Watching the meme competition in the group, Shi Tian felt a bit of a headache. He had planned to make a batch of fishing boxes today, but that would have to wait until after the competition. He would tally up the numbers later and let them pick them up from the store on Monday.
After breakfast, he accompanied the old man and the others to the store. A few of them took it upon themselves to set up stalls across the street, while Shi Tian went inside to prepare some stock.
Tomorrow, he would need to keep an eye on the fishing competition, and there would surely be plenty of customers coming into the store. Sales were bound to increase significantly. Taking advantage of the time he had now, he decided to stock up so that they wouldn’t run out of supplies tomorrow.
“What are you doing? Stop daydreaming and help with the restocking!” Holding a pile of fishing gear as he entered the store, Shi Tian called out to Sun Lang behind the counter for assistance.
“Let me set this down first,” Sun Lang replied, shaking his head. “I was just checking the weather forecast! It said it would rain on Tuesday, but now it’s sunny. This weather forecast is completely unreliable!”
He scrolled through eight different weather forecasts on social media, each giving a different prediction, all of which seemed like lies to him!
Hearing this, Shi Tian was taken aback and sighed. This guy was hopeless!
If it wasn’t going to rain, couldn’t he think outside the box? Find a place without rocks to trip over or smear some used engine oil on a chain so that Su Xueyi’s dress would get dirty? Or loosen a couple of screws, tie some wire, and create a small tear in her dress?
Opportunities should be seized when they arise; if there are none, one must create them! This guy had little sense of adaptability!
However, Shi Tian wouldn’t teach him such tricks; he still relied on this cheap labor to help run the store! If Sun Lang left, what would happen to his fishing competition? Did he have time to fish himself?
Throwing the car keys at Sun Lang, Shi Tian said, “I’m off to catch some shrimp; you handle restocking!”
Sun Lang shot Shi Tian a look. “If you’re going fishing, just say so! Why beat around the bush? I’ll pick up Su Xueyi when I get back at noon!”
Shi Tian felt a headache coming on; this guy wasn’t stupid at all—he just turned into an idiot when it came to Su Xueyi!
“What do you know? I’m going to negotiate a big deal worth hundreds of thousands! How can I raise Su Xueyi’s salary if I don’t make money? I can keep an eye on things for you at noon, but I need to get back early in the afternoon; those old men can call me anytime!”
“Come back with me tonight; we have another car at home. It’ll be easier for you to pick up and drop off Su Xueyi!”
That Electric Mini had been resting for over a week now. However, after getting used to Dai Yue Ye’s car, he found the Electric Mini less appealing! It was fuel-efficient, sure, but he hadn’t even filled it up! There was still half a tank left!
When Shi Tian mentioned giving him a car for use, Sun Lang shook his head firmly. “No way! It’s not even raining yet! I’ll come back early in the afternoon; when I drive your car, I’ll ride my bike to pick her up—it won’t be awkward that way!”
Rubbing his nose, Shi Tian thought this guy’s intelligence was as unpredictable as Old Xue’s cat! Now he was online again!
Running over to set up his stall across the street this time without hesitation, he cast his line straight into the water.
Old Zhang’s catch had already been wiped clean by him; with so many fish added recently, Old Zhang had been living quite comfortably. However, once that line broke, the fishing conditions immediately worsened. He only managed to catch two Black Sea Breams all morning.
Shui Bi Zhang and Shui Laoban appeared after some time too; they looked wilted like frostbitten eggplants.
“Shui Laoban, didn’t you go out to sea? How was your haul?” Shi Tian wanted to inquire about going out himself and thought he’d check with Shui Laoban first. If their catch was good, they could arrange something since Shui Laoban and Shui Bi Zhang were likely available at any time.
After hearing Shi Tian's question, Shui Laoban looked even more dejected. Drooping his head, he muttered in response: “What haul? I threw thousands in and came back empty-handed! Not even a single fish!”
No need to ask, these two must have never been out to sea; they're seasick! Hearing that Shui Laoban was feeling queasy, Shi Tian immediately crossed both of them off the candidate list. Getting seasick just from going out to sea? What a shame! He had gone out with Air Force before and didn’t feel sick at all! It seemed his fishing talent was maxed out; as long as he gathered enough people, he could go out and enjoy the waves!
The fishing conditions today were a bit poor! At this hour, they had only caught a few fish. Had they fished this place dry this week? He stood up and handed a cigarette to Shi Tian, casually asking, “Is the fishing really that bad?”
“Can’t blame us for that. A couple of days ago, there was a hot spot, and Old Zhang made a killing! Just ask him to show you his Fish Catch from this period; I guarantee you won’t be able to walk!” Shi Tian replied.
Thinking for a moment, Shi Tian added, “You know I held a few Chou Tiao competitions last weekend, right? The fish we caught were frozen in Old Zhang’s freezer. He’s been hitting that hot spot for days now; he’s caught four fish over twenty pounds!”
In the Shui Bi Zhang group, everyone should be aware of the Chou Tiao competition. Although Shui Laoban wasn’t in the group, he knew about it too. After they went out to sea, Shi Tian started organizing it and had even talked to a few people. However, those folks looked down on Xiao Yu and had no intention of participating.
Hearing that there were still fish to be caught, Shui Laoban clearly became interested and headed over toward Old Zhang.
Shi Tian’s voice wasn’t quiet; those nearby, including Shui Bi Zhang, could definitely hear him. As for what Shui Bi Zhang might do with that information, it was none of Shi Tian’s concern!
While Shi Tian chatted away, over at the other side, Liu Laoyezi had hooked a fish. Wen Qianqian ran off to one side with her Fly Rod, dancing around while Liu Xinyue dutifully stayed by Liu Laoyezi’s side like a good little helper.
Judging by the bend in the rod, the fish that Liu Laoyezi had hooked was definitely not small. The force was bending the rod like a bow, making everyone around envious.
Using an Iso Rod for Sea Fishing, neither Liu Laoyezi nor Old Kong had much experience; it was time for Shi Tian to step in! Although he wasn’t very experienced either, he understood more than Old Kong, didn’t he?
“Step back a bit and adjust your drag; just let it tire itself out!” Seeing that Liu Laoyezi was still standing on the edge of the Fishing Platform, Shi Tian hurried over and wrapped his arms around his waist, guiding him back two steps and helping him adjust the drag.
The strength of sea fish is considerable; if it made a sudden move, it could drag the old man into the water like a lobster—now that would be trouble!
“I can handle it myself; just wait to help me with the Ling Fish!” After stepping back two paces and stabilizing himself, Liu Laoyezi firmly stopped Shi Tian from grabbing the rod, stating with conviction.
After finally hooking such a big fish, how could he let someone else take over before he even got his fill of fun?
With Liu Laoyezi hooked up, Shui Laoban couldn’t even chat with Old Zhang anymore and rushed over to help. When it came to rock fishing skills, he and Shui Bi Zhang were the only ones in this group who had any real experience; everyone else had only dabbled in it for a short time.
As he stepped forward, Shi Tian obediently fell silent, watching as he directed Liu Laoyezi on how to reel in the line while secretly learning a few tricks himself.
The sound of the drag on the Spinning Reel made everyone nearby’s adrenaline spike. Despite being drenched in sweat, Liu Laoyezi showed no signs of giving up the rod; he was determined not to let go! This made both Shui Laoban and Shi Tian anxious enough to start fidgeting!
“It’s a Hawksbill Turtle! Over thirty pounds!” As Liu Laoyezi reeled in line, the fish only briefly showed its head above water. Instantly recognizing it, Shui Laoban called out its name and estimated its size.
