sun Lang calling and felt a bit disheartened.
He had to answer the call from Sun Lang. If nothing unusual was happening at the shop, they could handle it themselves. But if he was calling, it meant there was a problem that couldn’t be resolved easily. There was also a possibility that they just wanted to drag him back to the shop while throwing in some dog food for him!
"Boss, someone wants to buy a Customized Rod! Do you want to come take a look?" Shi Tian sounded somewhat displeased, but Sun Lang was perceptive enough not to say anything further to irritate him.
A rod priced at seventy thousand; surely, Shi Tian's mood would improve a bit considering that amount!
Someone wants to buy a Customized Rod? Who even knows about the Customized Rod? Four old gentlemen and Shi Chui!
The four old gentlemen hadn’t contacted him, and neither had Shi Chui. So what was there to sell?
Currently, there were no Customized Rods available; he wasn’t taking orders for them before the New Year. He would reconsider after the holiday! After thinking for a moment, Shi Tian outright refused.
Whoever wanted to buy a Customized Rod didn’t matter; he wasn’t selling them now! Scarcity increases value! If Customized Rods became too common, they wouldn’t be worth anything!
If it were someone from the old gentlemen’s side wanting to buy a rod, they would definitely go through them first. If the old gentleman made a call, he could sell the rod himself and owe the old gentleman a favor. Why wouldn’t he do that?
As for Shi Chui’s side, there wasn’t much of a favor system involved; they were still out having fun, with their connections back home. If it were something urgent, Shi Chui would have called him directly for it—not just to buy but to demand it outright; Shi Chui wouldn’t be polite about it!
After hanging up, Sun Lang spread his hands and said, "Sorry, we’re not taking custom orders before the New Year. Even if we do take orders, it’ll be after the holiday. Why don’t you come back then?"
Hearing this, Liu Lei looked utterly dejected. Yi Laotou had told him that custom orders wouldn’t be possible before the New Year; he had only come by hoping for a stroke of luck. Now that he found out it was true and that they weren’t making any money off it, Liu Lei truly felt helpless!
