Park Bucheng stood in the shadow of the Taiji Conglomerate Headquarters Building, squinting like a crouching leopard.
Under the night sky of Seoul, neon lights flickered, and traffic flowed like a river, the air thick with the scent of money.
The Taiji Conglomerate Headquarters Building loomed in the city center like a steel behemoth, exuding a cold and arrogant aura. Each glass facade reflected the city's splendor while simultaneously keeping it at bay, as if declaring its unshakable authority.
Park Bucheng took a deep breath and changed out of his gangster uniform into a stolen ordinary employee's outfit.
The uniform was slightly oversized, making him look like a child who had borrowed an adult's clothes—ridiculous and comical. He tugged at the collar, a cheap synthetic odor invading his nostrils, clashing with the high-end perfume wafting from within the building.
Damn it, these chaebol lackeys wear such fancy clothes. Park Bucheng scoffed inwardly, but his mind remained alert.
He felt the stolen employee ID card in his pocket, which bore an unfamiliar name: Kim Dae-jung.
“Kim Dae-jung, I hope you won’t mind me borrowing your identity for a while,” he murmured to the air, a smirk playing on his lips.
He strode confidently toward the entrance of the building.
The security guard at the door was idly playing on his phone, completely oblivious to his arrival.
Park Bucheng chuckled to himself; these useless guards were just collecting paychecks for nothing. He could even hear the game sounds emanating from the guard’s phone, which seemed particularly ironic in such a heavily guarded place.
He walked in with swagger, as if returning to his own home.
Upon entering the building, an air of opulence enveloped him.
The grand lobby was adorned with dazzling marble floors that shone like mirrors, priceless artworks displayed prominently—all showcasing the power and wealth of the chaebol. A faint scent of sandalwood mingled with the aroma of top-shelf champagne, making it feel as though he had stepped into an elite soirée. The crystal chandeliers overhead sparkled brilliantly, each one resembling a shining star, illuminating the lobby as brightly as day.
Park Bucheng silently cursed. This group of vampires was truly indulgent! Even the air was thick with the stench of money. He noticed a large oil painting hanging on the wall, depicting a man in a tailored suit with an arrogant demeanor; it must be the founder of the Taiji Consortium.
Following the route etched in his memory, he made his way to Kim Soo-yeon's office.
The corridor was eerily quiet, with only the soft sound of his footsteps brushing against the plush carpet. The walls on either side were adorned with various abstract art pieces, none of which Park Bucheng could comprehend; he could only assume these things were worth more than his life.
He arrived at Kim Soo-yeon's office door and gently knocked.
"Come in," a crisp female voice called from within.
Park Bucheng pushed the door open and saw Kim Soo-yeon sitting at her desk, her head bent over some documents.
She wore a sleek black business suit that exuded professionalism and elegance. Her meticulously applied makeup and perfectly styled hair reflected her status and identity.
"Kim Dae-jung, what brings you here?" Kim Soo-yeon looked up, her expression one of curiosity.
Park Bucheng smiled slightly, revealing a set of white teeth. "Director Jin, I’m here to deliver some documents." He handed over the files, a glint of cunning flashing in his eyes.
Kim Soo-yeon took the documents, casually flipped through them, and then placed them on her desk. "Alright, I see. You can go now."
Park Bucheng nodded and turned to leave.
Just then, Kim Soo-yeon suddenly called out to him. "Wait."
Park Bucheng halted, turning back with a puzzled expression. "Director Jin, is there anything else?" His heart raced slightly as he worked to maintain his composure.
Kim Soo-yeon studied him, a hint of suspicion flickering in her gaze. "You seem different today."
Park Bucheng felt a tightness in his chest. Damn it, did she find out? He forced himself to calm down and smiled as he said, "Really? I guess I've just been working too hard lately."
Kim Soo-yeon stared at him for a few seconds, as if trying to read something on his face. Finally, she said, "It's fine now. You can go."
He let out a sigh of relief and quickly left the office, feeling his back drenched in cold sweat.
He arrived at a blind spot of the surveillance cameras and swiftly changed into a tight black suit. This outfit was something he had prepared in advance, like a second skin that allowed him to move more freely.
Like a gecko, he clung to the wall and began to climb upward.
His target was the Confidential Archive Room located on the top floor.
Using his Graceful Wave Steps, he navigated effortlessly between the surveillance cameras, moving like a ghost. In the monitoring footage, only fleeting shadows appeared, making it difficult to capture him.
The security guard in the monitoring room rubbed his eyes as he watched the flickering figure on the screen, thinking he was seeing things. "What the hell is that? Am I going crazy?" he muttered, continuing to stare at the screen but failing to notice anything unusual again.
Park Bucheng reached the door of the archive room and pulled out a slender piece of wire, skillfully picking the lock.
He slipped into the archive room and began searching for the information he needed.
The room was piled high with documents, resembling a mountain of paper. The air was thick with the scent of paper and dust, making it feel somewhat suffocating.
Park Bucheng quickly skimmed through the files, looking for evidence of secret transactions involving Chaebols. He needed to find key information that could bring down Li Zhenghao, and this information was likely hidden among the mountains of documents.
Time ticked away as beads of sweat formed on his forehead.
Finally, he found what he was looking for—a document detailing secret transactions between Taiji Consortium and political figures. He swiftly took a photo of the document and carefully placed it back in its original position before leaving the archive room.
As he was about to leave the building, he unexpectedly ran into Kim Soo-yeon.
"Kim Dae-jung, what are you doing here so late?" Kim Soo-yeon asked, her eyes filled with suspicion.
Park Bucheng cursed inwardly; this was truly a case of enemies crossing paths.
He forced a calm demeanor and replied with a smile, "Director Jin, I have a few matters to attend to."
Kim Soo-yeon scrutinized him, her gaze laced with doubt. "What matters? You seem rather secretive."
At that moment, a security guard approached. "Director Jin, this person is acting suspiciously; I suspect he might be up to no good."
Kim Soo-yeon turned to the guard and commanded, "Arrest him."
The guard lunged at Park Bucheng.
Knowing he could no longer hide, Park Bucheng swiftly dodged the guard's attack.
He executed the Yi Yang Finger technique, striking the guard's pressure point and rendering him immobile.
Then he turned his gaze towards Kim Soo-yeon, a hint of coldness flashing in his eyes.
"Kim Soo-yeon, you’ve pushed me too far."
He advanced step by step towards Kim Soo-yeon, like death itself closing in.
Kim Soo-yeon looked at him, her eyes filled with terror.
She wanted to escape, but it was already too late.
Park Bucheng grabbed her by the neck and pinned her against the wall.
"What... what do you want?" Kim Soo-yeon asked in terror.
Park Bucheng let out a cold laugh and said, "I want to know what secret deal you have with Li Zhenghao."
Kim Soo-yeon's face changed dramatically, panic filling her eyes.
She never expected that this seemingly ordinary employee would know about her secret with Li Zhenghao.
She struggled to break free from Park Bucheng's grip, but his hand was like a vice, firmly holding her in place.
"Speak. If you don’t, I’ll kill you," Park Bucheng's voice was cold and merciless, like a demon from hell.
Kim Soo-yeon looked into his icy gaze, her heart filled with fear.
She knew that today, she had no way out.
Just then, a hurried sound of footsteps approached…
