A sharp whistle pierced the air, and the Constables in the concession quickly ran in the same direction. 0

In the distance, a protest march composed of a hundred workers was approaching, and the Constables stood ready for action. 0

As the crowd reached Nanjing Road, a group of passionate students joined in from somewhere, adding to the chaos. 0

The British Constables had already begun to block the marchers' path. It was unclear who struck first, but soon a clash erupted between the Constables and the protesters. 0

Wang Yushan quickly pressed the shutter of her camera. 0

The conflict intensified, and amidst the chaos, she narrowly avoided being hit by an object thrown her way. She managed to snap a few photos of the British Constables assaulting workers, and the flash from her camera caught the attention of one of them. 0

Brandishing a taser, he charged at her with an intimidating glare. She clutched her camera tightly and turned to run, but the Constable pursued her relentlessly. 0

Several protesting workers suddenly blocked the Constable's path, providing only a brief distraction before others resumed their chase. It seemed they were determined to retrieve that photo. 0

In a panic, Wang Yushan took a sharp turn down a side street and soon spotted a car parked in front of the Peace Hotel. A man was getting into the driver's seat, preparing to drive away. 0

Wang Yushan rushed over, yanked open the car door, and plopped down in the passenger seat, shouting, "Hey, drive fast!" 0

"Why should I let you drive? Just because you say so?" The man was startled by the sudden intrusion of a woman into his car and shouted back angrily. 0

"Hurry up! They're after me!" Wang Yushan pointed frantically behind her. 0

The man glanced at the rearview mirror with a hint of skepticism, and sure enough, two foreign Constables were tailing them. He slammed on the gas, causing Wang Yushan's head to collide forcefully with the windshield. 0

"Drive slower!" Wang Yushan exclaimed, clutching her forehead and gasping in pain. 0

"But you told me to speed up!" the man retorted. 0

"Don't slow down, just go faster!" Wang Yushan urged, her anxiety making her stomp her feet. 0

"Do you want me to go fast or slow?" The man was both amused and exasperated by her insistence. 0

As they bickered, the tires screeched against the pavement, sending sparks and dust flying. His driving skills were impressive; he easily shook off the pursuing Constables behind them. 0

After weaving through several turns, he finally pulled over to the side of the road. Both of them were out of breath. 0

"Thank you!" Wang Yushan said, feeling that despite his bad temper, he had helped her. She took a moment to scrutinize his appearance—he was young, with thick eyebrows and big eyes, sharp features, and strikingly handsome, even more so than the stars in magazines. 0

However, his temperament seemed to be the complete opposite of his looks. One hand rested on the steering wheel while the other leaned casually against her seat as he teased, "Is a simple thank you all I get? How do you plan to repay me?" 0

Wang Yushan was startled by his playful tone and stammered, "I... I..." 0

Seeing her like a frightened little rabbit made him burst into laughter. "Just kidding! Are you a reporter?" 0

"Yes, I'm a reporter for Jin Hu Evening News," she replied with a smile. "I was filming the parade we just passed." 0

"You truly have courage," he said, a hint of admiration in his voice. 0

"Thank you for the compliment. It's part of a reporter's duty. I appreciate your help today, and I will return this favor when the opportunity arises. May I ask your name?" Wang Yushan inquired politely. 0

"Xu Ziyao," he replied casually. 0

"Bang..." Just as Wang Yushan was about to get out of the car, she bumped her head against the door upon hearing that name. How unlucky she was today to have crossed paths with this calamity. 0

Xu Ziyao was the son of Xu Yan, the head of Feng He Tang. Feng He Tang controlled half of the docks in Shanghai, nearly on par with Qing Gang. 0

Yet, Xu Ziyao seemed like a "misfortune" of Xu Yan, constantly stirring up trouble. Almost everyone on the Bund knew about his antics, and he was a frequent visitor at the Constable's office. 0

No wonder he had run away so quickly when he saw the Constable earlier. 0

Wang Yushan silently prayed that today was just an unlucky day and that they would not meet again in the future. 0
