“Dialysate? Reported?” I murmured to myself, a wave of unease washing over me. “Does this have anything to do with the demolition and Cheng Huai?” 0

“Please hurry, time is of the essence,” the doctor said with a gentle sigh before turning to leave. 0

When I returned home, I discovered the Demolition Contract, bearing Cheng Huai's signature, with a compensation amount that was pitifully low. I grabbed the contract, my hands trembling with anger. “Cheng Huai, how far are you going to push me?” I shouted, throwing the contract aside. It arced through the air before landing softly on the ground. 0

I went to find Cheng Huai but was stopped by security at the company entrance. Bai Wei emerged, dressed in vibrant clothing and striding with an air of arrogance. “What’s wrong? Still not giving up?” she taunted. 0

“Don’t push your luck!” I glared at her, my eyes blazing with fury. “Where is Cheng Huai? Let him come out!” 0

“He won’t see you. If you know what’s good for you, just leave,” Bai Wei said dismissively, a cold smirk playing on her lips. 0

I trembled with rage, my fists clenched tightly. Just then, Zhou Ran called: “Lin Xia, don’t worry. I’ll help you get to the bottom of this.” 0

“Zhou Ran… thank you,” I replied, my voice choking as tears welled up in my eyes. “I really don’t know what to do anymore.” 0

“Don’t worry; I’m here for you.” Zhou Ran’s words brought a flicker of warmth to my heart. 0

After meeting up with Zhou Ran, we began investigating Cheng Huai and the demolition project. Zhou Ran frowned, his expression serious. “I found a warehouse near Cheng Huai’s company that seems suspicious; there might be something shady going on.” 0

“Really? Then what are we waiting for? Let’s go check it out!” Hope ignited within me as my eyes brightened. 0

Late at night, we quietly slipped into the warehouse. It was filled with stacks of documents, everything shrouded in dim light and shadows. We moved cautiously, careful not to make a sound. Suddenly, footsteps echoed from outside. 0

"Someone's coming, hide!" Zhou Ran pulled me quickly behind a pile of boxes. His hand gripped mine tightly, his palm sweaty with anxiety. 0

Once the footsteps faded into the distance, we dared to continue our search. Finally, amidst a chaotic mess of documents, we found some crucial items. But before we could leave, a group of men in black suddenly appeared, surrounding us completely. The leader glared at us with a fierce expression. "You've got some nerve, trying to steal!" 0

"We're not thieves!" I retorted loudly, my voice trembling with tension as I instinctively moved closer behind Zhou Ran. 0

Zhou Ran shielded me protectively, standing tall as he declared, "What do you want? Don't make any rash moves!" 0

The two sides faced off, and the air was thick with tension. Suddenly, the men in black lunged at us like rabid dogs. Zhou Ran fought back fiercely, his movements agile and brave, but outnumbered, he was soon caught in the chaos and sustained injuries. 0

During the scuffle, one of the black-clad men accidentally knocked over a shelf, causing cheap steel bars to scatter across the floor. They glimmered with an eerie blue hue under the moonlight, starkly contrasting with the high-quality steel bars Zhou Ran had brought. He picked up one of the inferior bars and used his pocket cutter to snip it; surprisingly, the cut formed a heart shape! 0

"Zhou Ran, are you okay? Are you hurt?" I asked anxiously, worry filling my eyes as I reached out to check for injuries. 0

"I'm fine, don't worry about me! Just run!" Zhou Ran shouted urgently, his voice firm and insistent. 0

We seized the moment to escape amidst the chaos, but that heart-shaped cut on the steel bar lingered in my mind like an unshakable shadow. What could this twisted heart shape possibly signify? 0
