The mention of the Air Force made the old man’s eyes light up. With the trademark secured, a good rod would soon be in hand. It seemed he needed to pay more attention to this matter and ensure that the rod would be ready before returning to Beijing!
He didn’t understand the registration process for the trademark, but there were people who did! Once he got back, he would call those old fellows who had previously handled such matters. Just a word from him would surely expedite the process!
Several people were eagerly trying to customize fishing rods, while Lu Ya looked somewhat confused. With enough money, what kind of fishing rod couldn’t one buy? Why was everyone rushing to buy from Shi Tian?
“What fishing rod? Let me see it!” Lu Ya asked, but before he could get an answer, the old man raised his glass and said, “What are we talking about fishing for at this hour? Come on, let’s drink!”
After a few drinks, the old man reclined in his chair and said leisurely, “Things have been quite tumultuous in Africa lately!”
“Tumultuous in Africa? When isn’t it?” The old man was likely referring to Niger, where a coup had taken place and even Gaul’s ambassador had been detained.
“Ben Zhu has been getting closer to us these past couple of years. The White Eagle doesn’t like that; they’re trying to remove Ben Zhu’s influence and send a warning,” Air Force said calmly.
Niger was once a colony of Gaul. Even after gaining independence, Gaul still held significant influence there; the official language remained French.
Upon hearing Air Force mention Ben Zhu, Shi Tian felt a bit confused but soon realized he was referring to Gaul. In French, Ben Zhu translates to “hello,” which made sense in this context.
The old man had retired; why was he discussing international affairs? What did it have to do with him? However, since the conversation had escalated to such heights, Shi Tian could only lie quietly on the side, pretending to be invisible. He didn’t dare interject for fear of exposing his ignorance!
“This situation is still developing! It will definitely stir up trouble for at least half a year!” Air Force concluded, with Lu Ya adding, “What’s so special about Niger? If there is anything worth noting, it must be its various minerals.”
Niger was famous for its uranium mines, and it also had rich reserves of oil and coal. The uranium used in those two large fireworks given by the White Eagle to Xiao Ri Zi came from Niger.
Was the old man suggesting they go to Niger to strike gold? It seemed a bit premature for that now! Besides, there were Chinese-funded enterprises there, including nuclear power and China National Petroleum; they couldn’t just go there to mine coal!
Niger might not stabilize anytime soon, but neighboring Benin was relatively stable. The privatization of industries had already begun there and reportedly was going quite well!
The old man’s words prompted some teasing among the group. “Benin? Privatizing industries? If their industrial output reaches even one percent of their total output, that would be impressive!”
However, the old man wouldn’t say such things without reason. While Shi Tian didn’t grasp the implications fully, Shi Ye and others understood.
Niger bordered Nigeria and Benin; compared to Benin, Nigeria was much stronger. By suggesting they go to Benin, was the old man hinting at establishing a route from Benin to Niger?
Benin’s port wasn’t bad at all. If this route were established, it could indeed yield considerable benefits! Transporting coal from Niger back home might not be profitable, but sending it to Europe would certainly make a fortune.
“Next month we should visit Benin; I’ve heard the fishing conditions are excellent there. Let’s see if we can catch some big fish!” The old man paved the way for this plan, and Shi Ye immediately expressed his agreement.
Shi Tian couldn't understand their cryptic conversation, but it was clear that the "we" mentioned by Shi Ye certainly did not include him. It was probably just Shi Ye, Air Force, and Lu Ya.
Early the next morning, the old man's phone rang right on time. Air Force had suggested that they have some fun with the old man and Shi Tian, but to Shi Tian, this fun was simply fishing!
They had switched to a different river to continue Taiwanese Fishing. Air Force no longer dared to take the old man for Reef Fishing; it was too exhausting, and given the old man's age, he couldn't handle it anymore.
As they cast their lines, Shi Tian's last noodle rod was snatched away by Air Force. With one person guarding two rods, they were having a great time.
Shi Tian's goal remained to catch Bai Tiao, but before that, he wanted to spread some warmth! Yesterday, he had gifted a set of Ise Nii and Pin Gou. With the change in weather and some savings in his pocket, he felt generous!
