Outdoor equipment is a highly specialized matter. Just finding a backpack that fits one’s body curve is not something everyone can manage. Yun Wan'er emerged from the study, tinkering with outdoor gear, while Shi Tian caught sight of a remarkable secret. A document titled "Mediterranean Travel Guide" was displayed in full screen on the study's computer!
The Mediterranean? Was Yun Wan'er purchasing so much outdoor equipment for a self-driving or hiking trip around the Mediterranean? That seemed unlikely! The Mediterranean is not like domestic travel; while the northern regions might be fine, the eastern areas like Syria and Libya are currently embroiled in conflict. Surely, Yun Wan'er and Shi Chui wouldn’t venture into such dangerous territory!
Concerned for Yun Wan'er and Shi Chui's safety, Shi Tian slipped into the study to investigate this travel guide. Shi Ye travels extensively, constantly sharing scenic views from around the world on social media, so it was natural for Shi Chui and Yun Wan'er to be tempted. However, who is Shi Ye? Just by hearing his name, one knows he is a wild spirit; he doesn’t care about wars—he goes wherever there’s excitement.
Shi Chui and Yun Wan'er lack experience in this regard. If they were to plunge into these tumultuous regions like Shi Ye, their safety would be at serious risk. Not to mention that even in developed countries like France and England, security issues are quite concerning and cannot be compared to domestic safety conditions.
Previously, their family traveled around Europe and got robbed in Marseille, France. Fortunately, they hadn’t brought anything valuable; it was just a backpack containing some clothes and snacks. They reported the incident, but expecting French police to help recover lost items was futile. After much ado, all they received were some safety tips from the police before the matter faded away.
The Mediterranean travel guide had just begun; there wasn’t much specific content yet. However, upon closing the Mediterranean travel guide, Shi Tian became uneasy. In a folder named "Shi Chui Yun Wan Er Global Travel Guide," nearly ten subfolders lay waiting. Opening the first domestic section revealed several files.
The first file was titled "Humanities Journey," detailing a route from Mount Tai's Qiao Family Courtyard through the Terracotta Army and Qinling to Wuhou Shrine, with a packed itinerary along the way. Shi Tian spent half an hour reviewing this guide; it transitioned well into the second section, which went through Ya'an up Mang Kang but didn’t enter Tibet; instead, it headed south to Dukezong with a note indicating that autumn is not suitable for traveling to Tibet.
Then it detailed a journey through Lijiang and Dali into Shilin before entering Guangxi and finally crossing the sea to Sanya. There was another note indicating that Sanya was chosen as the Spring Festival destination.
After celebrating the Spring Festival, they would restart their journey from Yulin to Liuzhou and then Guilin, exploring Xiangxi before heading downriver to Yangzhou. After March’s festivities, they would return westward to Chongqing for hot pot before entering Tibet via the highest-altitude road to Xinjiang.
At this point, Shi Tian suddenly felt a chill run down his spine. Looking at Yun Wan'er’s itinerary and the pile of gear in the living room, it dawned on him that they were set to depart in just a few days!
While he didn’t mind Yun Wan'er and Shi Chui taking a trip—they had worked hard for many years and deserved some relaxation—he couldn’t help but worry about what would happen to their family business while they were away. Surely they wouldn’t leave everything to him!
It might be manageable for three months of oversight, but any longer would bind him to this company! And he wasn’t even studying management! Managing the family business wasn’t aligned with his expertise!
With a sense of responsibility towards the family company weighing on him, Shi Tian decided it was best to make his escape!
When he was in middle school, Yun Wan'er told him that life would be easier once he got to university. After finally battling through the college entrance exams and getting into university, Yun Wan'er then said that freedom would come after graduation!
But just three days into his newfound freedom, Shi Chui and Yun Wan'er were already plotting against him. No wonder their tolerance for him had increased during this visit home; it was all just an illusion!
After spending some time helping Yun Wan'er with her gear, Shi Tian decided it was time to formulate an escape plan. He needed to grab his phone, driver's license, and ID card, and he might as well take his passport too—just in case he decided to wander abroad, it would save him the hassle of applying for a new one later!
It would be best to take his notebook as well; if he ran out of money on the road, he could find a temporary job nearby. Having a laptop on hand would certainly make things easier!
But then again, maybe he shouldn't bring it. The chances of needing it were slim, and it took up quite a bit of space—it would just be a burden!
The biggest problem was that his funds were extremely tight. He had transferred all the money from his bank account to his phone, which amounted to barely ten thousand yuan. This was after three months of hard labor to save up; otherwise, not being in debt would have been a blessing!
Once everything was ready, Shi Tian pulled out his phone and decided to have a serious talk with Shi Ye about finances.
He could do whatever he wanted outside! Why did he have to flaunt things in front of Shi Chui and Yun Wan'er? Now both of them were conspiring to leave him at home while they planned their getaway! How was he supposed to live like this?
However, just as he dialed the number, Shi Tian abruptly hung up the call!
Now was not the right time to confront Shi Ye about money. If Shi Ye found out that Shi Chui and Yun Wan'er were planning a trip and leaving him behind to watch the house, he would undoubtedly help Shi Chui come up with ideas to trap him. By then, escaping would be much more difficult!
Tracking down Shi Ye wasn't hard; as long as he was in the country, his location could easily be found on social media. It wouldn't be difficult to locate him at all.
