Not long after, amidst the anxious waiting of everyone, Lin Dongzhe and Peng Fei, accompanied by Song Ying and others, returned home with their heads hung low. As soon as Lin Dongzhe stepped through the door, a heavy atmosphere hit him like a wave, causing his heart to sink. Song Ying's face was pale, her eyes filled with a mix of anger, worry, and disappointment. Lin Wufeng stood silently beside them, his expression stern, creating an aura that seemed to freeze the entire space. 0

Before Lin Dongzhe could react, Song Ying rushed forward and tightly grasped his arm, pulling him close. She then raised her hand and struck him hard on the backside, one blow after another, each hit infused with her pain and anger. Between strikes, she scolded him in a choked voice, "You reckless child! How could you act so boldly? Do you have any idea how much worry and fear you’ve caused us by running off to Shanghai without a word?" Lin Dongzhe's eyes instantly reddened, tears welling up but he fought to hold them back. 0

At the same time, Teacher Zhuang was glaring at Peng Fei from another side, reprimanding him fiercely: "You are so thoughtless! You didn’t consider anything before following along with this nonsense!" Peng Fei lowered his head in shame, his body trembling slightly. 0

After the scolding, both Song Ying and Teacher Zhuang demanded that the two children immediately go to their rooms and catch up on all the assignments they had missed due to their escapade. They sternly declared that from now until the end of winter break, all their pocket money would be canceled, and they were forbidden from participating in any entertainment activities. They could only stay at home and focus on their studies to make amends for their serious mistake. 0

Not only that, but they were also required to write self-reflection essays. Xiao Ting and Lin Xiaoyu watched over them like vigilant guardians, their eyes fixed on the boys. Lin Dongzhe sat at his desk with a furrowed brow; the pen in his hand felt as heavy as lead. He was filled with regret and self-reproach as memories of his reckless trip to Shanghai flooded his mind. He pondered deeply about how to analyze his mistakes in the essay in hopes of earning forgiveness from his mother and teacher. Beside him, Peng Fei sighed heavily, staring blankly at the empty paper. Whenever he dared to glance up, he would meet Xiao Ting’s sharp gaze and quickly look down again. 0

Xiao Ting crossed her arms and said seriously: "You two better not think about slacking off; you must clearly write down your mistakes and express your determination to correct them." Lin Xiaoyu nodded vigorously beside her, her eyes never leaving them as she remained alert for any signs of distraction. 0

During this period of strict supervision, whenever Lin Dongzhe or Peng Fei showed even a hint of wanting to play or get distracted, Xiao Ting and Lin Xiaoyu would immediately intervene. All toys were locked away in cabinets; gaming consoles were hidden out of sight; even watching television was forbidden. They felt as if they were trapped on an island built from study and reflection, able only to express their remorse through the lines of their essays while silently praying for forgiveness from their family and teachers so they could return to a life filled with laughter and freedom. 0

Finally, winter break arrived amidst everyone's anticipation and busyness. Zhuang Tunan returned home from Shanghai. As soon as he entered the house, he noticed that the door to Lin Dongzhe's and Peng Fei's room was tightly shut; it was eerily quiet inside, leaving him curious about what the two children were up to. 0

With a heart full of curiosity and confusion, Zhuang Tunan gently knocked on the door. When no one responded, he slowly pushed it open. To his surprise, he found them sitting around a small television set, their eyes glued to the screen without noticing his arrival. Zhuang Tunan shook his head helplessly; he thought to himself that even after everything that had happened before, these two children still couldn’t let go of their entertainment activities. 0

Looking at the two engrossed in front of the television screen made Zhuang Tunan's brow furrow deeply; his expression turned serious. He walked straight up to the TV and turned it off with a loud click. The sudden silence thickened the atmosphere in the room even more. 0
