In the cold winter months, white snowflakes danced gracefully from the sky, draping the city in a layer of silver. As the year drew to a close, a rich festive atmosphere filled the streets and alleys.
In this icy world, Lin Xiao Yu was, as usual, deeply immersed in her dance practice in the Training Room. She repeated difficult movements over and over again, beads of sweat forming on her forehead, her face appearing somewhat pale. Suddenly, her body swayed, darkness enveloped her vision, and she fainted without warning.
Beside her, Ma Zhao Zhao was startled by this sudden turn of events. She quickly fumbled for her phone, trembling fingers dialing Lu Zean's number. Her voice quivered with panic as she cried out, "Lu Zean! Something's wrong! Lin Xiao Yu fainted while practicing! You need to come quickly!"
Upon receiving the call, Lu Zean felt a surge of anxiety. He dropped everything and rushed to the Training Room without a second thought. Soon, they met and together lifted Lin Xiao Yu into the car, speeding towards the hospital.
Throughout the journey, Lu Zean gripped the steering wheel tightly, his eyes fixed on the road ahead as beads of sweat rolled down his forehead. His voice trembled as he asked, "Zhao Zhao, what exactly happened? Did she mention feeling unwell before?"
Ma Zhao Zhao's face was filled with worry as she replied urgently, "I’m not sure. She looked a bit tired when she came to practice today but insisted on continuing. Who would have thought she would faint? It's all my fault for not paying more attention to her."
Lu Zean gritted his teeth and said, "It's not your fault; I've been too busy lately to take care of her properly. She's been pushing herself too hard for her dance career. I should have reminded her to take care of herself."
Ma Zhao Zhao tried to comfort him, saying, "Lu Zean, don’t be too hard on yourself. Lin Xiao Yu has always been strong-willed. Maybe she's just exhausted; she'll be fine after some rest." Lu Zean's expression remained grave as he shook his head and insisted, "No. Once she's better, I will make sure she reduces her workload. She can't keep neglecting her health like this." The car sped through the snowy streets as both their hearts were tightly knotted with worry, hoping to reach the hospital quickly and confirm that Lin Xiao Yu was safe.
Finally, the outline of the hospital appeared before them. Lu Zean parked swiftly and hurriedly carried Lin Xiao Yu into the emergency room alongside Ma Zhao Zhao.
The hospital corridor was filled with the scent of disinfectant. The harsh white lights illuminated the cold floor as Lu Zean and Ma Zhao Zhao sat on a bench in silence, surrounded by an oppressive quietness broken only by occasional footsteps and distant beeping from medical equipment.
Lu Zean intertwined his fingers nervously and rubbed them together while furrowing his brow in anxiety and guilt. Taking a deep breath to break the silence, he said, "Zhao Zhao, I can’t shake this feeling of dread. If I had been more attentive to her needs, maybe this wouldn’t have happened." His eyes glistened with unshed tears.
Ma Zhao Zhao gently patted Lu Zean's shoulder in comfort. "Lu Zean, don’t think like that. Lin Xiao Yu is passionate about dance; sometimes she gets so absorbed that she forgets about her own well-being. None of us expected this to happen." Her voice carried a hint of fatigue and concern.
Lu Zean looked up at the ceiling as if trying to hold back tears. "Do you think she’ll have any serious issues? I can’t bear to imagine how devastated she would be if this fainting spell affected her career."
Ma Zhao Zhao sighed softly. "Worrying now won’t help; we’ll know once the test results come back. It might just be that she's been too tired lately and her body is a bit run down. Try to stay calm; when Lin Xiao Yu wakes up, she'll need you to take care of her."
Lu Zean nodded slightly but fell silent again. After a moment’s pause, he seemed to remember something and asked, "Zhao Zhao, do you think her eating habits have been irregular lately? Sometimes when I'm busy, I don’t check in on her meals."
Ma Zhao Zhao frowned in thought. "It seems so; sometimes she just grabs a quick bite during rehearsals. And with this cold weather lately, she hasn’t been dressing warmly enough—she might have caught a chill."
Lu Zean hit his leg in frustration. "I’ve been such an irresponsible guardian! Once she's better, I’ll make sure to cook for her every day and supervise her meals—she needs to eat properly and dress warmly."
Just then, a nurse hurried past them. Lu Zean immediately stood up and rushed after her anxiously asking, "Excuse me, when will we get Lin Xiao Yu's test results?" The nurse simply replied that it was unclear and told him to wait before walking away.
Feeling helpless, Lu Zean returned to his seat with his hands clasped behind his head while Ma Zhao Zhao quietly reassured him: "It won’t be long; it should be soon. Lin Xiao Yu is strong; she’ll be fine." Yet deep down inside her heart was also filled with unease as they both silently prayed for Lin Xiao Yu’s safety during this long wait.
Inside the hospital room, the scent of disinfectant lingered lightly in the air while soft winter sunlight filtered through white curtains casting gentle rays onto the three figures by the bedside. Lin Xiao Yu leaned against the headboard looking somewhat weak and dazed; Lu Zean sat closely beside her holding her hand tightly while Ma Zhao Zhao stood nearby with a gentle smile on her face.
