After noticing the growing power of Liang Tian, the head of the Chen Family, Old Master Chen, decisively summoned the core members of the family for an emergency meeting to discuss countermeasures. The atmosphere in the conference room was tense as everyone gathered around a large redwood round table, their expressions varied.
Old Master Chen sat at the head of the table, scanning the room before speaking first. “I believe everyone is aware that Liang Tian has been quite active lately. “Uncle, you can't say that,” countered Chen Xue’s cousin, Chen Yuxuan. “Although Liang Tian has a complex background, his abilities are not to be underestimated. In a short time, he has achieved remarkable success in business and garnered support from many underworld forces, indicating that he is not just an ordinary person. I believe he has great potential; if we can reconcile with him, it might benefit the future development of the Chen Family.”
Hearing this, Chen Zhen Guo raised his voice. “Yuxuan, what are you saying? The Chen Family has stood strong in Jiangnan City for a hundred years; do we really need to rely on an outsider for our growth? Liang Tian’s intentions are not pure; his approach to Xue'er might just be a ploy to gain the Chen Family's interests.”
Chen Yuxuan stood his ground and argued back. “Uncle, you cannot dismiss Liang Tian based solely on speculation. In today’s fierce business competition, having one more strong ally is better than gaining another enemy. Moreover, Xue'er and Liang Tian are genuinely in love; must we as elders intervene harshly?”
The two debated heatedly, their faces flushed with emotion. Other family members joined in the discussion, dividing into two factions: those supporting reconciliation and those firmly opposing it.
At this moment, Old Master Chen cleared his throat softly, and everyone fell silent. He spoke slowly, “Zhen Guo, Yuxuan, both of you have valid points. Liang Tian indeed presents us with significant challenges. However, when making decisions for the Chen Family, we must not only consider immediate concerns but also think about our long-term interests.”
With a deep gaze, Old Master Chen continued, “Yuxuan is correct; Liang Tian’s demonstrated abilities and potential should not be overlooked. If we can reconcile with him, it may open new avenues for the Chen Family. Yet Zhen Guo’s concerns are also valid; we must act cautiously to ensure that the interests of the Chen Family are protected.”
Chen Xue’s aunt, Chen Wanqing, nodded in agreement. “The Old Master speaks wisely. We might as well attempt to reach out to Liang Tian and see what his intentions are while remaining vigilant about him. As for Xue'er and Liang Tian's relationship, we should respect Xue'er’s wishes; after all, forcing something that isn’t meant to be will yield no sweetness.”
After intense discussion, the family meeting reached a preliminary consensus: on one hand, they would attempt to engage with Liang Tian to explore possibilities for reconciliation; on the other hand, they would closely monitor his every move to prevent any detrimental intentions toward the Chen Family. Regarding Chen Xue and Liang Tian's relationship, the family decided against imposing strict opposition and instead sought a gentler approach to guide and manage it.
As the meeting concluded, Old Master Chen pondered silently about this young man named Liang Tian—was he a friend or foe of the Chen Family? Everything remained uncertain. Regardless of what lay ahead, the Chen Family could not afford to lose their advantage in this game. Meanwhile, Liang Tian was still unaware of these internal developments within the Chen Family; he continued striving to gain their recognition and build his power for a future with Chen Xue.
