The Water Prison.
I have failed.
Once again.
I gazed at the palm-sized window, a faint smile gracing my lips.
That stunningly beautiful face appeared before my eyes once more.
Man Wenyu, my twin sister, whom our parents sent away for her sake.
Later, she became a glamorous star, famous throughout the land, enjoying both wealth and fame.
While I was locked away in this dark, sunless water prison, unable to live or die!
All of this was thanks to her!
In this new life, I returned to the time just after I gained fame.
My limbs were filled with strength and vitality.
My stomach was no longer empty, no longer suffering from excruciating pain.
This healthy body felt so light it seemed as if I could float away.
Compared to my previous life, the feeling of despair was like the difference between heaven and hell.
Yet I still felt that something was off, as if every cell in my body had become sensitive. I looked at myself in the mirror, examining my face from left to right.
This face couldn't be considered particularly beautiful; at most, it could be described as delicate.
Compared to Man Wenyu's stunning beauty, I appeared as bland as a glass of plain water.
No wonder my parents favored Man Wenyu a bit more in my past life; even Wang Zhan had only been with me because of her.
Knock, knock!
The sound of knocking interrupted my thoughts.
"Come in."
Man Wenyu entered, holding a gift box.
She wore a pale yellow dress that made her small face glow with a rosy hue.
Radiant and charming.
"Sister, this is a Bird's Nest that Mom bought for you. She wants you to take good care of yourself."
Man Wenyu placed the gift box on the table.
I glanced at it.
It was from my favorite brand.
Mom really had put some thought into this.
"Sister, Mom really misses you. When you have time, please come home for a visit."
"I'm busy and can't spare the time."
I kept my head down, focused on my work, and replied without looking up.
In my previous life, I had promised them I would come home for dinner, only to be drunk and sent to a nightclub by them.
"Sister, are you still holding a grudge against our parents?"
Man Wenyu looked at me with red-rimmed eyes, as if she might cry at any moment.
I scoffed, "Man Wenyu, get it straight. It's not that I resent them; it's that they have wronged me!"
Our parents had listened to the Village Secretary's words back then, claiming that my fate was unfavorable and that I would bring misfortune to them and my siblings.
So, they sent me to live with my grandmother.
My grandmother loved and cherished me, even hiring a fortune teller on my behalf.
The fortune teller said, "Jing Fang has an extraordinary fate; her destiny is precious. She is destined for great wealth and prosperity in the future."
My grandmother beamed with joy, "Our Jing Fang is truly blessed."
I would snuggle into my grandmother's arms and say, "As long as I have you, I will be blessed."
Later, when my grandmother passed away, I carved out a place for myself in the entertainment industry.
I brought Man Wenyu close to me to take care of her.
I never expected that raising a tiger would lead to trouble; she actually teamed up with Wang Zhan to set me up!
Man Wenyu's eyes were brimming with tears. "Sister, I know you resent me and our parents, but I had no choice."
She clung to my arm. "Sister, if it weren't for Dad's gambling addiction and Mom's frail health, I wouldn't have been forced to marry a thug!"
Man Wenyu cried like a weeping willow. "Sister, you're the only one who can save me."
Suddenly, she knelt before me.
In my past life, I had been deceived by her tears.
I was the one who had been sent away as a child; why did I now feel indebted to her?
This time, I stood my ground. "Get up."
Man Wenyu was taken aback. "Sister?"
In my previous life, at this moment, I would have already helped her up.
I would have wiped her tears, comforted her, and even offered ways to help her.