He sent down a set of Ise Nii along with a set of size three Sleeve Hooks. The Ise Nii was used on the Chang Gan while the Sleeve Hooks were used on the shorter rods. After sending down dozens of sets, his group had grown significantly!
As they prepared to go to Benin, Shi Ye and the others naturally had to make some arrangements. Before night fell, Shi Ye's phone began ringing, and the villa area gradually became lively.
Finally, Shi Ye and his team were busy with serious matters, leaving him free! Starting from scratch wasn't easy; he still needed to work hard for a while! However, there was a sense of urgency as Shi Ye and his team would soon be heading to Africa. He needed to get the shop open before they left!
The hook-giving couldn't stop; no matter how much he accumulated, it wouldn't be enough for his endeavors. Giving hooks and catching Bai Tiao had been his main business for this period. After three days of effort, he finally managed to accumulate two thousand points in his Fishing Box.
With two thousand points unlocked many good items, among which the high-end rods were particularly tempting for Shi Tian.
High-end rods below Mi Si required two thousand points; those above Mi Si hadn't been unlocked yet, so he didn't know if they would require three thousand or four thousand points. However, given the nature of the Fishing Box, four thousand points seemed more likely!
High-end rods required not only common materials but also a variety of special materials. Besides large quantities of plastic, some Rare Metals were also needed, which gave Shi Tian quite a headache.
Anything labeled as rare wasn't cheap! Fortunately, with Rare Metals in hand, the required points dropped significantly; pairing Mi Si-level rods with Rare Metals only required a hundred points!
One gram of niobium was nearly one dollar; tantalum was one dollar; silver was nearly ten dollars; gold prices were even higher—almost reaching a hundred!
Fortunately, these materials could still be purchased; however, it would definitely sting his wallet!
That wasn't even considering the expensive ones like rhodium, iridium, platinum, and palladium—each one priced astronomically high! Luckily, these special materials weren't included in what he needed; otherwise, even if he had money, Shi Tian wouldn't be able to acquire them.
He calculated that he didn't need too many Rare Metals. If he emptied his savings, it seemed like he could gather enough for now; however, it would be better to focus on accumulating points first—he shouldn't think about the High-End Fishing Rod just yet!
To open a Fishing Tackle Shop, ordinary Fishing Rods couldn't be priced too high. But custom Fishing Rods for Air Force and his friends couldn't be treated casually either. If he sold rods for a few hundred dollars in the shop but charged Air Force thousands or tens of thousands for them later on, that would hurt their friendship!
After breakfast, with his Fishing Gear packed up, Shi Tian got into his Mini Cooper and set off once again.
In the group chat, Chang Guadi messaged that Dao Wan had caught a Tiger Snapper yesterday and invited all fishing buddies to go Reef Fishing at Dao Wan today. Shi Tian signed up as well!
For the sake of reef fishing, Shi Tian didn't hold back on expenses. He had previously borrowed an Iso Rod, which belonged to an old man, and last night he crafted a new one. Along with the Wheel and Line Setup, he spent over four hundred credits, leaving him restless all night from the sting of the cost!
Fortunately, with a steady income of several hundred credits each day, he could afford such extravagance. The Fishing Box brand's reef fishing rods were sold out, but the one that Air Force had given him was still in his Storage Room.
"How's it going? Any luck?" Shi Tian asked as he offered a cigarette to Chang Guadi, who was intently watching the Float.
By the time Shi Tian arrived at the Fishing Spot, quite a few people had already gathered. It seemed that the group of fishermen was still very active; although there had only been one response last night, at least a dozen people were here now!
"I caught a few Xiao Yu, but nothing big!" Chang Guadi replied casually as he glanced back at Shi Tian.
This was also the first time Shi Tian saw Chang Guadi in person. The first encounter had been when he delivered Fish Hooks; although he remembered him, he couldn't quite place him.
In his thirties or forties, Chang Guadi's skin appeared somewhat rough from years of fishing under the sun and wind. He probably looked younger than his actual age.
