The Dharma Shark is a formidable predator, capable of biting anything that crosses its path. Its bite is precise, leaving perfectly round wounds as if drawn with a compass.
The Great White Shark may be impressive, but when it encounters the Dharma Shark, it better be prepared to offer up some flesh or face the consequences. In the presence of the Dharma Shark, creatures like Orcas, Blue Whales, and Tuna are merely appetizers; if they don't take a bite out of them, it's simply wasteful.
Marine biologists from New Zealand have documented that Blue Whales inhabiting those waters have all encountered the Dharma Shark's sharp jaws, leaving them with several standard-sized circular bite marks measuring around ten centimeters across.
This creature doesn't hesitate when it strikes; it approaches its target from below or behind, opens its mouth wide for a quick bite, and retreats in mere seconds. By the time these large fish realize what has happened, the Dharma Shark has already vanished!
However, its most notable achievements aren't just against fish; it has also taken on the Navy of the White Eagle. In the late 20th century, submarines belonging to the White Eagle frequently encountered issues with small circular bite marks on their sonar domes and soundproofing tiles. This led them to believe that the Great White Shark had developed some secret weapon, causing panic among their crew.
After much investigation, it was discovered that these damages were caused by the Dharma Shark, which had bitten through thirty submarines in total—almost driving the White Eagle to despair!
In a recent incident at Beihai's beach resort, several people were bitten, which was attributed to this creature. However, it typically resides in deep waters and doesn't often venture close to shore.
Despite its terrifying reputation, don't be fooled into thinking it's some massive giant fish; it only grows to about ten centimeters in length and resembles a slender Bigeye Mullet.
After another drink, Head Brother decided to show Shi Tianyi some respect. He picked up his chopsticks and grabbed a piece of Mu Er. Just as he intended to compliment it casually, he found himself unable to stop eating once he tasted it.
The supplies on the drilling platform are still timely; for nearshore operations like this one, they generally receive resupplies once or twice a week. While fresh ingredients are plentiful, culinary skills leave much to be desired.
As the wind whipped around them, Head Brother recognized that everyone was eager to rest. He didn't linger too long at Mini Air Force; after finishing the dishes on the table and patting his belly with satisfaction, he stood up and said, "You can dock your boat over there and tie it to the platform's pillars for the night. That way you can sleep more soundly."
"But remember," he added, "there's a rule over there: no smoking and no open flames."
With that said, Head Brother waved his hand, and a small boat immediately rushed over.
He grabbed what little remained of the Moutai on the table and tucked it away before descending from the ship onto the small boat. He called out one last time: "You probably won't make it for breakfast tomorrow! If you need supplies for lunch while you're at Zao Kou, just let me know!"
As Head Brother boarded the small boat and set off, Shi Tian opened a locked storage box on board and placed half a bottle of Moutai inside. The two cigarettes prepared for him by Shi Tian had already disappeared, but at least that bottle of liquor remained safely tucked away.
Once everyone had cleaned up after their meal, Shi Tian turned to Scallion and Ginger to Remove Fishy Smell and asked if they should dock at that platform.
There were already plenty of fishing boats tied up over there as well as smaller vessels secured to the drilling platform's pillars; those on board were accustomed to such sights.
"Let's dock over there! That way we won't need anyone to keep watch overnight; it'll be more restful!" Scallion and Ginger suggested. He urged Shi Tian and the others to go get some rest while he and Oka took care of tying up the boat over there since they would need an early start tomorrow.
Night fishing can also be rewarding; species like Ribbonfish and Squid are attracted to light and can yield quite a catch overnight.
They didn't want to stay up too late tonight, planning to wake up early tomorrow, fish until noon, take a nap, and then enjoy an all-nighter the following evening. Shi Tian wasn't accustomed to going out to sea; the ocean at night wasn't as beautiful as it was during the day. He worried about developing a fear of deep water or something similar. It wouldn't do to come out for just one day and then head back! It was better to let him adjust first.
Once inside the cabin, he lay down on the bed, pondering a question. Last time, he had caught a tuna weighing around thirty pounds, which had exhausted him. But today, he reeled in a tuna over thirty pounds, and it didn't feel that much different from the thirty-six-pound one he had caught before! Was it that the tuna was weaker, or had his strength increased? However, judging by Oka's performance after taking the rod, it seemed more likely that his strength had indeed improved.
He pulled out his phone and opened the camera to examine himself. After taking off his shirt and tightening his stomach, he inhaled deeply. His abdomen suddenly revealed six distinct bulges—clearly defined muscles. If he remembered correctly, he used to have only four, and they were barely visible. Now there were two more that were not only visible but also tangible. Was he heading down the path of bodybuilding?
He dismissed the idea of bodybuilding; he wasn't going to star in any movies. Those extra two muscles wouldn't earn him much more money anyway, plus there would be restrictions on what he could eat and drink. There was no way he could enjoy fishing under the sun while making money if he had to follow such rules!
Fishing could be a form of fitness! He realized that since he hadn't been doing much physical work lately and had only been fishing, it seemed he needed to keep at it! Flexing his biceps brought an immediate wave of soreness; that big fish had really worn him out! He figured he'd need to catch a couple more tomorrow to solidify his gains.
As he closed his eyes and lay back on the bed, he felt as if he was fishing again! This fish was quite large—like the marlin from Hemingway's novel—making it difficult to drag alongside the boat. The fish leapt into the air and struck him right through with its bill. Darkness began to envelop him as he could hear his heart pounding in his chest.
With all his might, he opened his eyes one last time to gaze upon this world he cherished, only to find himself lying in a small steel room. A rhythmic knocking came from the door! His clothes were soaked through, and his entire bed was damp with sweat.
"Enough already! Stop knocking!" he muttered as he climbed out of bed and opened the door, only to find Scallion and Ginger to Remove Fishy Smell almost ready to punch him in the face!
He hurriedly washed up and prepared for fishing! Taking a deep breath, Scallion and Ginger to Remove Fishy Smell tossed out a remark before turning away.
Around three in the morning, Scallion and Ginger to Remove Fishy Smell's first action was to knock on Shi Tian's door. Since Shi Tian hadn't been out at sea much before and lived alone in a room, Scallion and Ginger to Remove Fishy Smell was somewhat worried about him; if he got seasick or something went wrong, there would be no way to explain it to their master!
As Scallion and Ginger to Remove Fishy Smell turned to head for the boat, Shi Tian followed closely behind with a mournful expression: "You owe me a fish! A marlin over a foot long! I was just about to haul it onto the boat when your knocking interrupted me!"
