The night enveloped Seoul, with neon lights flickering like enchanting phantoms.
In the distance, the wail of a police siren echoed, a response to the explosion at the Tai Chi Gang's arms depot and a reflection of Kim Byung Won's provocation.
Park Bucheng stood on the rooftop of the Tai Chi Gang headquarters, the night breeze tousling his bangs, his gaze as cold as a blade.
Li Taizhu stood beside him, her face pale, but the flicker in her eyes was not fear; it was determination.
"Are you sure you want to come with me?" Park Bucheng turned his head, his tone calm yet tinged with an imperceptible concern.
Li Taizhu took a deep breath. "My father is in your hands; I have no choice."
Park Bucheng chuckled softly. "Your father's safety depends on your performance. Don't forget, your current role is my... partner."
"I know," Li Taizhu bit her lip, a complex emotion flashing in her eyes.
"Let's go!" With a command from Park Bucheng, he vanished into the night, leaving only a fleeting shadow behind.
Li Taizhu followed closely, her heart filled with unease, but she knew there was no turning back.
Their destination was a secret hideout of a rival gangster located on the outskirts of the city—a deserted factory. Intelligence indicated that Kim Byung Won would send someone here tonight for a clandestine meeting with the Hostile Gang Leader to discuss their next course of action. Park Bucheng's objective was to infiltrate the hideout, gather intelligence, and ideally take them all down in one fell swoop.
The infiltration team was personally led by Park Bucheng. Besides Li Taizhu, there were several agile Tai Chi Gang members. Although these men lacked martial skills, their loyalty to Park Bucheng was unwavering; they were fearless and formed his most trusted crew.
The night was pitch black, visibility reduced to nothing. The team moved stealthily toward the abandoned factory under the cover of darkness. Weeds grew wildly around the factory, and the air was thick with the scent of rust.
"Brother Cheng, this creepy place gives me the chills," one of the gang members said, shrinking his neck and lowering his voice.
Park Bucheng let out a cold laugh, "What are you afraid of? With me around, you'll be fine."
The towering walls loomed above, and the sentries stood guard with a strict vigilance. Searchlights swept across the area like the single eye of a giant, scanning everything in sight.
"Damn it, this is tougher than I imagined," muttered another gang member under his breath.
Park Bucheng squinted, a smirk playing at the corners of his mouth. "Now this is interesting." He surveyed the surroundings, already formulating a plan in his mind.
In a flash, he moved like a ghost through the shadows, employing the exquisite technique of Graceful Wave Steps to easily evade the gaze of all the sentries, resembling a wisp of spirit in the night.
The members of his team watched in awe, "Wow, Brother Cheng's moves are incredible! It's like he's a COS Monk, pulling off those eye-dodging spinning kicks!"
Under Park Bucheng's leadership, the team stealthily infiltrated the stronghold without incident.
They hid behind a pile of discarded machinery, observing the situation inside the base.
The interior was brightly lit, with shadows flitting about and an atmosphere thick with tension. Kim Byung Won was nowhere to be seen; instead, a representative sent by a Chaebol appeared—a burly middle-aged man with a sinister gaze. Though he wasn't Kim Byung Won, this man exuded immense inner strength and was clearly a martial arts expert, radiating an air of danger with every movement.
A chill ran down Park Bucheng's spine. "It seems Kim Byung Won is serious this time."
The middle-aged man was engaged in a secret conversation with the Hostile Gang Leader. Their voices were low but still clear in the silence of the factory.
"Kim Byung Won promised us that if we help him eliminate Park Bucheng, he will give us control over West District and fifty million in cash," the Hostile Leader said eagerly as he rubbed his hands together.
"Hmph, can we really trust that old fox Kim Byung Won?" The middle-aged man scoffed, a hint of disdain flashing in his eyes.
"He has already paid us half of the deposit; the rest will be paid once the job is done," the Hostile Leader said quickly.
"That Park Bucheng is cunning and difficult to deal with," the middle-aged man frowned.
"Don't worry, we have dispatched our most elite assassins. This time, he won't escape," the Hostile Leader declared confidently.
Park Bucheng listened to their conversation clearly, a cold smile forming in his heart. "Want to kill me? It's not that easy!"
At that moment, one of the lackeys, nervous and clumsy, accidentally knocked over an empty Oil Drum.
"Crash!" The loud noise shattered the tranquility of the night.
"Who goes there?!" The middle-aged man and the Hostile Leader immediately became alert, springing to their feet and scanning their surroundings with piercing eyes.
"We've been exposed!" Li Taizhu's expression changed.
Park Bucheng's gaze turned icy. "Make your move!"
In a flash, he darted out like a cheetah.
The sword energy of the Six Meridians Divine Sword swept out like a torrential storm, instantly knocking down several guards. Those guards didn't even have time to react before they collapsed to the ground, groaning in pain.
The Hostile Leader and the middle-aged man also joined the fray. The middle-aged man possessed deep internal strength and formidable martial arts skills; his strikes were lethal and fierce. However, compared to Park Bucheng, he still fell short.
Park Bucheng unleashed the Dragon Subduing Eighteen Palms, the palm winds howling like a raging dragon emerging from the sea, carrying an overwhelming momentum.
The middle-aged man was unable to withstand the onslaught, staggering back and spitting blood.
"Damn it, how is this kid so strong?!" The middle-aged man was filled with shock; he never expected Park Bucheng to possess such formidable martial skills.
Park Bucheng let out a cold laugh. "Now you know, but it's too late!"
He struck the middle-aged man's chest with a palm, causing the man to scream in agony as he flew backward like a kite with its string cut, crashing heavily to the ground, unconscious and unresponsive.
Seeing this, the Hostile Leader was terrified and turned to flee.
But Park Bucheng would not allow him to escape.
In a flash, he blocked the Hostile Leader's path.
"Trying to run? Did you ask for my permission?"
The Hostile Leader fell to his knees, trembling all over. "Spare me! Please, spare me!"
Park Bucheng sneered. "Begging for mercy now? It's too late!"
With a single palm strike, he ended the Hostile Leader's life as easily as crushing an ant.
The battle concluded with remarkable swiftness.
Park Bucheng led his team members and quickly evacuated the stronghold.
They successfully obtained the intelligence and gave Kim Byung Won a harsh lesson.
Returning to the Tai Chi Gang headquarters, Park Bucheng handed the information to Li Taizhu. "Give this to your father."
Li Taizhu took the intelligence, her eyes filled with complex emotions.
She didn't know whether what she was doing was right or wrong.
But she knew there was no turning back now.
Park Bucheng stood by the floor-to-ceiling window, gazing down at the brightly lit city, his expression deep and contemplative.
He understood that this was just the beginning.
Kim Byung Won, our game has only just begun...
Suddenly, his phone rang.
A strange number.
"Hello?"
"Park Bucheng, you're impressive, but do you really think this will lead you to victory?" A cold voice came from the other end of the line...
