As night fell, the park grew increasingly eerie in the thick darkness, resembling a lurking giant beast quietly waiting for its prey to come within reach.
A few chirps from insects pierced the silence, sounding like an overture for the horror that was about to unfold.
I stood high above the park, coldly surveying everything below.
Light spilled from the windows of various houses, illuminating the busy figures inside.
I knew what they were doing.
Their laughter and chatter rose and fell, but to my ears, it sounded like a cruel mockery of the desperate cries of victims.
"Enjoy this final peace while you can..."
A cold smile curled at the corners of my mouth as I whispered, my voice filled with chilling foreboding.
"Soon, you will understand what retribution truly means."
I drifted toward a dormitory and silently pushed the door open.
A few people were gathered around a table playing cards, their laughter booming as cash and empty bottles littered the surface.
A man with a buzz cut excitedly slammed his hand on the table and shouted, "I've won again! Hurry up, pay up!"
Another slightly thinner man grumbled in frustration, "Damn it! You must be cheating!"
The chubby man waved his hand dismissively, grabbing a handful of bills and handing them to the buzz-cut man. "Alright, enough talk. Let's go for another round."
Their arrogance and smugness stung my eyes.
My fists clenched tightly as a chill spread from deep within me.
"Very well, I want to see how long you can keep laughing."
I took a deep breath and summoned the Cold Energy from the air around me.
The manipulation of this energy was not easy; my Spirit trembled slightly, as if countless fine needles were piercing my soul.
A gust of cold wind suddenly swept through the room, extinguishing the lights in an instant.
The entire space plunged into darkness, the chill penetrating to the bone.
"Damn! Is there a power outage?"
The fat man cursed, grabbing his phone to illuminate the surroundings.
The crew-cut man rolled his eyes. "What a joke, there’s a backup power supply here."
He stood up and walked to the wall to check the switch, but everything seemed normal.
I used the power of Grudge to infiltrate their Mobile System.
Each time I breached a phone, it felt like traversing through layers of fog, battling against the internal security mechanisms.
In the next moment, all the phone screens lit up simultaneously, blinding white light cutting through the darkness.
From the screens, a Mechanical Female Voice slowly emerged: "You will pay for your actions..."
The voice was chilling and bone-deep, as if it came from the depths of hell.
"Shit! Who's messing with us?"
The Thin Man's face turned pale, his voice trembling.
I did not respond; instead, I let the objects in the room begin to move on their own.
Each movement required me to concentrate all my energy, and my Spirit grew increasingly weary.
A chair toppled over, and the playing cards on the table flew apart without any wind, slicing through the air like blades and embedding themselves into the wall.
The curtains were suddenly yanked open, yet no breeze passed through.
Every item that moved drained a significant amount of my energy, causing my Spirit to become more ethereal, and the dark mist around me thinned further.
But seeing their terrified expressions filled me with an unprecedented sense of satisfaction.
The fat man trembled as he said, "There’s a ghost... there’s a ghost!"
The Thin Man grabbed him fiercely, "Shut up! It must be some prank!"
His face was as pale as wax.
At that moment, I concentrated my Grudge and created a vague shadow at the end of the hallway.
This time, conjuring the shadow was even more challenging; I nearly exhausted my last ounce of strength.
The shadow was insubstantial but radiated a chilling aura.
"Help!"
The buzz-cut man finally broke down, screaming as he bolted out of the room.
The others followed in a panic, their footsteps chaotic and disordered.
The entire Park was stirred by this commotion.
Wang Qiang stormed out of the office, kicking the door open. "What’s all this noise! A bunch of useless fools scaring themselves, how long is this going to go on?"
A security guard rushed in, panting heavily. "Boss, it’s bad! All the goods in the warehouse fell and damaged a bunch of equipment!"
Wang Qiang's eyes widened. "No one went in? Did the goods grow legs and run out by themselves?"
The guard whispered, "The surveillance footage shows… there was no one inside, but we still heard strange noises, as if… someone was warning us."
Wang Qiang frowned deeply and slammed the documents he was holding onto the desk. "What the hell! Find out what’s going on! Someone must be causing trouble!"
I hid in the shadows, watching their reactions with a cold smirk creeping onto my lips.
"Causing trouble? No, what you see is just the beginning."
As Wang Qiang returned to his office, I focused my Grudge once more, aiming at the teacup on his desk.
At that moment, I was utterly weak; gathering my Grudge was incredibly difficult.
With a sharp crack, the teacup suddenly shattered, scalding tea splattering all over him.
"Ah!"
Wang Qiang jumped up, frantically shaking off the tea from his clothes, his face a mix of terror and anger. "Who is it! Show yourself!"
I leaned close to his ear and whispered in a low, hoarse voice, "Did you think you could escape retribution?"
He spun around abruptly but saw nothing.
His breathing quickened, cold sweat beading on his forehead. "Where are the security guards! Where have they all gone! Turn this entire Park upside down; no matter who it is, we must find them!"
I remained hidden in the darkness, relishing their frantic and busy demeanor.
But this pleasure was soon replaced by a sense of unease—after frequently using Grudge, I felt my Spirit growing weaker and weaker.
The black mist surrounding me began to dissipate, and my movements became sluggish.
I knew I could no longer use my power so recklessly.
I had to find a way to restore my strength.
Otherwise, my plan for revenge would be completely thwarted.
"I can't go on like this," I thought to myself.
"I must find a way to recover; otherwise, the plan might be forced to come to a halt."
Yet, I was unwilling to stop. These people were deeply guilty; they should pay for their actions!
I just needed more time.
And I needed more energy...
How could I complete my revenge before my power ran out?
