Upon learning that Shaogong was open and offering free talent classes, Huang Ling and Song Ying were overjoyed and hurriedly took their three children to the audition.
Shaogong offered both a Chorus Class and a Dance Class, and the two mothers planned to let the children try out for both. Inside the Chorus Class, the sweet melody of "Jasmine Flower" filled the air. Xiao Ting was the first to sing; her voice was clear and melodious, like a lively yellow oriole. After her performance, she received nods of approval from everyone present. Next up was Suzhou. Taking a deep breath, she let her voice flow from her throat, rich in tone and emotion. By the end of her song, the teacher looked at her with admiration and decided to keep her.
In the spacious and bright Dance Studio at Shaogong, the atmosphere was tense yet vibrant. A group of children with dreams of dancing gathered together, facing the rigorous selection process for the Dance Class. The split was a test of their flexibility.
At that moment, Suzhou stood tall in her simple yet fitted Training Outfit, exuding confidence and composure like a graceful poplar tree in spring. She lifted her gaze to survey her surroundings, took a deep breath as if releasing all her tension with that exhale, and then stepped confidently to the center of the stage.
Once she stood still, she slightly bent her knees and extended her arms gracefully, resembling an elegant swan spreading its wings. With fluid movements, she showcased her solid foundation in dance. Then she slowly arched her back; her body bent like a supple whip, creating a beautiful curve as her long black hair cascaded down, almost touching the ground. Her back remained straight, demonstrating incredible control.
After a brief pause, before anyone could react, she swiftly slid her legs apart into a split with seamless precision. Her legs seemed perfectly measured as they pressed firmly against the ground, fitting snugly with it. The arches of her feet were poised like blades drawn from their sheath, radiating beauty. Her upper body remained upright while her hands lightly rested on her legs; she gazed ahead with a faint smile on her lips, reminiscent of flowers blooming under the warm spring sun—her confidence radiated from head to toe.
In an instant, parents, children, and evaluators alike were captivated by this stunning display. There was a moment of silence as if time itself had paused to admire this exquisite pose before an eruption of genuine praise filled the room like a tidal wave: "This little girl is incredibly flexible! Her movements are so precise and beautiful!" With waves of compliments echoing around her, Suzhou successfully secured a spot in the Dance Class, taking a solid first step towards realizing her dream.
Watching Suzhou excel in her audition ignited a spark of determination in Lin Dongzhe's eyes. He felt an urge to keep up and silently vowed not to fall behind. When it was his turn to perform, he stood tall with an indomitable spirit as he marched into the audition area.
Once he settled into position, he took a moment to steady himself. Clenching his fists for encouragement, he attempted to arch his back. The moment he bent backward, it was clear he wasn't as effortless as Lin Xiao Yu; his face turned red with effort as beads of sweat formed on his forehead. Gritting his teeth, he seemed to be using every ounce of strength he had. Fortunately, his playful nature had developed his agility; despite wobbling slightly, he managed to complete the arch without incident and remembered to flash a nervous smile at the teacher as he slowly rose.
Next came the split. As he spread his legs apart, it was evident that it required considerable effort; he couldn't quite reach full extension immediately. His legs trembled in mid-air before gradually lowering down. With each inch closer to the ground, his brows furrowed tighter as he gasped for breath through gritted teeth; yet his eyes remained resolute. Onlookers felt anxious for him but thanks to his tenacity and decent coordination skills, he eventually managed to get both feet on the ground. Although his form wasn't as perfect or graceful as Lin Xiao Yu's, it met the requirements for passing.
The teacher observed everything keenly and appreciated Lin Dongzhe's fighting spirit and hard work; smiling approvingly while waving him over to stay as well. Lin Dongzhe let out a sigh of relief as a radiant smile spread across his face—he was filled with joy at having taken this important step forward.
Huang Ling and Song Ying watched this scene unfold with delight written all over their faces. Upon returning home, they couldn't wait to share this good news with Lin Wufeng and Teacher Zhuang, their words brimming with pride and satisfaction.
As college entrance exams drew near their conclusion, Yi Ming unfortunately found himself left behind without any acceptance offers. Frustrated by this outcome, he rushed over to Teacher Zhuang's house with friends in tow, hoping desperately for guidance that could help him turn things around academically.
When Huang Ling opened the door and saw them there, she immediately refused: "My two kids are fully focused on preparing for their exams at Yizhong right now; I simply can't spare any room for tutoring you." Yi Ming's friend was hot-headed and reckless; his face turned crimson as he shouted: "Aunt Huang! You have no idea how urgent this is!" Upon hearing this outburst, Song Ying felt both amused and exasperated at how inconsiderate this child was being.
Huang Ling's anger flared up instantly; she felt frustrated and displeased by their audacity. Inside the house, Teacher Zhuang wore an awkward expression—torn between wanting to maintain his image as a caring teacher willing to help students while fearing gossip from neighbors that could become fodder for idle chatter later on. Huang Ling was determined to protect Zhuang Tunan's study efforts from any outside disruption that might jeopardize their chances at Yizhong but after much persuasion from Teacher Zhuang about how poor Yi Ming's foundation was—despite Huang Ling's reluctance—she ultimately had no choice but to concede.
From then on, life fell into a monotonous routine day after day. One day after finishing their shifts at work feeling utterly exhausted, Huang Ling and Song Ying collapsed onto their beds shortly after arriving home. Meanwhile Lin Dongzhe and Suzhou were enjoying a rare day off but were abruptly jolted awake by loud knocking on the door accompanied by frantic shouting outside.
Seeing that the children had been rudely awakened made Song Ying frown deeply with anger boiling within her.
Yet Yi Ming seemed oblivious; he continued banging on the door loudly while shouting at the top of his lungs—his piercing voice echoed through the narrow alleyway causing neighbors to grow increasingly annoyed with complaints rising around them. Although Teacher Zhuang wanted to help due to their poor academic foundation—Song Ying couldn’t help but grumble: "When will this ever end? Is this how tutoring is going to be?" Her words dripped with frustration and weariness as she hoped this chaotic tutoring farce would come to an end soon.
