A rod worth seventy-two thousand, even if folded in half, is still thirty-six thousand, equivalent to half a year's salary! According to this calculation, that old man just spent a whole set of rods, which represents ten years of her youth! Yet, he merely treats it as a toy for leisure. How envious!
Customized Rod! From now on, the price will be seventy-two thousand, but for now, the store won’t sell it; we’ll discuss it after the New Year! After muttering this to Su Xueyi, Shi Tian began to think about the Customized Rod.
His father is also a fisherman and would surely appreciate a Fishing Rod. Everyone else has Customized Rods now, yet he hasn’t even given Lao Shi an Ordinary Rod. Being busy is just an excuse; it’s hard to justify this situation! He can’t just wait for Lao Shi to bring it up first!
He raised his hand and took a picture of the store's shelves, then turned around and snapped a panoramic shot of the Fishing Tackle Shop before casually posting it in the family group chat.
"Prince: Father, Mother, I have acquired a property. Knowing that you both are busy with state affairs, one can’t neglect traditional etiquette! I hope you both can set a good example for me!"
After sending the message, he waited for quite some time without receiving any replies from the two. He wondered what they were so busy with!
After thinking for a moment, Shi Tian decided to drive to the villa and get the gifts ready for them!
Lao Shi was easy to please; a set of Customized Rods would make them like brothers. However, Yun Wan'er would require more thought since she doesn’t like fishing!
What if he sent her a set of kitchen knives? She might come over wielding them to chop him up!
After browsing through the Fishing Box menu for a while, Shi Tian finally picked out something decent for Yun Wan'er—a set of tactical jackets. Shi Chui and Yun Wan'er were planning to travel, so giving her a tactical jacket would be practical as it could protect against rain and wind.
With the tactical jacket sorted out, he thought about adding a sun protection jacket too! It would be useful in bad weather as well as sunny days! Although Yun Wan'er had already bought her own tactical jacket, she wouldn’t throw away something her son gave her, right?
No! Yun Wan'er’s way of thinking is still somewhat different from normal people; there’s a real possibility she might do that! He should also get Lao Shi a matching set—couple outfits should be fine!
With his mind made up, Shi Tian started working on the gifts. First up was Lao Shi’s Customized Rod. Halfway through the process, he found himself in another dilemma!
The Customized Rod for his father was designed by someone else; it featured an ink wash painting that resembled a solitary figure on a cold river with inscriptions and signatures.
Shi Ye and others weren’t as cultured as Lao Shi but had also commissioned designs—especially Air Force-themed ones that looked like they belonged in an anime.
When it came to design work, Shi Tian could manage; however, his skills were limited to basic image editing. He didn’t bring his computer along either. Maybe he could ask Yun Wan'er to send it over; who knows when he might need it again?
Even though he wasn’t skilled at design, Shi Tian had his methods. He found an online font generator and created four characters used by the emperor—he then input them into Fishing Box!
As Fishing Box was crafting Lao Shi's Rod, Shi Tian kept busy by returning to the website to generate another set of characters for his mother’s tactical and sun protection jackets. However, he decided that these four characters should be smaller when printed on the jackets; otherwise, Yun Wan'er would likely toss them into the trash at first glance!
While Shi Tian busied himself with gifts, Old Kong was chatting with Old Liu near Tide River about their fishing spots.
Old Wen had already gone to Sanya looking for Shi Tian’s Customized Rod. Both of them had their Customized Rods now; if Old Liu didn’t have one himself, how could he keep up?
“Old Liu, do you know where Old Wen went?” Old Kong asked casually while lifting his rod as he walked past Old Liu's fishing spot.
"Didn't he go to his granddaughter's place?" Old Kong glanced at Old Liu, who scoffed, "With such a good fishing spot, why is he going to be a laborer for her? Has Old Wen's brain deteriorated?"
Hearing Old Liu's complaint, Old Kong couldn't help but twitch the corner of his mouth. It was understandable; not just Old Liu, but even he had been feeling a bit down these past few days! Just a couple of days ago, they had a great fishing spot, with plenty of fish biting. They were eager to show off their skills! But when they arrived yesterday morning, they found that a group of youngsters had taken over their fishing spot!
The first rule of the fishing manual states: when fishing in wild rivers, if there’s no fishing spot, two old men can't just chase away a bunch of young people!
Having their fishing spot snatched away, they were determined to reclaim it. They set off before dawn, only to find that those youngsters had arrived even earlier. It was possible they had fished all night.
That wasn't the worst of it; they could always cultivate another fishing spot and forget about it! However, before they could do that, they watched helplessly as one of the youngsters hooked a fish. When it was weighed, it turned out to be over thirty pounds—a massive Azure Catfish! That really struck a nerve!
"Forget about his granddaughter! That old guy took her to Sanya! He went to get a custom fishing rod!"
As he spoke, Old Kong presented his rod to Old Liu. "Give it a try. This is the kind of rod that costs seventy-two thousand. That old fellow ordered an entire set at once!"
"I have some connections with him. A while back, I helped him out with something small. He called me specifically to confirm and gave me a discount because of our relationship. Even so, that set of rods would cost at least four to five hundred thousand!"
When Old Kong mentioned that one rod cost seventy-two thousand, Old Liu was stunned and couldn't close his mouth. He carefully put away his own rod and took the rod from Old Kong, baiting it before gently casting it into the water.
His previous rod was decent too; it cost over a thousand. But after Old Kong brought him this set, those thousand-dollar rods were just gathering dust at home!
Now that he held Old Kong's rod in his hands, he glanced down at his own rod that he had carefully stored away—it didn't seem so appealing anymore!
As the rod hit the water, Old Liu kept his hands on it, fingers constantly rubbing against it. This made Old Kong's mouth twitch again!
Suddenly, the float moved. He lifted the rod to hook a fish, and a palm-sized Carp flew up into the air. Old Liu casually plucked it out of the air and tossed it into his bucket.
"Now I understand why you never let go of your rod while fishing! If this rod is priced at seventy-two thousand, then it's truly worth it!" After saying this, Old Liu raised his hand to bait again, but Old Kong snatched the rod away before he could get the chance!
